Ocarina of Time remake

OoT was a prequel to A link of the Past.

The remake sounds cool. Planning on buying the new Ds with the 3D technology unless it's too expensive. A Link to the Past will always be my favorite Zelda game with OoT following behind it. I need to play Twilight Princess sometime when I get a chance.

But that's not what you said, you said there was virtually nothing different about them, when in actuality they have quite a few differences. From plots to power ups to puzzles.

Not what I meant then >< my fault. I might have said something thinking that my meaning was this when it meant something else to others. Sorry.

Still, games are very similar, but I do have a great deal of fun between each. I can't deny that. Even though sometimes the similarity borders on how similar FPS are to each other, there's just so much fun I have from Zelda games in presentation and the details the change :P

I personally can't wait for the new Zelda. I hope the old controller option is still available, but I'll enjoy playing 1 to 1 too. I just don't necessarily want to ALWAYS play 1 to 1.

And when 3DS comes out I'm totally getting one and I'll get Ocarina of Time on it if it comes out. And if Link To The Past comes out for handheld too, man that'll be bought so fast.

Or the Golden Sword, or the Great Fairy's Sword, or the Magical Sword, or the Seashell Sword, or the Four Sword.

all the same thing.

I want to hear your explanation for this one, because I feel all continuity and connectedness flew out the window once OoT came out.

Miyamoto said so. There has actually been a few "timelines" published and they all conflict, But Miyamoto has said that OoT was first, and LttP was last, I forget where all the others fall.

I remember reading up way back in the day and I was pretty sure Link to the Past was supposed to take place some time before the original two Zelda games on the NES. I've always been under the impression that there was a coherent timeline for the first 3(Zelda, Zelda II, LttP), but it doesn't suprise me in the least to hear that all the timelines conflict.

What's more fascinating to me, while being irksome at the same time, is this reincarnation mumbo jumbo they have going on. My friend and I were discussing this a few days ago, and we're not so sure it's reincarnation so much as it is time flowing in a convergent circle. If LttP is truly the last in the series, then how do we account for the legends told in it? The ones that speak of the thief who entered the Golden Land and stole the triforce, only to be sealed away? If OoT is the first then we begin to see cracks in the consistency. Gannon was sealed, but not in the Golden Land into which he snuck, and he certainly didn't make off with the triforce at the end of OoT.

and that's why I take each and every game as an individual game with no connection what so ever to the others (as far as the world goes).

WM+ is required, I don't think they'll let you use anything else other than the Wiimote + Nunchuck.

Anyways, timeline wise, Minish Cap is first, as Miyamoto has said that it was an origin story, but beyond that it gets really convoluted, with the whole split timeline thing from OoT, where Link goes back in time to being a child after defeating Gannon, thus the whole split.

Thus MM follows OoT in the child timeline, TP follows the child timeline after OoT - MM, Wind Waker follows the adult timeline.

On Twilight Princess

The current trends in timeline theory began on March 6th, 2007 when a, then, two month old interview with Eiji Aonuma on the Japanese Nintendo-owned website nindori.com was translated into English. The Hylia has provided the most recognized translation[1] thus far:

–When does Twilight Princess take place?

Aonuma: In the world of Ocarina of Time, a hundred and something years later.

–And the Wind Waker?

Aonuma: The Wind Waker is parallel. In Ocarina of Time, Link flew seven years in time, he beat Ganon and went back to being a kid, remember? Twilight Princess takes place in the world of Ocarina of Time, a hundred and something years after the peace returned to kid Link’s time. In the last scene of Ocarina of Time, kids Link and Zelda have a little talk, and as a consequence of that talk, their relationship with Ganon takes a whole new direction. In the middle of this game [Twilight Princess], there's a scene showing Ganon's execution. It was decided that Ganon be executed because he'd do something outrageous if they left him be. That scene takes place several years after Ocarina of Time. Ganon was sent to another world and now he wants to obtain the power...

It is expected that many interpretations of this quote's various statements will soon follow.

Aonuma had discussed this idea before, to varying interpretation. Many considered the following two infamous quotes to support the double timeline ideal, and they have only become more zealous with recent developments.

The first came in a summer 2002 Game Pro interview:

Q: Where does The Wind Waker fit into the overall Zelda series timeline?

Aonuma: You can think of this game as taking place over a hundred years after Ocarina of Time. You can tell this from the opening story, and there are references to things from Ocarina located throughout the game as well.

Miyamoto: Well, wait, which point does the hundred years start from?

Aonuma: From the end.

Miyamoto: No, I mean, as a child or as a...

Aonuma: Oh, right, let me elaborate on that. Ocarina of Time basically has two endings of sorts; one has Link as a child and the other has him as an adult. This game, The Wind Waker, takes place a hundred years after the adult Link defeats Ganon at the end of Ocarina.

Miyamoto: This is pretty confusing for us, too. (laughs) So be careful.

Followed by a similar (though better worded) comment on the Official Zelda Homepage:

In terms of the storyline, we've decided that this takes place 100 years after the events in The Ocarina of Time. We think that as you play through the game, you'll notice that in the beginning the storyline explains some of the events in The Ocarina of Time. You'll also find hints of things from The Ocarina of Time that exist in The Wind Waker.

There's also a more complicated explanation. If you think back to the end of The Ocarina of Time, there were two endings to that game in different time periods. First Link defeated Ganon as an adult, and then he actually went back to being a child. You could say that The Wind Waker takes place 100 years after the ending in which Link was an adult.

So yeah, they're all over the fucking place.

does it matter? they're all fucking epic, and the Philips CDi ones are utter shit.

but none more epic then LttP >.>

now we will kungfu fight.

in all seriousness, LttP was serious busy. But close behind were Link's Awakening (DX) and OoT, at least in my book.

Majora's Mask ranks low almost like the CDi Games.

ALttP is my favorite, but I love Majora's Mask, I'd rank it above OoT, I loved the mask system, the 3 day system, the world, just something about it was awesome, but OoT would be third.

I enjoyed the mask system, I wasn't a fan of the 3 day thing though. that got old fast for me.

Also 2 was the worst of the worst >.>

Adventures of Link?
I enjoyed it, though it is fairly difficult.
I appreciate what they were trying with the side-scrolling, but definitely my least favorite.

MM scared me. That moon gives me the fucking creeps

That moon is freaky, on the third day it's right there, ready to swallow your soul.

I loved that aspect, a race against the clock.
You can't do everything at once, so you have to go back multiple times.
Groundhog Day: The Videogame.

I've always played games slowly, I don't like clocks telling me how much time I has to explore.
