Nrsss and NRHQ LS

Well, I think I'm going to start this nice long, and probably overly asinine flame with background then move into the real stuff. I joined a shell back on Midgardsormr by the name of NewRevolutionHQ, under the belief that it was only a sky shell. Being my first endgame shell I was ecstatic to say the least. As time went on I began to notice that the leader, Nrsss, really wasn't a "leader" more of a "hey lets do what I want and if it happens to help anyone else, so be it". (I wish I had SS of this part, but I would of had to have been taking SS since just before Christmas to have a detailed understanding of it.)

In February I claimed my first and only, as it turns out, piece of gear from Sky. Byakko's Haidate. I was like "OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE I GOT IT!!!" and have been thrilled since then. So after that I hadn't claimed anything else and was just waiting on the fast pants from Kirin. Well as of March 19th apparently I started pissing people off. Something about ">.>" being offensive when someone messes up and its gets pointed out. Apparently I'm bad about pointing out others peoples mistakes and it really screws with their self-esteem to be criticized. Like "You are a WHM and know you are probably going to die, why didn't you cast RR before we started when the other 2 WHMs were casting it and buffing?". Rescue missions for 2 of the 3 WHMs due to them not having RR up is just pathetic.

Oh, this is also a twice a week event shell, easy to attend, Wednesdays and Fridays. So it was 8 events from the time when I started pissing people off until the time I was kicked. And, as Nrsss says, I never had a complaint in the 3-3.5 months prior. Odd, no? Anyways, I digress, last night, 04/16/2010, I was basically told that having skill and not a submissive personality got me kicked. At first I was a little shocked, but then I was honestly happy about it, I no longer have to subject myself to the phail that is Nrsss's shell anymore. Even though next week, would have most likely been my last with them anyways.

To avoid the people that are just going to say that "you are posting this because you're butt hurt about getting kicked". There are other members, that when they don't get their way they just logout for the night (and get full credit for the night). I won't mention names, but he/she knows who I'm talking about it. And there are other people that continuously make the same errors week after week no matter what we're doing. Like white mages that go afk during Kirin fights, and not casting cures because they are afraid of pulling hate. Yes that happened, on Kirin, two weeks in a row by the same person. They then missed 3 weeks in a row. Lets not forget the person that would log on, notice that a certain WHM was on and the go /anon /away to keep from having to go, but he would always blow his cover by saying something in the ls chat. Which was of course ignored by the leaders. The same person while we were fighting a couple of the Jailer's in Sea was asked to join the blm pt, which he did, and to keep Diabolos out for the refresh. Instead, he used Garuda over and over. Not major, but it was a deliberate defiance of what was asked of him. Not the first, I'll never know if it will be the last, and probably not the last time he'll do such a thing. Apparently that was a reason I was kicked. Guess friends that have known each other for years get special treatment.

Last week we were in Sea farming for organs and we were told "All organs are free-lot." So as we are killing UFOs I was having a very rare night and was lotting high enough to win the organs, I needed 3 going into it and when he asked who needed them my response was "me x3 =/", and there were a few "lol" statements. So the first 3, I managed to win, one of those was with a 269 roll. Yes a 269, against supposedly 7 other people. I know 3 of the people that were lotting were on vent and just did it to try and beat me, so it was all in good fun. After the first two I rolled on the third, the last one I would need for the 2 Gorgets I want. I was given a guilt trip about letting other people have them and it was the courteous thing to do and to not be greedy. Yet again though, it was all free-lot and everyone had the same chance to win them. Needless to say after the guilt trip I passed it, and the harassing continued. Of course though it was from 2 of the leaders so even if I complained the way others did about me "harassing" them, nothing would have been done or said.

By a said statement above with next week being my last week, I had informed Nrsss, after the whole Sea incident, that I would be leaving his shell on the night that I received W. Legs. Of course I would have stayed the whole night to help them kill whatever else was planned but it was a notice, going out on a limb that this is what caused my demise more than anything. So the following week, our Wednesday run was cancelled, found out why last night, and in an ironic twist in the SS linked below, he said he didn't want to waste my time on the Wednesday run, yet he let me go on a 5 hour venture last night just to kick me after words. Time wasted still, no? All in all 200k for a little over 2 months of time. Better than nothing I suppose but still rather crappy.

