Official Halo 3 Thread - Halo > You

So that would count as probably a suicide i think?

Well i know that, but i also know there is a line on the ammount of damage that the other person has to deal.

Example: Today, my friend got hit with bullets from an BR before he No scoped him, i thought it would just give the other guy the kill, and i wanted the sniper, so i threw a grenade and blew him up. No chance for the shields to recharge. It gave me the betrayal so i had a nice 15 second respawn the next time i died.

Only saying this, because spike grenades, unless you are actually stuck with them, or in a painfully small space with you directly on top of it, do really really shitty damage.

On that same tangent, I had no shields when playing Social Doubles with Team Swords, and my friend threw a grenade and killed me, and it gave the point to the other person.

I'm just trying to figure out how much damage you have to take for it to be a betrayal/suicide or give the kill to the person you are fighting. Or in that instance, did the spike grenade do enough damage to make the frag give him him the kill or give the other guy a suicide.

In the first scenario, the guy on the other team was dead before you killed your teammate. In your second, I'm assuming the other teams dude was still alive, or atleast someone else on their team that hit you before your shields recharged, because you didn't mention it.

yep theres a time span that initiates once you or someone else gets hit by enemy fire, that can make a betrayal or a suicide their kill, but if that person dies before that time is up, and you throw a grenade at your teamate, its an automatic betrayal, but the game reads betrayals different and in ways can detect if the grenade was intentional or not just by its direct path, if it was intentional which you say it was, thats probly why.
Just like in VIP matches where the other team can be shooting you when your team has no VIP on the in between of yours getting killed,
if you kill yourself, you do not become the vip, even if the other team is shooting you. because the game recognizes it as being intentional so you could become the vip, just doesnt work that way.

It takes very minimal damage, even just one shot, for the game to register the kill with your name so in a situation like the magic grenade, it would become the magic grenade throwers kill.

I totally forgot that Bungie runs on PDT time, so it won't come until 2am CST or 3AM EST. I wonder if you can go with a group of more than one person too? Only way i'm probably getting Overkill and Steppin' Razor.

EDIT: You can, i just read through the whole thing. You can enter with a max of 4 in a party with a game of 8 people. That means it could very easily be done to get steppin' razor, and possibly overkill.
