Not Good with Math..,

$48.00 * 0.9 = $43.2 total price...
... or in other words, $4.80 discount.

All you gotta do chu is move the digits one coloumn to the right to find 10%.

48.00
4.80

or use a cal if needs be /100 X the number like 10 for 10% then take it away from the number at the start

Why make it more complicated? Just move the decimal over lol

/100 for 1% time by the the % you need (8% so X 8) get the answer and remove from the first number
there you go
o btw moving the point does not all ways work

To figure a percentage you just convert your percentage to decimal form and multiply.

To convert your percentage to a decimal you take the number, 10.0% and you move the decimal to the left 2 places. That gives you a decimal form of percentage.

5% = .05
10%=.10
25%=.25
50%=.50
100%=1.00

lets say you are figuring up a tip for your server At restaurant. Your check was $20. 15% is customary as a tip, so you...

20*15% = 3
or
20*.15 = 3

Then you realize 3 bucks is nothing and add another 2 bucks to it because servers work there ass off and you tip her $5. $10 if they were nice and don't let you have an empty glass. If you can afford to pay for someone else to cook your food, you can afford to pay the person serving ya. But that's another story. I tend to ramble when I'm high and sleepy. Goodnight.

48-%100
?-%10
------------ 48 is the 100 percent of something, what is the 10 percent?
Use this cross method, 10x48/100=4.8
It's very easy and you won't forget it at all.

Another sample

50-100%
20-?%
--------- 50 is the 100% of something, what percentage is 20 of this?

20x100/50=40% Got it? I've use this since I was a little girl =o For me this is faster than remembering the decimal things lol I use them though

What about tax?

Easy way to figure out a number after tax is to multiply the number by 1.xx (xx being whatever the % tax is)

i.e. 7% tax = x1.07

And such...

If you're looking for JUST the tax, and not the total after tax is applied, you pretty much just do the same thing you could do when figuring out what the discount is...
