Odin & Alexander

The only reason Odin is considered stronger than Bahamut is because he can't be stunned, therefore, not zerg friendly. Remove that one lil thing from King B and its a whole nother ball game.

when I read about alex's ability it seems like an AoE invincible. Depending on how long this lasts it could change the face of BCMN fights forever! I know 2hr ability but in that context you could get through those boss battles unscathed...

It sounds closer to Sentinel and Fealty; not completely invincible but shrugging off lots of damage and resisting enfeebles. SE knows better than to give Summoners an AoE -100% Damage Taken effect that could potentially last 3 minutes.

I hope so, anyway.

tbh, i'd rather they tweak our job first before giving us more animals to play with

been saying this for 2 years at least, it's nice but I'm more concerned about avatars getting job traits or having favor affecting their traits....or maybe having spirits work in unison with avatars out as in both being out at the same time; or how about at the least making spirits lesser in mp cost than avatars since they do look cool and sometimes cast cool spells but its a parlor trick.

am i the only bitter one? Elemental Siphon was a godsend I'll give se that

edit: also i'm more concerned about how to get these avatars and hoping I dont have to go through an arm or leg for them...like join another endgame ls hopefully its just a quest needed a certain TAU or WOTG mission done req. which hopefully it is

If the precedent set by the other avatars continues, they'll most likely require a key item of some kind and progress through ToAU to a certain degree. Diabolos and Fenrir come from alternative quests to the Proto-Crystals, and there's nothing wrong with the system for obtaining avatars now.

I suspect a new NPC that gives you a questline to fight {Avatar} Prime.

well now we have subs...or will when it gets lvl 99...convert anyone?

Ok. To go over it; one of the smns in OmegaJenova, Gencay, got these two recently.

1. Seems odin will KO instantly a VT mob, like a shark on your butt. In limbus, he was only doing 1k damage on mobs (Gen called out the damage)..that didn't work so hot.(Zal did get to see it on a shark after limbo.)

2 they use all your mp, like it was a normal astral flow. (I had to ask, Gen was in the other party in my ally)

3. Alex does a move when he's summoned that seems to be a combo of a AoE PD and Invincible (Along with some serious magic defense). That could be a great OSHI thing in endgame I think! Not sure how long it lasts but seemed to last enough to get though bosses.

4. Odin won't do two sharks at once. Lol.

Anyway I hope that helps. You have to have beaten ToAU to get them, I have. I'm gonna hunt up the quests tomorrow.

Also for all of you. remember, these do burn your two hour, so let me post up what I use to macro my two hours. I don't know what other gear you'd want for these at this time, but def the staves!

/target <me>
/echo Press X if you're sure, O if you're not
/ja "Astral Flow"<stpc>
/echo Release the seal on <pet>! ***Astral Flow***

(I actually have it target the mob my avatar's on for that one but that's the basic one. Only on whm do I actually have a p line since that's usually suicide.)

(Also for these, replace the /ja line with the spell, and macro in the ele staff that matches theirs if you are using that. I don't know if that will help but it just feels better.)

Also btw, odin can miss, it just did on a wyerven (and i screwed the pass and can't get back in right now)

Zantetsuken on NMs seems to be based on the mob's HP, instead of the Summoner's MP.

I'm not sure if it's total HP or remaining HP but if it's an NM that already has a naturally low HP pool the numbers will be disappointing.
I've been playing around with it in besieged for a bit and saw completely random numbers going from 43 on a whm to 1999 on a NM.
And one of mine outside besieged:

(Although I should have waited for when we popped Yilbegan.)

The theory of it doing damage proportional to the mob's HP comes from here though:

And another one by Spira on KI:

I also found that the damage of Zantetsuken is divided when used on a number of NMs, but I have yet to confirm.

Accuracy when used on more then one mob seems to be terrible, it's that I've personally occasionally seen it hit multiple targets, or one could have thought this pact is single target.
What the exact modifications for that are is something still to figure out.

[Edit]
Damage does indeed also seem to be influenced by the summoner's mp pool.
Just need to find out how much, according to numbers I've seen it is quite considerable.

That would explain the limbus mob damage. I had damage filtered (I was on whm) so I had to take his word for it.

I don't, you why not?
It requires a 2 hour to actually do this damage, when we compare it to what a Dark knight, Monk, Samurai or Warrior can do with their 2 hours and clever usage of job abilities for zergs we finally have something to put us 'up there'.
Yet we're still outclassed by above with ease.
Besides if you compare the damage done to the proportions of the HP these monsters actually have we're only taking between 5 and 7.5% of their total hit points.

to quote a favorite GM quote from my Astralburning days:
"Astral flow is working as intended."

Well...I suppose that's true. At least it makes sense when you put it that way.

Also I /waved to you yesterday in Whitegate. :( /sadpanda

If that was anywhere past 6 PM EST chance is I'm asleep. ;)

Anywhere before 1 PM I'm at work, or I could have been doing something and simply missed it.

Yesterday Morning's Besieged was Summoner Crazy. I did get to see Odin use his move a few times.
The first time it was on a lower level Troll that has about 5-10% of it's life left, and Odin only hit it for 50ish damage. Unsure what the Summoner's MP was at.
A few more times I saw the same SMN (Elvaan, Japanese, Didn't get the name unfortunitly.) fighting the Mega Boss for the Trolls (Gulfur? I can't think of how to spell it. x.x;)
The SMN called out Odin, and he damaged the Mega Boss for around 1050 (His life was around 90%). The SMN then popped a Revitalizer and a Mega Elixer and did it again, Damaging the Mega Boss for 1960. (Mega Boss' HP was still around 90%.)

I wish I could of seen that SMN's MP pool. XD The idea of doing almost 2k of damage to a mob like that was epic.
I guess the best theory is that the targeted mobs HP and the SMN's MP have something to do with it. Any one else have any info?
Also, does maybe day and weather have an effect? If weather has any sort of effect, I'd like to imagine that Odin would be welcomed in Dynamis.

Alexander would be good to know more info about too. XD

You probably were. Everyone's doing something in WG lol

On-topic: I believe it's been said the dmg odin will do to nm's is based on a % of the mobs hp, as well as the smn's mp pool and how many mobs are being hit by Zantetsuken. I feel like it's more like a more powerful version of Diabolos' Ruinous Omen, but then again, I don't have odin so I can't really say XD
