Hey guys....I'm trying to get the Leviathan Quest in Norg and I'm wondering about how many Zinc Ores do I have to give that prick in Bastok If I've finished the Ninja Quest and Tenshodo Membership...?

And what's the best way to get Zinc Ore...I fought Worms and looked for Mining Points with no luck!

I did the zinc ore quest 30 times to get enough fame for Utsusemi and Tonko Ninja Scroll quests, riceballs in Jeuno Tenshendo place were 153 gil. The only thing I could tell you is look for some info on rice ball price and how much is needed to get the quest.

As far as Zinc Ore, I mined and fought Stone Eaters for a few, but a majority came for Bastok AH, never buy them for over 300gil, the prices change constantly, but I was always buying them at 220-300gil, then gilfarming waiting for them to drop again and bought more. Sometimes people will be selling them for 200 gil and doing shouts near the AH, so take off the filter if you have it on.

EDIT: Was doing some more research, people were saying you need level 2-3 fame in the city to unlock the level 20 avatar quest, more importantly, someone said they did zinc ore quest 20 times to get Levi, so maybe that should be enough...

EDIT 2: Found a quick little guide to Norg Fame, at 30 zinc ore quests, I was at Fame 5, so it should probably be somewhere around 20 times to get enough fame, check the Jeuno riceball price beforehand to make sure what level you got.

there is one other way to fame in norg for those quests:
do the yaguado necklace quest in windhurst. its not worth as much fame per turn-in as the zinc ore seems to be however.
i did that quest a total of 50 times as well as doing zinc about 10 and sandorias smuggling once.
i decided to do the yag one as though it took (lol!) 2 real days of playing (not 48 hrs, just 2 log in days) to do, i ended up making quite a bit of gil on the quest and the silvercoins + gil those yags in gidduess are partial to dropping.
zinc sets you back quite a bit to buy it all, and farming the stuff isnt very
time+effort vs. productivity effective from what i found.
i did my quests for the ninja spells, and even having taken fame high enough for tonko: ichi, utsusemi: ichi, hojo: ichi, and jubaku: ichi i still cant get leviathian quest. just somthing to keep in mind if your going after leviathian ^^

Thanks Syn for the tip. I really need to get my Tenshodo fame up..at least I can now guage my progress with your info.

Okay so I've given up on doing it the painful Zinc Ore way and have swiched to Necklaces (besides I get to hang around windy ^^) So anyone have any idea how many times I need to be doing this quest with the Tenshodo Invite/Ninja Quest done to get the leviathan quest? I've heard from 15-80 times so am a Little curious.

Turn in about 120 beads, if your rice ball price in Neptunes spire shop is 155 gil or less head to norg, if you still cant get the quest you should be able to do the other general quests to boost your fame up enough to get it (rusty quests, northern fur quests and I think you can do tonko quest before utsusemi, not sure)

just a fyi bead will take a long time if you dont have all the gobbie bag quests complete and a decent aoe spell (I just trained the low level yagudos on each side (drop silver coins but steal beast coins) and used cyclone, one full cyclone would usually kill them all) problem with using spells is that there are plenty of them, if you dont have like stone+phala+blink you'll get interupted plenty.

Well for all you summoners out there I ended up doing the Ninja Quest, Tenshodo Invite, the Zinc Ore once, and the Yaggy necklace quest 20 times and was able to get the Leviathan tuning fork!

i turned in 200 Yagudo Necklaces to have enough fame in Norg to quest for all the Ninjutsu scrolls. farmed them in Giddeus for about 2 nights. went in with only a weapon and came out with 29 Necklaces at a time. u turn them in in Windurst Woods

Sabia, did you check how much rice balls were when you were able to get Leviathan? I can get them for 142 atm. I'm not a SMN yet, but one day...Hehehe.

Even for people who are able to make "naked" runs easily, it helps if you do the gobbie bag quests. Even just the first 5 extra slots you get make the farming runs much better.