Lesson learned, don't join a shell where 1/2 the leaders have been friends for years and stick together no matter what.

I found this last part really amusing, when Nrsss broke my pearl, 3 people quit instantly. Two of which he had just asked that night to replace one of the leaders that has been absent for an extended period of time. This was probably my favorite part of the night all-in-all.

tl;dr version: Nrsss and his shell NewRevolutionHQ suck. All the leaders look out for themselves and close friends only. If your not in their click, don't interact with them, the leaders at least. Mostly the people are nice, just horribly untalented.

The leader, eh....personally I don't care for how he decided to kick you, that's like...stupid.

He's just stupid. Granted, I can see people getting annoyed with face emotes in chat but really, if someone is that butt hurt and has a hit to their "self-esteem" such as it is, then they really shouldn't be playing this game, because clearly you have more issues going on that just that. My thing is if you have a problem with what I said: SAY IT TO ME, not go Q.Q to a leader because then we gotta have these stupid "parent teacher conferences" over some dumb bullshit best left for elementary school where it belongs.

I can understand if you out right said something bad and just berated them in chat, not sure if you did but if you did that then I can understand you being kicked. The issue with reraise I've seen happen. I've forgotten reraise sometimes just out of habit, I assume I did it already, but sometimes I find I forgot to do it after I die but when I get up, I apply it and move on. But if that was occurring on a regular basis....I would have said something and been kinda nasty about it cause I know someone would have said it to me.

I know some people take what they do in game seriously in terms of how they play their job and there are some that don't and could careless about what other people say (sadly for the latter) on their skill but really? A self-esteem blow? I'm sorry but I can't see that.

When I was in sea ld:, organs with the exception of the organs we may have needed for NMs went free lot, if you got them you got them and common courtesy does play a part but really people didn't raise a fuss over someone getting lucky more than someone else. It was more like," awww I didn't get it, damn you <player name>!" but it was really all in jest never taken personally and people moved on there merry little way. As sad as this ended for you all you can do is just move on. I advise you to make sure you know the leaders well before you join another end-game LS. If you know something is shady, it probably IS shady, just leave before you get screwed.

Well, that's fcked up. I'd be a sad panda if I wouldn't be authorized to use emotes in chat. Advices can be interpreted differently depending on the people too. I mean, if I get an advice from someone I know is a dick, I'll usually go in defense mode and tell him to piss off and that I don't need him to teach me how to play. On the other hand, if it's someone that I know and have that "cool bro aura", well, I'll take it more into consideration because he's not out there ready to humiliate me on the public place. So yeah, in my book, most of these issues come from the interpretation you get from the other person.

And Dav, I don't even remember anyone saying anything about organs in sea D:. People were just getting them as they dropped as far as I recall. And for those who needed 1-2 organs of a specific type, they were asking if other people could pass them. Nobody ever bitched about that. At least, nobody came to me whining. We would have heard from Mori pretty fast if something would have came up anyway lol.

They are way better off giving W legs to someone whose gonna stick around than someone who has already put in their two weeks notice.

The two come hand in hand, and if any of those people had a decent personality where they understood that emotes are just in good fun and that they are supposed to have RR up.. Thenj that shell would be a decent shell. They all sound like a bunch of idiots. Be glad you're rid of them.

I'm not generally one to take part in direct attacks (outside of the game) on people I know in-game, so I didn't plan on ever posting my own flames on this board. But as this is the first thread on here that I actually have a personal interest in, I may as well add in my two cents. I tend to be excessively verbose, so if you don't want to read this novel, I won't take it personally. See the "tl;dr" section at the bottom.

I joined NRHQ myself a few months ago, kind of on a whim. One of my best in-game friends was in the shell, and I went up to sky one night out of sheer boredom to see what she and the shell were up to. I had previously helped to lead a sky shell for almost 2 years, so I know the whole region and its NM system like the back of my hand. Upon introducing me to her shell, I offered to help them out with a few god kills. I'm a career WHM, and an extra WHM never hurts, right? So they let me help, and as it turns out, they gave me "attendance points" for assisting, even though I wasn't actually a member of the shell. After doing a similar thing the following week, I decided to ask Nrsss if he would like me to join them full-time as a regular member. It was something to do, and there were still a couple items from sky that I had never acquired from my previous shell. Since they had been giving me spendable points already, I figured I could join, spend them, and leave. I'm pretty sure Nrsss was well aware that this was my plan, since after the first item I got, he basically asked me if there was anything else I needed, wondering if I'd be sticking around longer. As there were a couple more items I didn't have, I said yes.

