Early 2010. The plan is to release the re-release of the game to us (which has all the patches) rather than an unpatched game.

Thank god. I'm looking forward to it, but I may wait until it drops in price to purchase it. I mean, Monster Hunter 3, FFXIII, and possibly XIV beta are already gonna eat up my video game time.

More info on WKC's release:

bashcraft: And we're underway in the White Knight Chronicles session -- which covers the game's online system. Matamura, the producer at Sony Computer Entertainment, is here as well as the game's director, Kusuda, from Level 5.

They are here to talk about the game's online mode.

The online mode is unlocked after players unlocked after finish the first chapter.

GeoNet is the dedicated social network for White Knight Chronicles players. Players can write blogs, see other players blogs, exchange emails, etc. GeoNet can be started any time from the menu. It's possible to select windows.

In GeoNet, there is a feature called Georama that allows players to create their own town, and there are three types of areas in the Georama: Plains, Desert, Wilderness.

Players can make their Georama nature oriented or a bustling city. It's possibly to do unique things like have custom colored bricks or w/e.

After you create the town, you can recreate non playable characters to live in your town.

We're being shown the editor, which has a clean and straightforward interface. You can place things like architecture and even things like building foundations and whatnot.

bashcraft: 12 players can enter the lobby, and there is a max of four players per quest.

bashcraft: for the international version of white knights chronicles there will be voice chat(Japan will not have this at the Internatial release however.. it will be released as a patch later on after the NA release.)

So, Dark Cloud style personal town creation =D...

Hmmmm...

I wonder if it'd be easier if the threads for WKC were merged and used as an all purpose WKC thread.

Wait, so was it about WKC or the sequel?

Info about both are happening at the same time, I'm considering asking for a merger of this thread and the official WKC thread seeing as a lot of info about both is coming out at the same time now >_>

I've been waiting for this game for a looooong time, like all of you. The last game I played from this developing house was DQ8 and I loved it.

God I want White Knight's Chronicle in English already :(

that trailer is for the second then? So it's a direct sequel eh? Hmmz

For an official Playstation blog they are rather late and scarce with all of that info.

I assume they only got a small amount of info as they'd rather let people experience it for themselves when the game comes out, so I think they just want to give a taster of what's to come as to gain a bit more interest.

Though, that's just my personal thoughts.

What I was getting at is non official media outlets had this news a while back. Kotaku had the voice chat announcement up on the 23rd of September. I remember hearing about the town creation before that but I can't re-call if it was from the media or just random YouTube-ing the game. There is a YouTube video up of someone making a town and presenting it.

I seriously don't wanna hear about this game anymore until it's coming out in like a week. This game was supposed to be a launch title. If it was just announced today I'd be really hyped but... come on. It's not gonna be worth the wait, so why keep the interest up?

It'll be worth the wait for me, I have loved every single Level 5 title. Yeah it should have come out a long ass time ago, but that won't hamper my enjoyment of it.
Though I'd rather they do either Dark Cloud 3 or Rogue Galaxy 2 as opposed to a WKC sequel, but maybe after WKC2.

Least I'll get a pseudo Dark Cloud taste with building your own town via georama, and a Dark Cloud/Rogue Galaxy feel with the weapon synthesis system.

Is there any announced preorder bonus for it yet?
My interest has been interested me enough to warrant a purchase.

I'm the same as you. I'm lookin' forward to this title despite the tight lips. Unfortunately though, you can't even pre-order it in my town much less get any ideas on the incentives of pre-ordering.

Interview with Level 5's Yoshiaki Kusada:

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/02/interview-level-5s-yoshiaki-kusada/

Joystiq: White Knight Chronicles has been out in Japan for a very long time. Why has it taken so long to find release in America?

Kusada: When Level-5 launched the Dark Cloud series in the past in Japan, we tried to incorporate feedback from users to make updates before releasing it overseas. In terms of White Knight Chronicles, since it's an online game, we have received a lot of feedback from users. So, we wanted to improve the title more based on the feedback from the users before releasing it overseas. In fact, in the Japanese market, these improvements have been made available through patching. We are awfully sorry we have been keeping the US users for so long, but we wanted to make sure that all the updates and improvements of everything up to the so-called "Second Wave," which includes Georama, before delivering it to the US users. After the "Second Wave," we started the localization of the game for the international market. We are so sorry that it has taken so much time. For the time, we believe we are able to deliver a much better game for the US market. So, I would like to ask for a bit more patience.

It's nice to see that they're doing everything they can to improve the game =)
