This thread is following on from my earlier one concerning an email I received from a reader of my blog regarding opinions about end-game.

http://www.qcdn.org/showthread.php?t=36234

I thought I would create a new thread because of something that touched me not only as a player, but as a person. Please firstly read Kevin's replying email then watch the video with an open mind and heart.

The video may need pausing if you're a slow reader as the dialog is quite fast moving but the story touched me and reminded me of something we all should remember.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my e-mail! <3 <3 I have actually found a few forums touching base on some of my questions since I wrote to you, and it seems the problem is more server based than anything . It also seems the SE's "Task Force" is avidly cracking down on the larger scale gil sellers and botters, but the conspiracy theroists still claim that the larger ones pay off SE to look the other way. :( All in all, I really feel it is absolutley necsesary for me to check this game out. That "magic" feeling of exploration and adventure is long gone from a game that I have played for over a year-and-half, basically touching every "job" that WoW has at least once, and have visted every place in the world of "Azeroth". Even with WoW's Burning Crusade Expasion on the close horizon, I still have a genuine desire to become a member in Vana'diel community. It just seems so compelling to me, and I have put its world on an untouchable pedastal ever since I became interested, so long ago.

One thing I recommend you check out is a short little story video I found on youtube.com that is enough to make any grown man come to tears (I know I did). It almost made me drop everything I was doing and buy the game immediately O.o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARghlVjBab0

Apologies, errors of Copy & Paste. It will work now.

This vid makes me tear up a bit everytime i see it ; ;

This has had such a massive impact on me, I have been tearful myself for about fifteen minutes. I miss those days, old friends the feelings and the adventures. Everything changed over time, and I have tried my best myself to keep my own adventurer spirit but even I now feel as guilty as the story teller.

i could dig up a thread on this from 3 years back and 2 reposts i've done personally of since.... i love that flash, it may be the simplest and most touching FFXI fan tribute that ever will be made.

that flash won the video contest at the SE festival for aht urghan didnt it?
reminds me of the atmaweapons...i tried to recreate it but no one was interested :/
i, to this day still have my atmaweapons and OFV pearls.

I remember helping you guys on a Eco-Warrior with Hayako.. Since she couldn't get the quest, we killed everything so you could get right to the boss.. Those were fun days, indeed..

Thats a neat little video.

lol...was this vid made as a joke or something? I couldn't help but laugh watching it. Seriously, not tryin to be a dick but - why the hell would you cry over this? Do you hear sad music and become sad all of a sudden?
Also, it seemed it ended at the climax of the story, wth happened after that?
