OK did gardening get nerfed?

I been doing cuttings >> saplings for a long time now. I used to get 15-18 saplings out of 10 cuttings. I just harvested on a mule and got 9 saplings and 12 stacks of SHELL BUGS! WTF IS THIS????
 
Gardening got nerfed a long time ago in terms of elemental ores. I don't know about recent nerfs since I stopped way back when I used to get 4-5 ore per 10 plants, and now only get 1-2.


BTW Alanon, I have an Apollo's staff signed by you that I am trying to sell. If I can't sell it through Bazaar, would you want to buy it back since it is signed by you, or is it ok if I put it through the AH?
 
This is new. Ive NEVER gotten anything but a sapling from a cutting. Between this and digging, I suspect stave prices are going to go through the roof.

And go ahead and sell the staff. There may be an LS mate or two that may trade ya for it. Maybe damita?
 
Yeah, I have never gotten anything besides Saplings from Cuttings, whether it be 1 or 2 saplings was the only thing I worried about. They did say they were adding in new receipes I believe.
 
They did also say they were changing a particular recipe (in addition to new seeds etc). That was the only gardening harvest that had a 100% result, so I'm guessing it got changed a little...
 
That sucks. My Arcane still hasn't gone to harvest yet. I was hoping on the saplings from it to get to 10 for mule gardening. I'm going to be pissed if I get Shell Bugs off of an Arcane Flowerpot. Get ready though gardeners...Aug. 22 is our big payday. I have 2 mules set up already, just waiting for the seeds. Soon as I get my hands on them it's all going to feed. I feel that this update will be a great thing for those that wait weeks to make money lol.

Yeah, but that is the fun of gardening. When I first started I would get bronze scales and all other kinds of crap. Lol at Tree Cuttings-->>5 Marlboro Vines. The only thing I'm really dissapointed in there is no in game skill for gardening, that also works for me though considering that I have 10 pots each on 3 mules on a different account. So what I've been doing is Tree Cuttings to Saplings on my main with 5 pots. Getting 10 saplings, sometimes 8 or 9, from my main then sending them to my mules for second growth and it's great because I can log in whenever and check the trees. With the news of Shell Bugs from straight Tree Cuttings though... I really hope SE didn't fuck up my system lol.

With the new additon of seeds though, I love it. There is going to be a food that is the "best" for chocobo raising, and what I am calling for is all the gardeners to get together and say what they have grown and how long it took. I don't want recipies to be made public, because I will never give out true info unless you are 1) in my LS and I like you and 2) because noone helped me out, but to know the possible outcomes and total time for the outcomes is something that I am willing to share, no plant days/ check days/ crystals used/ harvest days disclosed. Can I get a second on this???

haha, I didn't think about that. That is a very good plan but eventually the info would get leaked out from other servers. Then end up on the internet somewhere like somepage.

LOL at somepages gardening expertise. . . Believe me though, the gardeners that know, will never release it to the public, and if they do there is always info missing. I've looked for it, "found it" then had to tweak it. Granted there are sites that give you the basics, but to get a reletivly constant harvest you have to always add your own research to it. What the hell though, if you know of a site that gives all the gardening tips please PM me with the link.
 
I used to have the same system of you Shaunessy. I would grow Saplings on my main and one mule, then send them to my other 4 mules to grow Elemental Ore. I would always have something growing on my mules and my main, and it created a nice stream of cash. Then they nerfed the ore success rate so I quit gardening.

Yeah, it's still a nice stream of cash just not like it used to be. Plus the fact that my bro lent out his PS2 to a buddy of ours I can't constant bazaar anymore. Oh well though, last few weeks have been shitty for me anyway, only got 7 saplings from main and hoping that arcane closes out the 10. Hell now would be a great time to proc 3 for the arcane, only ever seen that once though in the time that I've been gardening Y(0.0)Y, and I've been doing it since I was a level 11 WHM and scrounged up enough money from selling beehive chips to buy my first two pots and stands lol. I missed the nerf though, was out of the country at the time so to me I don't really mind. Still smile though everytime I harvest 1 or 3. Easy cash lol, and saplings were always easy to grow just take alot of time. Hell if I didn't have so much gear for all the different jobs I'm leveling would probably have more mules gardening. It's nice to be able to get 550+ invo slots from anywhere in Vana though. Maybe oneday I'll sort the shit and get rid of armor and weapons I don't need, but that's hard to do when you can play 3 toons at the same time. LOL, I own more Courage Rings than the people that make them.

So you ask for a link to a comprehensive site but also say that you won't share any info on new recipes. How does that work? :/
 
I actually had a FAQ on Gamefaq a long time ago, but removed it when my profits started getting ripped into lol
