ya, that's just plain rediculous :| but it does show sony will prolly be doing just fine this round of systems again.

Maybe if they actually had the supply for the demand it wouldn't be a problem. They knew before hand that they didn't have enough to meet the demand, it's like they were asking for this to happen.
 
I read they were going to originally release with a huge supply, but they weren't sure if it was going to exactly work, something like that. Isn't is also more to make the PS3 then they profit from it?

Yeah, they're losing around $250 per system they sell. They were going to release with a large supply, but all of the manufacturing problems led to a very small number of units.
 
They aren't losing money. They will still sell as many no matter what, but bad publicity it still publicity.
 
I may be wrong, but I heard companies are hesitant with the new blu-ray?

No, they're losing money, just like they did on the playstation 1 and 2. Nintendo has been the only company making a profit on the console sales, Microsoft and Sony have been selling at a loss just to make their consoles affordable(sup $800 PS3 cost). They make much more money off of the games that come out for the consoles, that's how they stay in business, but for now they're just losing money.
 
I wouldn't be surprised, not many people embraced the UMD and given how fast it failed, they're probably waiting until there are signs that blu-ray won't bomb.

according to this cnn article Indiana, california, Connecticut, Ohio, Pensylvania, Virginia, and kentucky had incidents with the ps3, sounds like a prettey wide area of the US.

I read that in japan store owners with megaphones told people that if a single person got hurt, they would postpone selling the ps3's for a week or more, probably the reason there was less violence.

In the US, one store manager decided to line up 10 chairs, and whoever got a seat in one of those 10 chairs got to buy a ps3. (Needless to say, lots of people where hurt, one even broke his jaw)
 
The Bestbuy that did the ticket thing for the first 100 or w/e people in line seemed to be a really good idea.
 
Someone was shot in MA after they wouldnt hand over money to a robber whille waiting in line. But I guess its to be expected. Lets all shoot, stab, kill each other for a PS3 so we can go home an play some grand theft auto!
 
*sighs* what kinda world do we live in.... On another note.. i saw something funny this morning at Wal-Mart in the electronics section. Saying something relative to... "The line for the Nintendo Wii is outside. Sales will start at 12:01 on November 19th." Since Nintendo has a buttload of systems ready for sales.. why would anyone want to wait outside?
