Nov. 28th Maintenance - All Worlds (Yes Today!)

- The price of Scholar spells has been adjusted.

I bet you early scroll adopters are feeling pretty shitty right now, eh?

Was it very expensive? Or maybe they'll become very happy after the adjustment..... ? XD

Not really.. they were a little unreasonable for such low level spells though

I've seen much worse that are still in the game.

- Calculation of performance assessment by Campaign Arbiters has been adjusted.

Does this mean the xp/an trick wont work anymore in Campaign?

They've capped your exp/an based on time you have tag. If you would get 600exp/an but you only had your tag for 5 minutes, then you would only get 200exp/an I believe. For 10 minutes wearing the tag you would get 400/400, then you would hit the 600 cap at 15 minutes. So basically, yes, they nerfed it.

Edit: I can't say this is 100% confirmed, this is just what I've read.

FINAL FANTASY XI

I think they're trying to break a record on maintenances.

In all honesty Dej, I would rather them fix the current bugs than keep things the way they are.

As it stands the NPC's outside forts will attack anything another NPC attacks. This means you can heel a pet to the fort, attack a mob, and everyone joins in. Not really gamebreaking, kinda fun to watch actually, but a bug nonetheless.

Also there is a big problem with parties in Campaign. If one person in party or alliance has a tag on, then the mobs will aggro anyone in that party/alliance. This is a big problem in the Necropolis when Campaign mobs tend to hang out right next to the C.A.

A third thing I've seen is you can cast cure on mobs. I'm not a big /whm person, so this might not be WotG specific, but I've never noticed it before. The BST in me did test it though, I charmed a tiger, got it's HP down to 50% or so, cast Cure 3 on it, but it didn't increase it's HP :/ That would have been huge.

You've always been able to cast cure on mobs, but to no effect unless they're undead.

I completeley, 100% agree with your statement Cletsz, but you have to also understand that SE could handle things better - for example, they could first iron out the damn bugs before releasing everything. All they do with this attitude is relay the real possibility that they rush to acomplish deadlines, and instead release a half-assed update/expansion, instead of taking their time and releasing something fully tested and complete.

This factor cuts into the play time of a lot of people, especially the people who have these timezones to play. I'm not saying, omg it's the end of the world, but when you have 2 maintenances within the timespan of 3 days, that's just a bit too much.

I understand they have to fix stuff, but instead of having to keep fixing crap every other day, hold stuff a bit more, or allow yourself a further deadline. You won't be seeing me, for example, show up at a meeting with half a project and say, well, i'll fix it as we go.

I think he meant charmed mobs?

It doesn't matter. You've always been able to cast cure on them to no effect as well. Since pet food is in the game, that's not likely to ever change.

Yeah, you're right, i'm 100% sure you won't be able to cure them with magic, aside from a new merit possibly.

I didn't mean charmed mobs. You still can't cast cure on them. I just wasn't aware you could cast cure on any mob. Like I said, I'm a whm noob.

As far as the issue with 2 maintenances within 3 days, yes that is bad. I guess I have a more apathetic attitude because it goes one while I'm at work. I know it happens during EU primetime, and that's unfortunate. But with a global game, maintenance is always going to affect someone at a bad time.

The Campaign fix is probably for the said Cure spamming with gear swap... The one you know everyone said GMs would do nothing about on the flame board.

That's a hard one to fix the way the system is set up. Since the attack technically starts 20 minutes before the mobs show up, it's hard to determine when you can start earning points and when you can't. The only other way to fix it is to greatly reduce the points earned by curing, and that's going to cause more headaches than it will resolve. It would be nice however to do like they do in Besieged, where they anounce when the Beastmen have arrived. If they impliment this, they can have a set time for when you can start earning points, and they'll notify everyone in zone of what's going on. Win-win situation in my book.

True, it is already pretty difficult to get 600xp as a Mage. As I found out last night on BLM, After nuking/kiting for over 30 min one Quadav. only amounted to ~450 or so.. with even less AN. while on BLU, between melee attacks and BLU spells. easily racked up to 600 xp. If only people would not look for loop holes to better themselves, and just play the game like the rest of us, SE wouldnt have to make adjustments to the system to discourage it... but such is life >.>

One thing to note. It's been theorized that where you campaign has a lot of bearing on reward. If you take part in a campaign that's under your nation's control, you have to do twice the work to get the same reward. It's not so much a hard 50% cut, because the cap is still the same, it's just twice as hard to cap out your exp. Again, this is just a theory, but it seems to be true.

hmm, that seems backwards. I figured it be the other way around.

I hope we get this month's service free since we haven't actually got to play the game we pay for.

I'm pretty sure we've gotten to play the game we pay for, for, oh, about 97% of the month? At least? Now you're welcome to go and demand a refund of a proportional amount of the monthly fee, for the less than 3% you've been screwed out of (and that's assuming you'd be at home and would otherwise have been able to play *anyway* for the full duration of each and every maintenance - as for me, I've been at school/work so it hasn't affected me at all), but I've got better stuff to do with my time than make a stink about tiny percentages of time.

That's not to say that they shouldn't be better at ironing out bugs before release, or at fixing them all at once, or catching them sooner. They should. But that doesn't justify making a mountain out of a molehill as far as the time you've been deprived. All it demonstrates is that you're prone to exaggeration and not someone SE should pay much attention to. :P
