Nobuo Uematsu leaves Square Enix

He didn't do Xenosaga II's soundtrack. The composer of .hack's soundtrack did. http://www.dignews.com/preview.php?story_id=4315

(I didn't originally read it there, I read it in a print mag. That was the first one google found though.)

Also, keep in mind he did an assload of soundtracks in a very short time. Chrono Cross, Xenosaga, Shadow Hearts, and a couple of others I forget at the moment all were released within a year.

I saw a preview for FFXII.......I think I saw a race of bunnygirls.....
I think SquareEnix is taking a few steps in the wrong direction.

The bunny girls (Viera) were in FF Tactics Advance.

I'm not sure if Mitsuda has composed anything recently, and if Tyrion doesn't know, then I sure as hell don't.

Wow, I was completely unaware he did Shadow Hearts. But you are correct. Tsuganai is the only other game I can think of that he did fairly recently.

I actually thought the first disc of the Xenosaga II soundtrack was well done. The 2nd disc wasn't nearly as good though. It's one of the discs I often put in before logging in to FFXI since we mages don't get much in the way of battle music...

And don't expect XII play exactly like every other FF. I think Square is starting to realize the old Final Fantasy formula is getting...well, a little old. X-2 was a step in a different direction. Not necessarily the right one for everyone, but a step nonetheless.
XII's director (Yasumi Matsuno) previously worked on FFTactics and Vagrant Story. Two of the more unique Square games on PS. And if I read correctly ...big gasp here... No random encounters and combat is essentually real-time. Uematsu will be composing the main love theme, but the bulk of composing will go to Hitoshi Sakimoto, who also did Tactics and Vagrant Story, as well as the more recent Breath of Fire V.
