I haven't actually tried this yet but it seems like it would work, in all theoretical senses.

I'm falling behind on sigs so I'd like to do some during my few spare moments at work. I should technically be able to just copy my entire FFXI\ROM-ROM3 folders, bring them to work, copy Model Viewer with it, then view all the .dat's without installing FFXI on my work computer. Sound about right? Has anyone tried this?

If I install it, our reporting system will pick it up and I'll get questioned from above as to why it's on a business computer. However if I just copy the .dat's, I can lock the folder to myself only and the spiders won't be able to pick it up.

Unless it uses any outside shaders and lighting (maybe directx 8/9? I'm not very well up on how SE does things to make the game looking prettier) I'd assume so.

You could always test on your home PC by specifying a fake path to the files and copy and paste the ROM files into some other directory.

Let me know if it works. I'll start making similar stuff at work. Haha. All I need now is a 20gb Memory Stick . . . .

Hmm, I heard somewhere that it needs to be in the Registry Editor for it to be picked up by stuff like that. Hopefully they are wrong.

yes, that should work fine. THe onry problem is the size of the ROM folders.
