O.O to new armors

I meant Yigit actually. The whole topic of the thread.
Ah'. I was just refering to your comment that Rostrum's were never good. Up until now, they were the best for just about all mages. Now blms have a better alternative.

Actually, BLM AF2 > Rostrums.

Rostrums are trash if you have them. But situationaly, these are on pair with blm af2 boots.

Forgot about Blmaf2. See those so rarely. Conserve mp equip is nice.

Rostrums weren't really that great to begin with.

Agreed, BLM AF2 > Rostrums, 1 less INT but conserve MP+5 will be better in the long run, plus they not taking 30 from my already low Taru HP.

Manteel isn't even any good compared to errant. Just overpriced toy to show off your money in Jeuno. Spellcasting time is irrelevent because you have to wait the same amount of time for it to finish before casting your next song.

You don't have to wait the same amount of time. The Manteel allows me to change the 12 seconds I normally wait between Ballad into 11 seconds. Yeah, it is only 1 second difference, but in fast killing and moving camps, 1 second makes a lot of difference. You can also start running earlier when casting the songs. I can start moving at around 50% with the Manteel on rather than the old 75%ish.

Uhm, its -12% casting time. So you should be able to start running at 63%. I start running at 70% with rostrum pumps 5%. However, when I've seen people try subbing rdm, they still have to wait for the normal 100% before casting their next spell which equals no saved time. 1 second isn't worth it though. Consider how long it would taking exping with the slight improvment from manteel to make up for the time spent getting said manteel (or the money equivalent it can buy). Brd equip is largely insignifigant. Unlike melees, a nude brd with instruments = 95% effectiveness of an extreme equiped brd. Our gear just doesn't matter much. If spellcasting time was important in the slightest, all brds would use the lvl 50 jse ring and sub rdm.

I want Rosturms solely because they're alls leek and black. But no one does Rostrum runs anymore. Go fg, after like 9 months of trying.. ¬_¬

But yeah, the mage set is...sortof blah. =P

Agit? Do you mean agility? Anyway, Rostrum are good because they have nice stats and there are few good alternatives (until now anyway). Rostrum will still be a superior choice for whm and rdm.

RDM can't wear Rostrum pumps, and for WHM I'd rather wear Cure Clogs and sub out MND boots (Blessed or Cleric's) when it so happens that you need it. Only advantage Rostrums would really have is non-cure casttime and MP, but I have over 1.1k at 70 anyway, so I hardly think MP's an issue. ^^;

Cure clogs are such a waste of money. They're nice for that once-a-month time your cure is just a second too late, but 99% of the time they're pointless.

Rostrums are nice for: Gods/HNMs/Long casting nukes (Aincient magic). The MP is nice to keep you going during the long haul at kirin, the fast cast is semi-useful for longer nukes, and there is one more int which is like 20 dmg onto thundaga III.
AF2 are nice for: Warps, Teleports, general nukage, high mp spells in general, and if your tank isn't very good/you're over nuking.
Yigit are nice for: Enhancing the size of your e-penis with higher damaging nukes... Getting hate faster (than rostrums)...

And since I don't know how to get Yigit gear, it could turn out to be not worth it in terms of the amount effort involved to get the peice of equipment (although I'm guessing it can't be as hard as getting rostrums/AF2...)

Yigit gear is from the assaults, I think.

Yea, Assault points are used to purchase the Yigit gear. 20k Assault points per piece of Yigit, 1 piece of Yigit available from each of the 5 Assault areas.

they arent bad if they are stacked with the cure casting time merits.. (you can cut what-- a combined 25% off casting time or so?) thats alot better then the 1% fastcast on the rostrums anyways... only downfall is no mp :(

zenith pumps (int/mnd+2 50hp>50mp) are better than rostrum pumps for whm, blm, and smn too. and like myrid said, rdm cant wear rostrums anyways...

Assuming cure cast time reduction caps at 5 upgrades, that's 20% from that and 15% from Cure Clogs, so -35% cast time from cures combined. I've only done 4 cure cast time upgrades, so I'm not sure if it caps at 5 or higher.

Rostrum are 5% fastcast that works on all spells. Cure clogs only work on cures...which are the spells you need it the least on. I prefer faster casting on haste, regens, and raises.

Much harder to gain than Rostrum's imo. I very rarely see anyone with these. Also, no fast cast.

All job specific merit upgrades cap at 5. My regen upgrades is capped at 5.

Actually, I wear the rostrums for the mp and the +mnd, I don't really care about fast cast or -cure casting time. With full merits and cure clogs, you can drop your cure casts to really low speeds, but like I said 99% of the time you don't need it. With max merits(4% per merit) and cure clogs, you'll be at -35% cast time.

Zenith is actually 2chr 2int 50hp=>50mp. They're still nice, but ugly :(

I don't see why you wouldn't want the reduced cure casting time.. WHMs are so slow at casting compared to RDMs.. :p

I can understand Rostrum for raising, but I don't think the (1-5% debatable) rostrums are going to be noticable on regen and haste. It'll knock a fraction of a second off. I'd rather have a larger fraction of a second knocked off my cures, which does occasionally save people.

You can start running before the song goes off and the animations appear around your character. I can start running at a little after 50% and the song goes off. That might just be lag though.

And I use the Minstrel's Ring sometimes when I find myself in yellow HP a lot. That is -37% Song Casting time. Add the 5% from Rostrums and whatever the % is from RDM sub and you are looking at a pretty nice delay. Add in Sheik Gages which allow for shorter recasts and you can be singing pretty damn fast. Gear is significant even for a bad. However, even an insignificant Bard can still increase XP over time. I'll take my Manteel over Errant any day of the week.

Yeah, that depends on your connection. On my laggy school connection, I have to stand in one place 3 seconds before starting a song because of the lag, but I can start running around 3 seconds earlier than on a normal connection. On my home connection I can't move until 70% without interrupting (fast connection).

What I'm not convinced of is whether you can actually start new spells early. On a laggy connection, I can start my next spell real early because it takes so long for it to reach and register the server. On a fast connection though, I can't start nearly as early.
I'd rather have a larger fraction of a second knocked off my cures,
5% on a 45 second spell is 2.25 seconds saved. 20% on a 4 second cure is .8 seconds faster. 5% for the spells that actually take a while to cast will always be a larger amount than that saved on cures. Cures are fast already. Either the tank is one shotted or he isn't. Much better off putting the merits in regen upgrades I think, but that's personal perference I suppose.
(1-5% debatable)
There is no debate. It is 5%. It is very obvious on long casting spells like reraise, raise3, teleports. It was also confirmed by many sources on ffxionline.com when pumps were first released because people thought it didn't work unless you subbed rdm. I think the 1% rumor was just started by rdms trying to defend their fast caster title.

I'll take errant over manteel anyday. More chr, -enimity, and it frees up a horde of money that could be spent on other improvements that more than make up for -12% cast time. Unless all your jobs have the absolute best armor in the game money can buy, there are better things for you to spend your money on. Much like the discussion of Noble's tunic vs Aristocrat's. The improvement is so marginal and cost difference so high, there are better things to get. Manteel is like Aritocrats, just for bragging rights.
