The other two threads have gone steadily downhill. Can we nominate DarkDante to be the Micheal Moore of qcdn.org? 8)

Ok I gotta admit I was completely clueless as to who that was, but after reading some of the stuff he writes I have to say the guy makes me laugh but he is pretty extreme. Its nice to see an asshole thats not on the republicans side.

Vacation is Over... an open letter from Michael Moore to George W. Bush

Heres some stuff he worte.

Friday, September 2nd, 2005

Dear Mr. Bush:

Any idea where all our helicopters are? It's Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina and thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted. Where on earth could you have misplaced all our military choppers? Do you need help finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears parking lot. Man, was that a drag.

Also, any idea where all our national guard soldiers are? We could really use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do like helping with national disasters. How come they weren't there to begin with?

Last Thursday I was in south Florida and sat outside while the eye of Hurricane Katrina passed over my head. It was only a Category 1 then but it was pretty nasty. Eleven people died and, as of today, there were still homes without power. That night the weatherman said this storm was on its way to New Orleans. That was Thursday! Did anybody tell you? I know you didn't want to interrupt your vacation and I know how you don't like to get bad news. Plus, you had fundraisers to go to and mothers of dead soldiers to ignore and smear. You sure showed her!

I especially like how, the day after the hurricane, instead of flying to Louisiana, you flew to San Diego to party with your business peeps. Don't let people criticize you for this -- after all, the hurricane was over and what the heck could you do, put your finger in the dike?

And don't listen to those who, in the coming days, will reveal how you specifically reduced the Army Corps of Engineers' budget for New Orleans this summer for the third year in a row. You just tell them that even if you hadn't cut the money to fix those levees, there weren't going to be any Army engineers to fix them anyway because you had a much more important construction job for them -- BUILDING DEMOCRACY IN IRAQ!

On Day 3, when you finally left your vacation home, I have to say I was moved by how you had your Air Force One pilot descend from the clouds as you flew over New Orleans so you could catch a quick look of the disaster. Hey, I know you couldn't stop and grab a bullhorn and stand on some rubble and act like a commander in chief. Been there done that.

There will be those who will try to politicize this tragedy and try to use it against you. Just have your people keep pointing that out. Respond to nothing. Even those pesky scientists who predicted this would happen because the water in the Gulf of Mexico is getting hotter and hotter making a storm like this inevitable. Ignore them and all their global warming Chicken Littles. There is nothing unusual about a hurricane that was so wide it would be like having one F-4 tornado that stretched from New York to Cleveland.

No, Mr. Bush, you just stay the course. It's not your fault that 30 percent of New Orleans lives in poverty or that tens of thousands had no transportation to get out of town. C'mon, they're black! I mean, it's not like this happened to Kennebunkport. Can you imagine leaving white people on their roofs for five days? Don't make me laugh! Race has nothing -- NOTHING -- to do with this!

You hang in there, Mr. Bush. Just try to find a few of our Army helicopters and send them there. Pretend the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast are near Tikrit.

Yours,

Michael Moore

Dear Mr. Moore,

If you think our President is too busy to help out, why not put down the Big Mac and put up some money to fund for some rescue helicopters? After all, you must make a more than healthy living cashing in on the tragedies of others, spinning their words to your tune to make whatever Republican/Conservative Politician/View you have targeted into Public Enemy Number 1.

Bowling For Columbine, Fahrenheit 9-11. Do these ring any bells? I'm sure your "documentaries" have more than paid you back for the video and sound crew entourage you have follow people people around jamming their boom microphone and cameras in their faces, seeking out "answers."

It's also terribly difficult to get people out of their disease-ridden aftermath-city when they wish not to. After all, you're one that is so inclined to stand up for peoples rights. They have the right to stay their and do as they like, right?

Get Bent,
Skaw

I wouldn't put it past the White House to just slide his bullshit smeared letters through the shredder as soon as the arrive.

I'm no fan of Bush either, but atleast I live in a little thing called reality. And that mother of a dead soldier already was visited by Bush once guys. Had he visited her again, you know how much more trouble that would've caused with other parents/spouses wanting a second visit as well?

Never, ever listen to Micheal Moore.

I also believe that the only reason Pot isnt legal, is because there isnt some huge mega-corp produceing it. heck, Cigarettes are 100% more deadly, and the're INTENTIONALY chemicly addictive.

So why arent smokes ilegal? because governments make billions of dollers a year from taxing them. much more than its costing them to treat the people getting sick from them.

I think pot wasn't legal because so many years ago the plantoon owners had the government ban pot because they didn't want competition.. and being rich white men they had that power to persuade the government into banning and its stuck since.. atleast.. I think that's a reason why

Might I point out FEMA's leader has to be approved by the Senate. From Wikipedia:
After Bush entered office in January 2001, Brown joined FEMA as General Counsel. He was the first person hired by his long-time friend and college roommate, then-FEMA director Joe Allbaugh[13], who also ran Bush's election campaign in 2000. Allbaugh later named Brown his acting deputy director in September 2001. President Bush formally nominated him as deputy director on March 22, 2002, and the Senate confirmed many months later. Soon after, when Allbaugh left to join a private company, President Bush nominated him again in January 2003 for the directorship[14]. Brown was sworn in to his position on April 15, 2003.
If you want to be specific, Bush wasn't even the first to select him for the position.

Since we're on the political agenda. There are many policies he has that I disagree with.

