Noobs winning lots for things they dunno what to do with

Ok, im in a flaming mood (happens once a month), and while this isn't something that happened to me, it still pisses me off. (read on b4 u say "you werent there/ invalid cuz u have no SSs"). I have 2 examples of this.

My friend has been trying to get a UFO organ for sometime now, but its hard to get enuff ppl together, and he hasn't won a lot for the ones that has dropped. Well, just shit luck but other ppl want there gorgets too. WRONG.. he msged me pissed off, not cuz he didn't get the organ that dropped but the guy who won the lot DIDNT KNOW WHAT IT WAS FOR. So while my friend and most of the other ppl were one UFO organ away from getting their gorgets, it went to waste to a guy (IMO) was just being greedy and lotting cuz everyone else was.


Second example happened well over a year ago (so of course no SSs), but was reminded of this. Another friend and I were in this sky shell, and he told me he was waiting for N (hand or feet -can't remember) for a while. He even had the cursed waiting for it, made from an angel skin he painstakingly fished up. If i recall, back then, this cursed item was well over 1M. So finally one day the abj drops, but this other guy wins the lot. Well shit luck for this friend too, oh well. But then my friend sends a tell; the guy who won the lot DIDNT KNOW YOU NEED A CURSED ITEM to turn it into wearable gear, he just thought u get the item and yeah.. how the hell do these ppl get into the shell.

so in both cases, someone could have making their gear better from an item they knew what to do with, but some noob lots on it cause somone else needs it. and its not like these 2 items are that common to come by.

I remember my first time doing a sky run I didnt know much about abjurations. I simply read the game item description to see what abj went with what.

And if I ever got an item I didnt know what it was for I looked it up to see what quest or mission, etc it pertained to.

Alot of ppl dont do that. Most will lot just to lot. I remember something like that happened to me. I was farming my BLM test a while back and one finally dropped for me along with Water IV (back when it was alot of money) and I still needed the spell cause it was sold out. And ppl started lotting on it and wouldnt give it to me cause I was able to actually learn the spell right then and there (i did get it back though and learned it).
 
If they helped and won the lot for the item fairly, it doesn't matter if they know what it is, because they will figure it out soon enough. Just because you want it more, or have been anticipating a drop, doesn't give you more of a right to it over anyone else that helped get it.

and what *if* they find out they dont need it? im a mage, and the sea items i need don't require a UFO organ, but i helped kill it, so i should lot? cuz maybe i'll level a melee one day, but until then, it would sit in my MH - totally useless.

Unless otherwise stipulated that the drops go to a certain individual or individuals, then yeah, you should. If the person helping was not supposed to lot the organ, they should have told before hand. They had every right to lot it. And ya know, it's only a damn Yovra organ. Get a group of 4-5 together and go take down an Om'Yovra for him or something.

So.... if your friend wasn't mad enough to come make a flame theirself..... why would you feel the need to waste our time...? They did go and help, they have the right to get the item whether they need it now or not.... Later on they will end up needing/wanting it and it will be good that they got it... When i was a lower level, i won a lot on a WAR Test... and i had no clue what it was for... i ended up using that same Test when i hit 70 on war for Maat.... So regardless if they know what it is at first, they will find out and end up using it....

So i congratulate whoever it was who got the item. And for the guy who lost it, go cry a river and stop having your friend come on the forums and cry for you.

This can easily be solved by explaining to people in advance what mobs drop and what the item is used for.
 
lol. yea, a noob outlotted me once on Beastmanseal..... he probably didn't even know what it was for.... it was right before we BCNMd...
 
I had this happen to me once that I recall, was helping a pickup group with ZM8? (The one vs. the antica) and we killed a sabotender along the way to the BC, Star Spinel drops. I ask if anyone minds if I lot since I'd like the star necklace for BST. I lot, and everyone but one guy (A DD) passes. That guy also lots, and beats me. He then asks what it's for. I tell him it's for a +CHR +MP neck piece. He says "Oh, I don't want that after all", but doesn't pass. Spinel drops to him, and I was pissed. I didn't get my necklace til like 2 years later, despite periodic farming every time we did a BCNM down there.

If you dont like it you can skip over the flame instead of making weak ass counterflames we all have heard before.

If someone is consistently at the certain item, i can see why a little frustration can be at hand. Who the hell knows dude, maybe the said "friend" doesnt know what QCDN is. It is a legit flame, and a legit reason to flame. I've been outlotted on a few items and i can understand the frustration on the issue.

If that's your mentality on the issue, then its your own time to create the flame. This was a well thought out flame, if you dont well think out the flame. And dont back it with examples of the same incident that has happened over and over, then that's your own ass.
 
meh... this flame is about as good as any of the Peregrine flames.....

all we need now is for someone to be called a "fan boy" and its set
