PS3 Official White Knight Chronicles Thread - WKC2 Set for July 8th. New Trailer.

I see .Well since Dark Souls is coming out, Arkham City, and then Skyrim after, I'll prolly be waiting until well after playing those games (Skyrim alone will take a long time I'm sure) before I get WKC 1+2. By then it'll prolly be 10-20 bucks :P

Why anyone with Dark Souls, would buy Skyrim is totally beyond me.

They are a bit different :P quite a bit. Skyrim will have a lot more mod support too (as in actually some). But ya, Dark Souls is VERY dark fantasy. The Elder Scrolls is not really that dark tbh.

Oh, so you can mod that ease of use "we want YOU CoD fans!" stuff right out the game and then try to make it good for them? I'll pass, they lost me at "perks."

I'm confused. Skyrim? CoD?

Still not getting it x.x Skyrim is targeting CoD fans? did I miss something? (quite possible tbh)

Ah ya I tend to ignore interviews for the most part :P not sure why. Some I read, but most I don't. What were they saying about it?

Eh, I'll just do key words. Accessibility, Streamline, CoD players, "our perks", that should be enough really.

I need to pick up WKC1+2, Dark Souls soon, and of course there's Arkham City and Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One this month, then Uncharted 3 and Zelda: Skyward Sword next month, gah.
Plus I'm currently playing ICO+Shadow of the Colossus Collection.

Eh, not really, despite him being overall positive. He likes the story way too much, to me it was constantly a "let's get through this so I can go online." He's not a turn-based combat fan, I love it. that said, he missed a huge change in the game. If he really is the fan he said he is and really did put down the time he said he did he would have realized something very important. The combat ring at its worst in WKC2 is far off from the worst in WKC. The ring speed is dependent on gear, think it's not fast enough? Then wear lighter gear. I pretty much run around either naked, or in very weak, defensively, Georama gear for the massive STR boost. That said, in the harder GR quests I do wear full heavy armor, use a two-handed axe, thus have the highest possible ring timer, but it's worth it. It works as a throttle in this case so I'm not wasting mana, but more importantly you're never just standing there waiting on it to fill, there is always something to do, even when it's at max time. On his issue with basic attacks and running out of mana... he didn't really skim over the skill trees or build his characters very well. In the Bow tree there is an ability that grants a %, based on level and max mp, of mana back in exchange for 1 AC. It takes roughly 1-3 attacks for a bow user to get 1 AC with the Focus ability, so about 2-3 seconds. As you can imagine, the AC builds really fast this time, not just for Bow, but for everyone, so replenishing MP should never be an issue. He failed to utilize either of these tactics and yet complained about the system, that's a complete failure in my book. Seems like a typical modern "I want to mash shit out and get a win" type "gamer" to me. I'm also not going to agree with his story times. I beat both the first and second parts of the story, combined, in less than 50 hours.

I'm not real sure your desire to find reviews on the game really. You can always just ask me anything at all you'd like to know about it, I'd be glad to tell you. I love the game, but I'm not some fanboy type idiot who doesn't admit the issues, or is unable to see the qualities that some people may not enjoy; I can tend to see it all fairly objectively even if I do like it, in short. So I'll shoot straight with you, just ask.

I just like to watch and read different reviews :P and see all the different opinions on the game. I don't really care in the end cause they almost never decide my buy XD just something fun to see what others think.

Yeah, I can agree with that. It's just unfortunate that almost any reviewer these days play games for speed and in such, can't evaluate a true worth. I don't even think they understand how to get below a game these days and figure out what makes it tick, and the systems fall in to place to create an even elementary advantage to themselves as players. You'd think places would have divisions with gamers of the skills and time necessary to properly evaluate these deeper games. From where I sit, a half assed review isn't worth a damn thing and that's about all we can get anymore.

Heh, I remember a while back one of the Kotaku contributors played Doom for the first time recently. A guy who had been reviewing FPS games for years, but had never played the classics. It's just an unfortunate situation when people like that are contributing to the gaming media.

Strid,

I had no idea you were playing WKCII so much. How do you like it thus far? I was thinking of getting it, as I really enjoyed WKC1. I am Guild Rank 9 and got bored of doing BR2 all day long.

Add me in PSN if you still play, and hopefully I pick it up soon. I have been playing way to much OoT on the 3DS but I am just about done with it!!!

If you enjoyed the first you'll enjoy this one, it's a hell of a lot better. Gone are the days of AC charging, standing there like a lump while your combat ring fills, not being able to knight with your avatar, etc., etc. GR max is 30 (for now) but the requirements have been lowered around the board. I'm GR 21 and the total to 22 was only 2.1 million I think. The days of BR2 are over and have been swapped for OGIT II-III (Only Game In Town - via Greede) which I find to be a lot better for the cause. It takes 2-3 minutes to run OGIT III and it nets (with GR ticket, not sure about without) 37,000 points. However, the game isn't an OGIT only affair, there are no shortage of rooms running other quests, but when people want to rank up quickly, that's the spot.

If you have your WKC save file you should be able to get to GR 16-17 without even going online, from GR 9. I started at GR 5 and was able to pump up to 13-14, I forget, before going online. There are errands quests littered throughout the cities now, most of them are talk to X, talk to Y, return to X, profit. Some require items, but most of them can be gotten through other errands, heh. Anyway, these give a lot of GR points. There are also bounty quests that send you after boss type monsters on the maps, these also give GR points.

More importantly, what the hell is up with your Bills? I thought they had all but forgotten how to play football there in Buffalo!

Strid,

I am going to try and pick this up soon then. Add me on PSN. Username is Sirza.

Should be fun. I really did enjoy the first one a lot. Very fun game, very fun online.

Also, the Bills are having an awesome season as their record shows. They are 4-1 with notable wins over the Raiders, and Patriots. I would say the Eagles but they are 1-4 now. The loss to the Bengals was tough, but they are 3-2.

Look out for this team this year, If Ryan Fitz keeps it up and Fred Jackson keep getting 20+ touches (rushes or receptions) this team is a contender. Next week should be a great game against the Giants, and a real test at their offense.

Hopefully talk to you soon!

I really wish I had more free time :( I want to beat Dark Souls so. And I still have to beat Deus Ex: Human Revolutions. And then I wanna beat Arkham City and Skyrim. But I wanna get this game eventually and beat it too. I wish I had enough money to take a full year off and just play games and go out and relax :P oh well.

If you cool cats are still playing, I wanted to get back in due to the latest patch. I think my character is mid-50s, but with the break coming it's not like I have much else to do than work drink and play video games.
My PSN is MrDolomite, if you're interested.