It did not take long for me to realize the average calibre of people in this shell. Don't get me wrong, for the most part, they are all really nice people, fun to play with, and I always got along well with most all of them. But I could tell that most all of them were VERY casual players, relatively inexperienced, and not hard-core by any means. There's nothing wrong with that, and I actually enjoyed helping to lead people around and provide instruction when questions were asked.

I met Ghost in that shell, as I did not know him before I joined. I could tell immediately that he was much more of a hard-core style player. He stood out to me as one of the people that actually knew what he was doing, inside and out. There were definitely a few other players in the shell that were quite obviously well above the average as well, so Ghost wasn't the only one. I actually asked Ghost and two of those others if they would be interested in joining my Dynamis shell after I saw their play-style. Two more NRHQ members were already in my Dynamis shell.

As mentioned, the remainder of NRHQ was comprised of the very casual-style players, which I generally have no problems with. However, within that group there were also, to put it bluntly, the chronic dipshits. The people that would consistently screw up things that they were instructed on multiple times, bitch about things not going well afterward, and often simply rage-quit when they didn't like something, or things didn't go perfectly. I never once saw the leader, Nrsss, ever do anything to attempt to correct that behavior, the entire time I was in the shell. He would just stick his head in the sand whenever it happened.

Now combine this with the fact that Nrsss himself was one of the people I'd consider a "chronic dipshit". He wasn't one to rage-quit or anything, and given his "corporate CEO" style of speech, I'm sure he's a very nice guy in real life, but frankly, he's a horrible shell leader. He's totally not the type of person that should be given any kind of tactical-planning type of responsibility. He's just not capable of it (admittedly though, from what I could tell, he did do a fairly good job with the secretarial work). So being forced to follow his "guidance" can get exceedingly frustrating.

Needless to say, these types of things rapidly started to grate on people such as Ghost, my friend, and myself. All three of us (not just Ghost) found ourselves occasionally saying something (usually quite tactfully) about these things when they happened. Why the leaders focused only on Ghost's complaints, I'm not sure.

In line with what one of the above posters said, I'm convinced that after Ghost got fed up enough one night to tell Nrsss that if things didn't change, he was planning to leave after he spent his points on his W. Legs, Nrsss must have decided that he was going to kick him before he could do that, and then had to grasp for reasons to do it. Every complaint he listed in that screenshot was ridiculous, but were nevertheless heeded and corrected by Ghost after Nrsss said something to him.

The VNM event night I was not able to get online, but I was told what happened by several people. It was the first time ever that they had tried to do any of these VNM things, and hence really had no idea what they were doing. Prior to that night, Ghost, myself, and a few others started playing with them just to get a feel for how it worked, how hard they were, and what to expect. Nrsss was being his normal demanding (but bumbling) self and making some rather silly requests of people based on a slew of misinformation he acquired from god knows where. He was insisting that he knew how things worked when he clearly didn't, and was just being an all-around pain in the butt. I'm not surprised that he tried to pop some higher-tier mobs with a grossly under-prepared group. Ghost was just one of the only people to speak out in an attempt to ensure that they wouldn't simply get their asses handed to them. A wise precaution, given the large number of times I have personally witnessed this shell getting their asses handed to them even on things they HAD done several times before.

The ">.>" thing is just plain stupid. I think I only ever saw him do it like 2-3 times total. Regardless, as soon as Nrsss told him that it "bothered" people (and whoever it was bothering needs to take the pacifier out of their mouth and grow the fuck up), Ghost stopped doing it.

As for the UFO organ thing, I think that by that point Nrsss and others had already decided that they didn't like Ghost, and were just finding anything they could to bitch him out for. I would bet that if someone else had gotten lucky lots 3 times that night (especially if it was one of the "core" group that Ghost mentioned in his post), nothing would have been said.

