Well, after formatting my computer a little while back, looked through my games collection, and discovered I really don't have anything I'm still interested in outside of FFXI and PS2. Small loss. >.> But now with my new laptop, and a 3 hour gap between classes on tuesdays and thursdays, I have a problem. NEIT has FFXI IP-banned. So FFXI is out, presumably along with any other major online game.

So I find myself in need of a game to pass the time, one that can survive on a computer that has a bit of trouble with FFXI on the default settings.

Any suggestions?

I always loved certain titles like the Gran Turismo series and Grand Theft Auto...Was drooling over GT4 for 2 years before it finally came out. The problem was that when it came out I was immersed in FFXI. I couldn't justify spending any time on another game if I wanted to meet any FFXI goals.

When I stop playing FFXI, I'll pick up GT4 on greatest hits for 10-20 bucks...Or will all games just seem sub-par at that point?

Computer Games huh,

Startcraft still rocks and should run on that computer, Diablo I/II, Civilization (personal favorite is 2), Fallout...

Or are you looking for newer games that will run on your computer?

Edit: Or perhaps d/l'd some emulators and have fun with Nes/Snes/Genisis/ect goodness.

And thanks to that post, I just remembered that I have an emulator and FF 1-6 buried somewhere on this computer, just needa copy them over.

But really, I'm looking for entertainment, old, new, doesnt' matter, just anything that I won't have to turn down to minimum spec to get to run.

Stronghold is a fun castle building game :P
Half Life
Half Life 2
Starcraft (as said above)
Warcraft (any)
Deus Ex (best FPS ever)
Vampire The Masquerade (any :P)
Freelancer (fun space game)
RPG Makers (there's many out there.. they are fun to pass the time)
ZNES with FFVI or Chrono Trigger or any other SNES game you like

you choose :D

any D&D game but mostly Neverwinter Nights *remembers teh good old days* ; ;

Nope mostly Baulders Gate 2. /drool

Played both, beat both. <.<

NWN had some good player-made content, but beat that too. >.>

Maaaaaaaaaaiii, just get yourself some roms of all your older favorites. Most Emulators these days run flawlessly on any system (if it works on my computer...i'm almost 100% certain it'll work on yours.). If you need any help finding any, let me know. I have a bunch.

I've still got my old genesis favorites around, along with the genesis itself, but they're completely impossible to play on a keyboard... I tried playing Sonic 2, just not the same as a good controller, and peripherals (besides mouse) arn't an option. >.<

Emulators will give you lots of time to go back and play some good shit. Hell I got to enjoy Kid Icarus again the other night. Still is a hard game, in comparison to some modern games =P

Hard as -hell- at that. Section Z is also considerably harder than I remember it being. And Mai, you can pick up a USB controller called the Gamepad Pro for about $10, thats how much mine cost. Its pretty basic, looks exactly like a ps1 controller. Works for every emulator i've tried, including TurboGrafix 16 HU-GO. Thats deep.

Deus Ex! get it D: (as I said above) :P it's fun.. you know you wanna :D

Dues Ex The Conspiracy was a kick ass game. Very long and good. Had the RPG Elements in making yourself stronger, modding your guns, improving your stregth, and all that. That game was good fun I will heavily agree on that.

Well, I'll certainly see if I can find Deus Ex in stores, wanted to get that for ages...

And Veo, this is college I'm talking about... can't exactly bring in a gamepad, hook it up to the comp, and look even remotely like I'm doing work. As I said, peripherals arn't an option. XD

Why can't you use a controller?

E-bay can be your friend. I remember seeing it on there for a few dollars XD (deus ex that is)

You bring a USB controller into class with a straight face, then tell me.

I got one of those fit-the-laptop-and-nothing-else bags. >.>;
