Though I hate paying/farming millions worth of items to get the new af, in some ways this allows for an EASIER alternative then coffer hunting. First, its easier to compete over mob spawns then coffer spawns. Second, there are still some that can't get the help they would need for keys(bear in mind, most of these new areas are higher lvl then the areas for coffer key drops for other af's). This allows for those who can't find the help, to simply(word used loosely, lol) raise the gil and buy the items they need. I actually think SE did a good thing with this idea, I just think there should've been some measures put in place to control the price gouge, i.e. maybe have it drop in BCNMs, or have the mobs drop cloth instead of having to desynth to get it (which i believe accounts for 1/2 or better of the current price on cloth, just look at the price of the robes right now). I was lucky enough to pick up a farming party with a very high lvl CC (mine is only 82, not sure how safe it is for me to try), and seemed to be a good group overall, so I'm hoping to get the 2 I need.

Anyway, all I'm saying is, it just allows for alternate ways to aquire the new af, considering none of the materials are ex., which is what SE was trying for.

I prefered coffers. People like me can actually get crap done when it doesn't cost x mil more than you'll ever have. 1 mil gil is a ton of gil to me. I prefer things that can be obtained through quests or w/e because most of us can't get that kind of money to spend on gear or whatever else.

also, most of the time you can't get people to help you obtain an item that you can just buy (even if it is worth millions). They look at it like, "what's in it for me? You get a mil gil item for my help." But getting help for things that are ra/ex is so much easier, because you can find that people will be generally more willing to help you out. You just have to either know how to ask, or find a LS that cares.

I agree coffer key where never that hard to obtain this system is just annoying

The hardest coffer key to get is the Beadeaux one.

I would prefer getting 1,000,000 of those (and finding the coffers) that buy an overpriced item for my frikin' new AF...

The hardest coffer to get for me personally is Garlaige, getting the key was somewhat easy though.

I haven't done a lot of research on these new added quests outside of the general "rants" that I've been hearing from those who are doing this. Are these expensive items being used for other things outside of the quest? And for what it is is being used for.. does it warrent the cost at least remotely?

I'm willing to wager that it doesn't, and with that in mind, for those of you who might be struggling with the price woes-- I'd suggest just not entice the competion for this expensive item and wait for the hype to die down. As seen with everything else from the new jobs-- all the items will clearly go down in price when the demand lowers a bit. However, what you have to realize is that SE truly designed these jobs with the end game player in mind-- not the player who might have this as their first job. Unless you want the glory of being one of the first to have it I'd just wait it out.

If they put it in a coffer, wherever the coffer was would be crowded for the next few months.

I still think it's better than paying millions for a item. I can't make that kind of money. Most of us can't.
