Official Ps3 Pricing Info!

Honestly, the last thing I want in a console is a motion-sensitive controller. Motion sensitivity for minigames? Sure. Motion sensitive combat? I like my gaming trance, in which the thumbs and shoulder-button fingers are the only moving part of my entire body, thank you. Having to move my entire wrists would be... effort? Eeeew... XD

But seriously, motion sensitive controls [No thanks.] I don't wanna have to worry about dropping the controller making my character suddenly do a barrel roll a cliff or something.

I'm going to really enjoy it for shooters. I can't imagine how much fun that's going to be.

That's a really good point, but I would think the games would have a feature to turn the motion sensor off. For some games, motion detection would be good, but for several genres I can't see much of a benefit to it.

The one major advantage I see for the Wii controller is in simulation games. Flight sim? It's a... uh... that stick they use to pilot with. Driving sim? It's a shift stick. Train sim? It's the brake lever. Sex sim? It's the... Wait.. >.>

DVD R and CD RW? As in.. it reads those kinda discs and not does that stuff I'll take it.. but man.. if it did that I'd be amazed :P still.. nice that PS2 and PS1 games will work on it ^^ something Microsoft and Nintendo have failed to do (until Nintendo's nice awesome addition of their downloading a game onto Wii from old systems) with their consoles. (I'm saying they don't really have pure backwards compatability.. and technically still don't)

The detection of +R and other burned CD/DVD's is an interesting addition to the console. Although I can't see much reason for it besides burning your own music CD's to play with the PS3; unless they're going to allow for playing video files off of burned media which I haven't heard of yet.

Nintendo announced that Game Cube games would work on the Wii, but that for the other systems you'd have to download the games. Although to be fair Playstation and the Xbox only came in when there was an adaptable media for games. With the cartridges, it was a different cartridge each time to account for the size of the games so backwards compatability wasn't an option as Nintendo created new consoles. The 360 can't play all of the Xbox games, so Microsoft still hasn't learned about backwards compatability.

well they could have created multiple slots for cartridge games on a console I guess :P even though that'd prolly be rediculous. Anyways, I'm still happy Wii has the Nintendo game downloading thing. That is one thing that I like Nintendo has for Wii. The system will be starting with a few good games already + all the good games Nintendo has from its past + Sega games = win. It's one reason I've like Sony for now cause I could use all my old games fine as well as new ones.

The SFC's CPU is actually a more advanced version of the FC's (658c16 can execute 6502 code natively), actually.

However, despite that, even if the SFC had included an adapter to accept FC cartridges without an additional slot, the SFC would've been roughly $75 more expensive per unit if FC compatibility had been included.

$75 is more than another SFC game, and would've made the Sega MD much more attractive to the consumer.

What did you just say?

Sorry, been in the emulation community too long.

SFC = Super famicom = SNES
FC = Famicom = NES
MD = Megadrive = Genesis

Basically, it would've cost Nintendo $75 more per unit to make SNES compatible with NES games, even though some of the SNES hardware was already NES compatible.

still.. another game (actually 2 back then) would have been worth it to be able to use ALL the old games you already had, imo

But what about the people that didn't own a FC?

The other thing I just don't get about people who complain about lack of reverse compatibility...

You people do realise your old hardware still works even though a new system is out, right?

LIES! The old systems implode as soon as there's a new release!

Means i get to have the options of
A) Sell my old one.
B) Let a friend who doesnt own either one borrow it
C) Get not have to get a new one should my old break down (applied to me)

My PSX broke about a month after i got my PS2. It was a little thing, one of the bead things that hold the disc down firmly poped out and went missing, so the disc would slip and not get up to speed to be read. Had my PS2 not been able to play my PS1 games, i'd have needed to fix it. As it is, i didnt. It just sits on my shelf reminding me of my gaming roots.

You own a N64, and a GCN. your N64 breaks (say your dog decided it looked like a tasty snack.) Now, you really like playing the clasics like Mario64, Pilot Wings, and Smash Bros #1(you thought #2 sucked)
Now you need to go out and hope to find a pre-owned console thats not a few steps from being broken all over again, since its close to impossible to get a new one. Same applys if you want to play your old NES/SNES games. You're SOL, even if you own the newest console.

GCN may as well have been made by a seperate developer from the n64, since nothing was compatable between the two. The PS2 could use everything the PSX could, and then had its own products. I only had one DualShock2 controller for the longest time. My 2P controller was just the DualShock1 from my PSX.

Mine lost a "bead thing" too, but still works fine... PS1 is a bad example though; I'd wager that the PS1 is possibly the most error-prone console of all time.

I like it because I don't always buy all the consoles. For example, I never had a ps1. I instead started with ps2 which gave me access to all the classic ps1 games I had missed such as xenogears and final fantasy series. I haven't owned a nintendo system since snes. If the revol...err Wii comes out and gives me access of too all its old games, I get a quite a bit of use out of that.

I like Nintendo and all, but i think this time they are so screwed.

The Way of the Wii is simply not enough to end the people's desire for a machine that can prouduce mind blowing visuals.

Sony's PS3 Controller has no External Sensor as mentioned in this demonstration.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4468713782702747459&q=ps3

Sony did what they had to do to deliver the goods. And this controller is "good". Don't get upset about Sony ass raping Nintendo, the Wii will still come.

The Wii letting you download and play old games is nice.
The Wii controller is nice, but not ... Ok it's amazing. It's really gonna feel nice.

All and all i have a firm belief that the Wii is definatly inferior to the PlayStation 3. Nintendo made yet another hardware innovation. What else would you expect from the company that brang the power glove.

At this point, Nintendo can only rely on their tallent for designing games. They are not trying to steer gamers, they are trying to get more people to play. And when those people have their new found passion for playing video games, they'll drool at the PS3.

The Consol wars is magnificient. Why care who made the prouduct. Without competetion, video games would be pretty far behind.

The PS3 will be released in a world-wide on Nov. 17th, 2006. The 20 gig. hard drive PS3 will be 499.99$, the 80(?) gig. hard drive will be priced at a later time.

OH! And, the PS3 will only launch with 2 million units world wide. Thats right, LESS then the 360's launch...
like to say its the 60gig hardrive for the more money
and yay halo 3 is coming out you know xbox will set halo 3 out when ps3 comes out lol

O just like to say something www.meboo.com or something you can DL a tv controler for your mobile and guesss what new version had the old ps3 controler thats why they changed it :P

Well I for one don't want to have my Atari, Nes, Snes, N64, Gamecube, Wii (future), PS1, PS2, PS3 (future), X-Box, X-Box 360, etc all sitting out on my entertainment table. I also want to keep my need of pulling my television out to connect different consoles up to a minimum. So if the Wii will play all the games from Nintendos past for a minimal fee then great! I can keep my other 4 Nintendo gaming systems packed up and in retirement. Maybe even sell the highly sought originals on E-Bay or something. The same can be said for the Playstation. Now if I want to play some of my X-Box games I need to pull my television out and unplug my 360 or PS2. It's just more of a hassle for me.

Hassle = bad.