Namely, his involvement of the Christian religion in his policies bother me. I understand that yes, Christianity DOES have some good moral guide lines, I don't think it should be brought over into decisions that effect our nation. I honestly don't mind a person being strong in their faith, however, I don't want it to effect my life. This effects his decisions in Abortion I would think, and Stem Cell Research. But why doesn't he do away with the death penalty? would Jesus honestly approve of it? I'm asking because I'm not 100% Christian and 100% Sure. I guess the LACK in Seperation of Church and state bothers me somewhat.

I don't think the war was a 100% Bad thing. I just think it's kinda went downhill. At first it was a great idea, with a good purpose. Now, I just am not sure. I'm not over there....so I won't make a judgement on said thing. One thing I have been thinking about, what if when choosing leaders, they choose an islamic radical as their leader? That would be through the process of democracy....what do we do if they do that? Take him down and tell them who to vote for? I'm honestly not sure there....I've got alot of thoughts that need organizing.

Edit: Messed up posting.

I find it scary that that man has control over so many nuclear weapons and he's only an ocean away from me.

Because we sure leave them in the hands of one person.

Oh wait, what was that? The Senate and The House? Pssh!
Supreme Court? More like Supreme Do-nothing! m i rite?

If Bush himself launched our weapons, not only would he break so many international crimes, but he'd be in a boat load of shit here, just from the view point of the way our government is constructed. No amount of political loopholes/party monopilzation will get you around 2/3s of 9+100+the boatload people in the House, to put our major weaponry in the hands of one person.

Hate him because he's not that great at his job, but don't hate him because you think* he controls an arsenal of warheads at his disposal to use any time he sees fit.

*Key word.

Trips, you should've had an option of dislike/dislike, but not slime. I don't think he's doing a great job, nor do I agree with his politics. Someone can do better, but others could do far worse.

Absolutely Batshit Insane

Impolite, perhaps, but what would you call the Bush administration apparently adopting a policy of PREEMPTIVE NUCLEAR ATTACKS.

"A PRESIDENT of the United States would be able to launch pre-emptive nuclear strikes against enemies planning to use weapons of mass destruction under a revised “nuclear operations” doctrine to be signed in the next few weeks.

In a significant shift after half a century of nuclear deterrence based on the threat of massive retaliation, the revised doctrine would allow pre-emptive strikes against states or terror groups, and to destroy chemical and biological weapons stockpiles.

Presidential approval would still be required for any nuclear strike, but the updated document, the existence of which was confirmed by the Pentagon at the weekend, emphasises the need for the US to adapt to a world of worsening proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) in which deterrence might fail. In that event, it states, “the United States must be prepared to use nuclear weapons if necessary”."

This isn't even pre-emption, because that implies immediacy that doesn't necessarily exist here. This is prevention. This is a doctrine of nuclear annihilation based on the potential of attack.

It's also terrible, TERRIBLE strategic policy. First strike doctrines only really exist for one reason: you have territory that you want to protect so badly that you're willing to use nuclear weapons to protect it from conventional attack, in situations where your conventional power isn't up to snuff.

(Western Europe in the Cold War is the paradigmatic example- the US couldn't defend it conventionally.)

It has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with defending against WMD. The core rule of MAD is that you defend against WMD with WMD... that is, nuclear weapons. The reason is simple- you don't want to provoke escalation or preemption yourself. If you say "only defense" and the other guy says "only defense", then neither of you attacks, as long as you're sure that both of you are credible. Both are safe. There exists the possibility that conventional conflict could ramp up to nuclear, but it's supposed to be so vanishingly remote that it would have to take something enormous (like the Soviet Union conquering western Europe) for it to happen, and even then it's a crapshoot as to whether or not it will escalate to nukes.

In this case, we've got Bush saying "we'll nuke you before you can nuke us". That throws the whole logic of MAD to the wind. Saying that will not stop anybody from getting weapons- far from it, they'll be rushing to do so on the off chance that you might nuke them for some other reason that you haven't stated yet- after all, you set the precedent. Once they get them, they'll use them, because they'll have nothing to lose, and the #1 rule in conflict prevention is making sure that nobody EVER ends up in that situation, because I for one don't want to see Tel Aviv, Damascus, Tehran and New York as nothing more than smoking craters of radioactive glass.

And in this case, it could be for something as nebulous as a state unwittingly hosting a terrorist group that a faction in DoD believes may have a cache of Sarin gas.

This is utter lunacy. You couldn't come up with a worse, more dangerous strategy if you tried. Even proposing it is a disaster. Somebody PLEASE tell me that it's a hoax or a distraction from the New Orleans disaster or red meat for Republicans or SOMETHING. Anything to stop those three horrible little words that every thinking human being should be really, really worried about right this fucking SECOND:

What about China?

And the war didn't make sense to me. I can see how it would make sense to someone who isn't very worldly. Or to someone who only listens to what they want to listen to, or in the majority's case, what they were fed.

You do realize just the opposite can be said in support of the war? We already had an 11+ page discussion of the war. Bottom line it came down to was conflicting philosophies on morality and human responsibility to help others. So let's cut to the chase and hear your philisophy and then use that to explain why you disagree with the war.

I'll read it first, in order to curb reposting the same idea.

Edit: Well I think I read the correct one, it was 7 pages long or so? About killing babies or something? Or did I overlook the correct thread?

Can you direct link me to the thread you were talking about since I can't seem to find it. (Unless I was correct and did read the right one).

I'm going to avoid that question, in order to avoid a side argument that would spawn a larger debate than necessary, and to help the discussion travel in the direction I wish. I don't believe, "It was morally the right thing to do and we had the responsibility to help those Iraqi's," was the point of the 'war on terror'.