I think the part that bothers me most is how they just out-right kicked Ghost. The conversation in the screenshots should have been the "look, we have a problem here, and you need to correct it" discussion. That discussion never happened, he was simply kicked. Again, I'm sure that it's because Ghost, in frustration one night, made the mistake of being honest with Nrsss, and telling him that he planned to leave after spending his points.

Anyway, as I was there the night he was kicked, I afterward told Nrsss exactly what I thought of him and his shell, and dropped my pearl. My friend did the same, and at least two other people that we know also plan to never go to another event with them. I really wish the best to the remainder of their shell, since (as I said before) I really liked most of them. There's a bunch of really nice people in that shell that I had a lot of fun doing events with, even if many of them aren't exactly the most experienced players. Hopefully the ones with potential leave soon and find themselves a real event shell to do things with, and can better enjoy what the game has to offer.


tl:dr version: Ghost is right, Nrsss and his administration of the NRHQ linkshell pretty much just suck. When he was kicked, I and at least three others also dropped our pearls. Most of the shell is inexperienced, and the leader is not capable of helping them improve, as he is one of the worst.

Yeah its best to just leave patheric groups like that. Let them go on with there wipes and half-assed events. Its normal to want people to be on there A game, and being upset when people give C to F when you yourself is trying hard. To me it just sounds like a bunch of leadership favoritism and personally gruding towards you which is what you said. I definatly know the type.

Speaking now as a FORMER member of NRHQ, I can say that things lately were getting out of hand, but not by Ghost's part.

I've had issues with what seemed to be some favoritism and so forth. I know the WHM in question that he was talking about. He WAS in my Dynamis shell and once he got his SMN Horn, he abruptly left. He would constantly go AFK and then when we called him on going for not saying anything, he would get defensive and say that he did announce he was going AFK (despite us looking back in LS and pty chat that he didn't).

I spoke with Nrsss the following week after the UFO farming debacle and really didin't like the answers he gave me. No matter what I said, I would get the same response and things started to sound like a broken record.

My girlfriend, who is also in the shell, felt the same way as I did. After Ghost was told to pass on the organs both she and I warped out and logged off without saying anything because we were pissed.

Freelot = freelot. Not "well, it's freelot but not for you."

After speaking with Nrsss, I decided to take a break for a couple of weeks to let things cool off. That is, until I read this post from Ghost.

I'm done. Next time I get on the game my pearl is getting dropped and I'm sure my girlfriend will drop hers too. I have no need for shells that seem to want to change the rules on the fly (which this one does).

But yeah, I refrained from naming any names, because I don't like to do that to people, but there's a good few of them that I'd love to see post in here so I can call them out on their behavior. That WHM is in my Limbus shell too, and I swear he rage-quits every time he sees me online (or switches to another job) because he somehow thinks I'm trying to upstage his WHM. I really never tried to do that.

By the way Kai... I'm in the market for a new Dynamis shell myself, when does yours run? And do you need a WHM?

Hi guys. Yes, Kai summed it up very well for me. I didn't say anything when i went back to my MH that night because I have a tendency when i get really pissed off I am incoherent. So yes, when I saw them telling you to pass Kai got an earful but that's about it. It REALLY made me angry. And I had no idea until this morning that Ghost's pearl was broken. I was willing to cool down after a couple of weeks, but now, no freakin' way. Yay for free Friday and Wednesdays!

That whm that you were talking about made me angry quite often, but I figured it was just Kai and I who were seeing it.

Another thing that I saw in the screenshots that bothered me was that fact that Nrss made it quite clear that he can manipulate the lotting habits of all members against people that didn't bend to his will. Saying that "<person> could have lotted against you but I told him not to" my memory fails me where I read that (try reading to find it) but thats somthing else I had picked up on. I predict that shell crashing a burning. Also I hope you have fun in sky last night Ghostie and Diviny ^^.

Seriously, yeah. That's why we left that night rather abruptly. Ginny was fussing a lot and we both just logged. Nrsss sent me a tell asking if I was logging and I just said "yeah" and /shutdown.

Tried to talk to him, but got the "The rules state..." blah blah blah "greedy people" blah blah blah. Broken record stuff. Thought chilling for a couple of weeks to cool off would be okay, but as Ginny said we didn't know his pearl got broken until reading this. Made the decision to drop the pearl much easier.
