Okay because of norton antivirus i have d/ced in the middle of 2 enms and a prt in 2 days because of it. It was off and yet it still pops and up fucking makes me d/c and makes it next to impossible of getting back on. and today my pt died in enm dem because of it. I HATE YOU NORTON

The windower stops that from happening. And yes, I am advocating breaking the ToS to get that.
 
Actually, that was one of the many reasons I said to hell with norton.
If you'd like, there is an antivirus program, i personally find much better, and never pulls you out of game like norton will :P
It's called AVG Antivirus, it's a free download for the free version, and the only downside to the free version under the purchased, is that updates are fewer (which doesnt bother me, they update like a day slower... lol)
in any case, i've had nothing but good experiences with AVG.
Just go to google and type in "AVG Antivirus Free Edition"
a sight with the download mirror will pop up np.
 
I just turned off norton. Screw viruses. :P The only thing I use my PC for is FFXI. :o

AVG is in every possible way better than norton or macafeeeeeeeeeucked

Norton uses up all of your resources and doesn't detect shit. Back in the days of me workin as a computer tech, I would constantly compare the 2. Everytime norton would detect shit and avg always had a list (AVG also detect some of the more serious spyware/adware). Anyways.. get AVG and turn automatic update and auto scans off and you'll be fine with FFXI. Run the updater and scan once a week or so though in safe mode.
 
If you try avg, make sure you turn norton off.

If you try and run 2 anti-virus programs at the same time, the recognize each other as a virus and try to contain each other. That's how it is with Norton and MacAfeepieceofshit anyway.

I had zero problems with norton running on my computer even before I got a windower. I turned that stupid auto-protect off, which I'm sure is what you're refering to when you say it uses up all your resources. McAfee is total garbage, it's like purposefully installing a virus on your own computer.
 
AVG is good. Norton seems to be slower and less effective on both my PC and my laptop. Myrrh's a good WHM, though, so it's okay if he gets disconnected every once in a while. My security system at home does that to me. Disconnects me for like five minutes late at night or something.

But wouldn't he be that much better if he didn't get disconnected? :lol:
and all said and done things would turn out better if god didn't hate him so very much.
 
If God didn't hate who so much? And I only get disconnected like once a month. When I do, I'm aware of it. It has nothing to do with AVG. I'm on PS2, anyway.
 
Hmm... What's it doing, exactly? Running updates? Cuz if you turn off the task scheduler, it won't update automatically. At least not on my PC. >.>
 
it just gives pop ups of pol trying to get on the net and it makes me d/c and it makes it insanly hard to get back on
