Not again. My four year old niece came in and started tugging at my headphones. Luckily they were cheap but they broke ><

Does anyone have any ideas for budget over the ear headphones that won't break when you got someone yanking on them like that?! I need cheap and sturdy. ^^

Sadly, cheap and sturdy don't really go together. You might want to look at some wireless headphones.

I'm willing to get cheap ones and save up for some better ones; What is a good pair, then? Mind, she was tugging on the right ear (not the cord) since she wanted to hear too; that's when they broke. Really tired of mah crap breakings...

Edit:: haha whoops totally missed bajaretts post, but yeah, cordless or saving up for a more sturdy pair is prob your best bet

Razer makes a headset called the blackshark that's a full metal, military style headset, never owned a pair myself but they LOOK pretty indestructible

Saw these bad boys at bestbuy when I was there after Christmas, almost got em with a giftcard I had but decided to get GW2 and Game of thrones S1 instead XD

Or if all else fails i hear beatings work pretty well as a preventative measure in those situations. tho if you wanna be the "cool aunt" that may not be an option I guess XD lol j/k

I'll look into that, but not razer. I've heard of Razer stuff breaking left and right, bet my niece would break them the same way she broke the Panasonic ones I had (come in, want a listen (It was Earthbound Zero; I tend to wear headphones all the time b/c I know my mom has not liked videogame music in the past, tho why my niece'd want to watch that when she can't read I will never know. Also my sister doesn't like anime), pull on the right ear, right ear no longer works after I stopped her and chased her out)

I'm using my spares for the moment for my Ipod Touch but hopefully I can go get some wal-mart ones for temps until I can save the money; earbuds (which those are) tend to irritate my ears.

And spankings might work, but if she busts a more expensive pair I'm hauling her into the living room for my sister to punish her (she'd proly get time out). Prolly by the collar if I'm really irritated, and I proly would be!

I use Denon, Sennheiser, JBL and Grado headphones. All of which are great quality, but none of which are cheap. My Grado SR-60i are pretty securely attached, as they're clipped to a metal rod, but the strap is just a piece of leather. They're not my priciest pair, but they are $80, so that's not what most people are looking at for a cheap set of headphones. They also have an usually long cord, 7 feet, which is annoying for what I use them for, but

BTW, something occurred to me about this. I'm considering ordering a 3 buck splitter from Walmart or from Radioshack, then once I get the better pair, if she tries that again, I'll let her listen on the cheap pair. And if she tries to mess with the volume control, /SWAT! I value my ears and hers too, so I don't have the volume turned up very loud.

Also for now, been staring at these since I've needed a new headset anyway (as folks can tell you from my Legion shell, I've been using a stick mic); someone on another board suggested those. What do people think?

Also on Aedrin's suggestion I'm planning on getting a Command Adhesive hook to hang them on and not drop them in my cord corral basket. I hope that'll help them last longer..

I agree with Bajaratt about wireless headphones/headset. After years of my cords getting tangled or frayed I got some of my own, they are nice. I forget which model mine are, but mine are Logitech. Not at home to check.
