I will tell you tomorow, when the nintendo press release is.

Sweet deal, I thought I read this topic a day late XD

Back on topic since I kinda swayed off without thinking about it, Sony always seems to charge a little too much at the console release, anyone else feel that way? It's gonna be $150-200 at some point, why not wait until then? As I recall, didn't some of the release PS2 units come out with some minor defect in them? I could be mistaken and thinking of something else again ^^;

Edit: I almost forgot, I must know if Capcom says anything about Viewtiful Joe 3, anything at all, the "omg they reserved viewtifuljoe3.com" crap doesn't mean squat to me :P

$600, and a gimped PS3 if you want to spend only $500...

I may actually get Nintendo's offering this year instead.

faaack that's shitty... i'll have to take out a loan and buy two or three and sell em on ebay! And make a 3x profit!

So who read the article about the controller? In case you didn't, here it is:

I'd bet anything that the Sony fanboys would praise sony at their "innovative technolody."

$100 extra for 40 gigs more? That's rediculous. That would be less than $40 difference in a pc. No way Wii will be under $200 unless its got way outdated hardware or nintendo plans on taking a huge loss on console sales. Maybe after they the price a couple times, but not initial sales.

PS3 looks cheap still to me. Consider it has computering power atm of a $1,500+ gaming pc, that's a very nice deal.

I am PISSED off at the new controller. It looks exactly like the past two generations' controllers, but they're stealing from Nintendo extra early this time. Arrg. GO TO HELL SONY. Not to mention they're pretty much stealing Xbox Live too. Not a big Xbox fan, but that pisses me off to. Not to mention price. Jeeze.

And for those of you wondering, Nintendo's press conference is tomorrow at 9:30am PST, and will be streamed live at http://www.gametrailers.com. I'm waking up early to watch it because I'm a fanboy. 8)

Q: How much will Revolution cost?

A:: An exact price is unknown. But Nintendo is aggressively seeking to deliver a small, quiet and affordable console. It seems likely that the unit will debut at the sub-$200 mark and possibly cheaper if all goes as planned.

Q: What's all the fuss about?

A:: Nintendo have decided to take a different direction to the general gaming industry by not trying to create the best graphics possible; instead attmpting to change how gamers interact with the console and games.

It is a big risk, as the Wii's graphics will not be up to the Xbox 360 or PS3's standard. However the controller; which is shaped like a TV remote and fitted with motion sensors; will mean that gamers movements can be translated into games. This will give gamers a whole new gaming experience, and should allow developers to be more creative and innovative.

2 different sources. I can't find the source where they were mentioning some details about why it's going to be so cheap. I remember them mentioning that that they aren't trying to rush out the best hardware like the other systems. They want to make sure their product is cheap and affordable and stable and still at a point where they can easily make plenty of profit. I'll do a little more digging and try to find it.

$200 can not buy you anything but 4-5 year old hardware. Either the graphics are going to be really weak and designed to not be graphically intensive, or they are going to charge more than $200. Even the gamecube's hardware still costs close to $200 for the whole system.

I'm glad Sony stuck with the old design. At least it won't cause hand cramps after hours of play. Now if they would just make a bigger version for people with large hands. How do we know Sony stole the idea though? Maybe Nintendo just went public with it first. Chances are ideas were leaking back and forth between both companies and they developed it at the same time. Going to be funny if Nintendo's big selling point isn't even exclusive...

If it's more than $200 then I'll give you a cookie. =)

So the new controller is going to look like the old one respectively... That's cool i like the ps2 controller. No rumble though eh, whatever. Motion detection ftw!

I think that the Wii is going to use this technology way more than the PS3. The Wii is meant for this. Sony is just kind of being "HAY DOODS WE DO IT TOO LOL!", and I bet only like... four games will use it.

Xbox360, PS3, and Wii all seem that they will work and control differently. Is this gonna mean the end of cross-platform games?

I'm so getting Wii and PS3... motion detection ftw!

I hear a rumor that only the $599 version will have a HDMI port.

Edit: This is the price I thought it was going to be. My money is already saved. :D

You make a fair point rones, but its not like sony don't have a history of stealing stuff from other developers. If they didn't i would probably agree with you but since they do...

I will also be getting the WII, because assuming sony actually use it for more than 4 games i would bet on it only being put to good use in very few and probably very buggy. Nintendo "created" the idea so in theory they have a much better idea of what uses to put it to.

Besides i am a bit of nintendo fangirl,.

Personally I'm excited for the new nintendo and nothing more, PS3 and XBOX 360 GTFO! Revolution will blow people away with its new gameplay, I mean what is cooler than actually playing the game instead of pushing some buttons, go to google video and search the exact phrase nintendo revolution controller video, click on the video (it should be one with the controller coming out of the silver goo) with watch it and be amazed :D

That should help whomever needs to be educated.

Simple fact is, the technology in the PS3 is more advanced than anything that's ever come out for Gaming Consoles. It, in turn, costs more. Remember when PS2 first came out, it was $300. Same with XBox. The bare-bone 360 system is $400. That much more advancement, and $100 release date difference. Naturally, I spent about $1000 on 360 all together because I wanted the top of the line system and games with it and 4 controllers. PS3 will be $600 for the system with Wi-Fi and the larger HD. Honestly, I'll pay it. The prices are high because people will pay it. If you're 18, get a credit card and pay it off in payments. Bank of America is doing 0% for 6 months right now >.>;; But let's be honest, people will pay the money.

Sony officials said they would have 4 million PS3 units ready by the end of 2006 and another 6 million by March 31, 2007.

That's 10 million in 5 months. That is in fact better than XBox 360 offered, and as I said we should try to be honest with ourselves. You're going to want it, you have time to save for it, and if you're playing FFXI a lot then you have time to get a part-time job. In the end, Sony is marketing the way they should. Push back release dates to create hype, increase the price and talk about the upgrades. Belittle opposing systems by not just saying, but showing how yours is better. And more importantly, staking a companies reputation on a single product of this magnitude. It'll be good, people will pay it, and for those who act quickly and wisely will find themselves with the system.
