Hm.. usually when I die in the dunes I HP and quit PT if its a bad PT (because I always leave HP in Port Jeuno) Normally I don't have much of a problem with dunes because I just make my own PTs ^^

Valkurm is a lot easier when you make your own PT ... while still in Jeuno or Rabao ^^ Most people I ask will know that I'm trying to put together a decent PT and accept ... the people who just go "WTF why are you lvl 50+ in Jeuno?" are probably the ones I don't want anyways.
 
I wouldn't be shocked to see people lvl 17 in qufim before too long. People who are levelling their thrid or fourth jobs. Its still to early, but I've felt that desparate to leave the dunes before.
As a PS2 player, I don't really know how the dunes were before. I'm sure the PS2 has brought in more children, but regardless, PC users can be naive and young as well.
Every time I go back though, I manage to die less. And every time I go through, I see more adv jobs. I think the dunes are better than when I started, but by no means fun. I'm about to have to take my war to the jungle, and I am NOT looking forward to it, but maybe I'll be surprised as I think the majority of ps2 users are experienced enough to at least not be terrible.
I have played in all areas with shitty pc users though.
And Swishiee's right. For Christ's sake, keep your hp close!
 
the dunes are a sort of "learning ground" for the masses.
its the easiest place to get a pt at those lvls because of its high population.
its where the good players emerge and the buffoons get left behind.
ive just been laughing at the stupidity and relaying it to my LS, its great comedy:)
ive just learned to accept that yes, i will die a few times due to anothers
inexperience or bad attitude, but at the same time, it allowed me to help a few people(who were willing to listen).

last night i got frustrated and left a pt, put down the flag, and saw a /sh
very nicely begging for help on selbina sub job items. knowing my sam can devastate in the dunes, i tagged her along for 20 mins and got every one.
she was so pleased ! it felt good to make someones day like that, because
man, i would've loved it too back then :)

good can come from bad, as long as you can stay away from the buffoons long enough.
 
The dunes seem to be a necessary evil for all players. despite all the bad pts i get in the dunes i dont mind going there because ive had some killer ones too. Where we were gettin 5 chains and doin SC's lie no one's business. Its a dice roll, some times you get lucky.....sometimes you get noobs.
 
I got another group in the dunes last night with my level 15 NIN, and I was there for a little while. It was an alright party. Then the WHM leveled and decided it was time to go, and I decided I should to since it was late and I should logout. I disband, but after I disband, I notice that one of the members typed in /p mode "Level then leave. F*ckers." (the word wasn't censored when he typed it). I wouldn't of had a problem with it if it wasn't plural. So I turn around and say "Hey. I didn't level so don't give me sh*t about leaving." (that word wasn't censored either). It just bugs the crap out of me with not only how dumb players can be, but how rude and selfish they can be. "OOOOOH! I'm a level 15 DRK so I have the power to be an asshole." That's all for my current dunes rant.

I think that's because most n00bs either give up or grow up by then. (the former probably being most common)

And about the dunes, my WHM sub is still at the levels for that place, and I've only had a few bad experiences lately. Actually the other day I was in a pt where everyone but one guy had a subjob and was rank 3+. (Not saying that there aren't n00bs that fit that description, but you have to admit there are fewer of them)
 
a bunch of idiots kids....i taje offense to that comment mainly because i am a ps2 user, i am not a kid however but the fact that you group all ps2 users into the category of "idiot kids" i dont appreciate, thats just my 2 gil :)

I agree. Wtf is with people discriminating against ps2'ers? From a thread I started people are saying that it's the "PS2 era". Huh? 2000? I assume most people here were alive in 2001. If you don't mean PS2 players specifically when you say stupid PS2ers, say something else.
 
Heh, I could have been a PS2'er myself, if I wasn't too darn impatient. I finally broke down last February and ended up upgrading my computer a bit so I could play this game instead of waiting for the PS2 version.

I'm one of those "old school" gamers, originating from the Atari 2600 era. And I did play with my cousins who had the original Pong console too whenever I visited them. Oy, those were the days I was scared my dot would get swallowed whole by a dragon... {/sigh}
 
Dang forgot to make my point. Just to say that some console die-hard players might be coming from a further way than just FF7 or FFX

I agree with loslego. Just because somone plays the ps2 version of FFXI doesnt mean you can bash us and banish us from all pts.

I was just LFP one day in Qufim and all of a sudden I get a /tell saying, "Hey, would you like to join a pt in Quif?", I respond "Sure, that'd be great.". Then I get another /tell saying "Do you play ps2 or PC?", I say "I play ps2, computer is good but I dont have good enough graphics card". He says "Oh, a no0b, later pal". What the flyin FUCK is up with that, that really chaps my ass.

I try to be as polite as I can online, and in real life, handing out respect to almost anyone. But good god, what the hell? This kid was spamming 10 minutes afterwords "LOOKING FOR MEMBERS" 50 freakin times, and was at least 3 levles below me, and he calls me a "no0b" wich is really awsome may I add, wow I can say no0b with an o and a zero, holy hell.

Sorry for the rant but damn people, when you rant and rave and bitch n moan about "OH THERES TO MANY "No0bs" IN THIS GAME" its just showing your immaturity and that you have pretty much no life, and yes, some of us actually have lifes. I have somwhat of one.

Anyone who flames somone for being a ps2 player, likmydik :evil: :x :D
