Finnnnnnnnnnnnalllllly!

They plan to make the PC version of Final Fantasy 11 windowable. Yes. You heard it here first!

The windowed version has been approved by the higher ups. Soon enough, we shall hear a formal announement and receive more information regarding this feature! For now, we speculate that this will be done via a future patch update.

Also, we mentioned to them how the drop rate for certain end-game items are particularly difficult. The whole team seemed very interested in our feedback (well, your feedback!) regarding this. Sage Sundi himself mentioning that we should expect a change in drop rate in the future as they evaluate that which was discussed. (More details and pictures later!)

well thats nice and about time, So this will mean no one can complain any longer about windower and there will be no reason to use archbells, unless you use plug ins and that would be just wrong now if it isnt implemented in the SE version ^^

Yeah that'd be great. I don't care so much about the plugins, I just use windower for the windowing.

why cant they have a windower for x360 users? that way i can play football and ffxi at the same time.....

I think is a good thing to swap server (even if it cost some kind of ingame fee or real life money fee) and allow to have 1st pt software windowable feature for FFXI soon, this will help

1) no more whining about "I GOT BAN FOR USING WINDOWER"
2) Bring back some old time FFXI player
3) My theroy SE windower won't let you able to load up game more once. With the Windower we have right now, you can log in as much time as you can if you have multi account and if your computer able to handle it, don't think SE window mode will allow that

And also in my opinion that Endgame monster rare drop rate should just be left alone, it'll make stuff too easy and if it easy, everyone is gonna have one... and in long term effect, this gear isn't as much valueable is it is before, and no one will work for it...

Why would they care about that? As long as you're paying for 2 seperate accounts, i don't see where the problem is.

Finally. About 2 years too late.

Odds are once the windowed version is in, we'll start seeing bans of people using windower.

I dont really wanna open this can of worms but maybe windower IS detectable. Since such a huge player base probably uses it it would really hurt SE to ban all those accounts from a money money money POV.

So now this way, "You don't use our product we give you the ban stick" cause theres no reason to use it now.

My guess is the gil seller example where the player has like 6 people on 1 computer and just switchs from window to window.

kinda hope they implement the alliancetp/mp, mob hp into the game when they add the windower.

i hope they enable scripts for macros >.<

What was their reason for doing this?

Side note: This might make me want to play on PC.
Popular demand, no doubt.
To anyone who at any point in time has said vanilla windower is hax... this speaks for itself.

The question is: How many people will switch to the sanctioned windower when they can cheat on the old one? My pessimism says not many. I hope SE cracks down on users of the 3rd party windower that can use plugins after they release their official one. Extended macros, Distance, TP - it'll be nice when noone can cheat anymore. At least we'll finally be able to separate the "I just wanna browse the internet while LFP" crowd from the crowd only interested in cheating. I've been able to hold strong on not using windower at all, since I've swapped from PS2 to PC version last year, but it's getting tedious and I look forward to a windowed mode I can use w/ a clean conscience. Actually, I mostly look forward to not getting booted from XI when my antivirus program activates for whatever reason, or Windows decides it's time to notify me of some minor task that it deems of utmost importance, with a popup window...

I will. I don't even use tp plugin for windower. I don't make longer macros, I don't use draw distance, I don't use parsers or ability timers. I use mp3s and IE.

Parsers will still work for SE windower, so that won't be an excuse to fall back on either, all it does is read the logs.

Edit. You can just make your own ability timers... it's not too hard to do, just use a difference in time say, every 15-30seconds have an /echo of how much time is left.
