Ok. So I just got my 360 and picked this up as my first game. First thoughts of it are awesome as I am playing and loving it.

I do have one question so far. Is there any way to lower the bounty on you if you do something wrong? I don't want to keep having to fight guards and stuff lol

Nope, sadly, you can not lower bounty unless you go to jail or pay off the fines. My record bounty was in the 80k range... I killed every guard in Imperial City.

Spoiler:

If you do the thieves guild quests, you eventually become the grey fox and can switch between yourself and the grey fox, so you can kill as many guards as you want then take off the hat and you have a 0 bounty.

lol Great, I guess I will just keep killing them.

Also, now I am totally stuck in the Shrine where those Red Hooded people are after stealing that book. I found the door that leads back out to the cavern, but it needs a key and I don't have one, and I checked all the dead bodies and no keys.

Ok, well I totally seem to suck at pickpocketing. I just joined the Thieves Guild and I can't pickpocket anything without getting caught.

Is there a place to buy lockpicks?

The assassin's guild sells lockpicks, although if you wait until 10 I think(might be 14), you can do one of the daedra shrine quests for the skeleton key, which is an unbreakable lockpick. It's located NE of the SE most town on the map, I just forget the name. Also, one of the PC mods I have for oblivion periodically lowers my bounty if I don't do anything. It's a nice little feature for if I accidently do something illegal and get seen, without having to go to jail.

Edit: I decided to just modify the picture I posted in one of the earlier threads, it's got the locations of vindesel, the azure star and the skeleton key listed. I made it a link instead of just posting the picture in case no one wanted to see it.

Modified Map.

Wait until 10 or 14 what? lol

I'm still level 1 and have barely touched the Main Quest. I have been doing stuff for the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood lol I steal and kill ^^

Sorry, you have to wait until you're level 10 or 14. The daedra shrine quests have a minimum level requirement before you can do the quest, I forgot to mention that.

Ah, gotcha. I just hit level 2. Forgot I had to sleep to get my level lol

If you join the Thieves Guild, you can have the higher ups clear bounty. I think it costs 1/2 the actual bounty fee, or some junk like that. Depending on your bounty, it'll be a better alternative than obviously paying up the full price, or serving your sentence, as skill levels reduce depending on the bounty value.

Lanien, at level 20, you can do all the Daedric Shrine Side Quests. These yield.. interesting items(Such as a staff that makes a clone of the target NPC, that follows you around and fights for you)

As well, the main story calls for one to be used, removing it forever. Just a tip, while the story says Azura's Star, any of the Daedric Artifacts can be used, but Azura's Star is by far, the most useful one. It's a reusable Grand Soul Gem(the second biggest type after Black, which are the only soul gems that can capture human souls.) So for the love of god, use one of the other Artifacts instead, as Soul Gems are used for Enchanting equipment and refilling charges on enchanted weapons, only carrying around Azura's Star is a lovely thing.

For some info on the items you obtain from these, check out this page.

Figure out which one you wouldn't mind parting with, and use that one for the story quest. That sites a good reference for info overall too.

Thanks for the info Skaw. I just hit level 3 and I am working on getting my Assassination guild rank up. Right now I am breaking into the place where I started the game at lol I'm having the hardest time getting past the guard with the torch.

Which item did you give up for the quest?

EDIT: And yeah, I figured out the bounty thing. It's very nice being able to go slit people's throats in the assassination missions, and then go clear my name through the thief guild

Sadly, Azura's Star, cause I wasn't aware any artifact worked until someone told me. Hated myself for the rest of the game. I recommend giving up one of the weapons though, depending on which weapon type you like using.

The most useful thing about Azura's Star, is it allows you to convert all your Grand Soul Gems to Black(once you find out how anyway, leaving that part to your own finding) since you'll no longer need Grand Soul Gems. Black, being the biggest soul gems, capable of capturing human souls, are the best type of soul gems for enchanting equipment and weapons, leaving Azura's Star as an unlimited refillable battery for your enchanted weapons.

Although I chose Sorcerer class, I love using Blades lol

The Dark Brotherhood storyline is probably my favorite, Lanien. Especially so since it produces the best horse in the game. He's so delightfully evil looking. And the best part is, you get it realtively early in the missions, considering how time consuming the later ones become from travel time.

Shadowmere is quite possibly the only reward that can come out of The Dark Brotherhood quests that'd you'd ever need. More so than the metric crapton of gold pieces and completion bonus.

Yeah, this line of quests have been pretty cool so far. I have this slight feeling that my game is glitched or something. I got into the area where I started, and I am supposed to kill the Dark Elf on the other side. Now to get the bonus, I can't kill any guards, but the one guard is just hanging out infront of his cell staring at the Elf and I can't do anything unless I just want to give up on the bonus, which I don't want to do since I am 3/3 so far with bonuses. Is he supposed to move away, or am I supposed to distract him somehow? I even managed to pickpocket him without him knowing lol <3 Sneak He just won't move his ass away.

yeah, sounds like a glitch, he talks to the dark elf about crap, then is supposed to leave, then you pick the your cell, and the dark elf talks to you, then you kill him in any way you see fit.

It's one of the hardest missions to actually lose the bonus on, the guard makes a patrol, down to the cells but it's pretty long between them, and he leaves immediately after talking to the dark elf. Try hitting him, then yielding. See if that fixs his AI.

Heh, I just left my Restoration magic on, ran out of the cell, grabbed the cell key to the other one, opened it right infront of the guard and let him hit me while I killed the Elf and just ran out and into the river. Worked like a charm lol

Heh, the House Party quest for the Dark Brotherhood is probably the pinnacle of fun, even if it is abusably easy.

Don't think I have done that one yet.

Yeah, it's part of Ocheeva's set, after Vincentes. Ocheeva's are by far the best of the crop.
