what everyone seems to forget ironically is what they stressed the most.
the beta was a BETA, it was only a taste. Half the stuff thats in the final version was not in the beta, most weapons and vehicles were not there. The maps were not even done yet, the save film feature was pretty slimmed down, and no custom games to check out the features (unless you did the hack to get into that menu).
The beta was so limited in what youll actually get in the retail copy, even the graphics were dumbed down.
twas just a taste for us, and meant to test the servers and balancing for them. wasnt meant to impress! Hell they still havent finished announcing all the features and items in the game.
I personally thought the beta was fun, but without all the other stuff to fill it in more, it got repeatetive....but thats also because there were only three maps to play repeatedly.
With all the extensive stuff they put into this game, its going to own and own hard. I mean the saved film/screen shot feature will be totally integrated into bungie.net! Take a screenshot, and it will automatically appear on your bungie.net profile in HIGH DEF. Save a film, put it in file share...download it from bungie.net. Extremely opening the door for user created media.
Forge was not expected, but a big deal. The save film feature is a dream to me, i was always creating montages and the like but hated the methods i had to go about to do it. Never again will i have to worry about stopping or pausing the PC between matches. save now, copy later.
all the weapons, all the vehicles, all the maps, all the game types, The ENDLESS customization features. Theres just way more in this game than i had ever imagined...and at times it feels overwhelming.
but im sure it will deliever. Dissappointment is not an option!
I was also not impressed by the beta, but i took their words to heart when they said "remember, its A BETA!"
