Ok, that's it, if you want S+I, bring Powders and Oils!

I'm sick and tired of having to run out and S+I you in the middle of aggro-filled zones. In the big CN room leading to the Rumble / Beetle tunnel & secret room, I died S+I'ing someone because they moved incredibly slowly. They sat around and waited after the first S+I, then when I had to S+I again, they started...almost walking. 3/4 of the way there (I was at camp), they say "Sneak wearing." I throw on m'own S+I, and run out there, and get myself bleeding well killed becuase someone is slow. I can't take it anymore!

It does suck. I think everyone should be responsible for their own sneak/invis.

However, I will ask for a sneak/invis at the beginning of a camp location run (ex: at the entrance to Kuftal tunnel when we're going to go camp in Teriggan) and then use my own materials if they wear off. And of course, only if this occurs when the mage is right next to me about to make the same run. And if the mage says "no" for whatever reason, oh well, good thing I brought my own materials, right?

Asking a mage to run backwards through an aggro region to limp you through it is just a little selfish.

Yeah, I really wish people would be smarter about sneak/invisible. I'm a mage and I carry my own oils and powders. I don't mind being a sneak/Invis whore on the way to the camp, but people should be able to help themselves in the event that I'm not around.

Only time I go back to get a party member, is when I tractor their ass back to camp, then then give them a Raise 1, and they like it!

I get annoyed by ppl not bringing their oils/powders too. But sometimes sympathize them because of the outrageous price of those tools.
But then again they only have themselves to blame, they are shooting themselves in the foot when they try to get a few hundred gils more putting those beehive chips on AH.

True that everyone should bring oils and powders, but realistically its not going to happen. Silent oil ranges from 10-13K, which is about 2 times the price a few months ago. For new players, it is excusable as gil is probably an issue for them. However, if its your 2nd or 3rd time through that level, you should know better. Yes, its a waste of time to baby sit people, but what can you do?

My two cents: If you post 70 and still asking me to sneak or invs you, then your a fucking cheapskate or a stupid noob.

Until recently, I never used powder/oil. Once I started getting parties in really dangerous areas, though, I started bringing my own with.

My policy when not playing a mage:

-I will ask for Sneak/Invis spells upon entering a zone as long as the mage isn't too far ahead of me.
-If my sneak/invis starts to wear in the middle of a zone and I can't make it to the zone before they go completely, I'll use powder/oil.
-If I'm in a zone that has no sight aggro (or at least we aren't going past any sight aggro), and I can find a safe spot to wait for a mage when one is close behind me, I'll ask for magic and wait in a safe spot.
-If we get aggro and fight it, I'll ask for Sneak/Invis once the aggro dies unless the area is incredibly dangerous and everyone needs to be quick when reapplying Sneak/Invis.

My policy when playing a mage (doesn't completely apply as my highest mage is 44):

-I will Sneak/Invis you when you first enter a zone if you want it.
-If your Sneak or Invis wears off when you are near me and I do not need Invis in this area, I will recast Sneak/Invis on you.
-If you get aggro and die because you couldn't Sneak/Invis yourself, I will watch you die, Tractor your corpse to a safe area, and Raise you. If we have time to wait for MP I will Raise 2/3 you, if not I will just Raise 1 you.
-If you get aggro because you couldn't find a safe spot to use your own oil and we have enough people to kill the aggro, I will help you kill it. If we don't have enough people, I will give you the highest Raise I have at the time after Tractoring you to safety.
-I will not drop Invis to Sneak/Invis you if I am standing near sight-aggro mobs.

On a side note, nice to see you on QCDN, Ahyu ^^

I'm sorry, but until I see mages spending as much as we do on powders and oils, I have no sympathy for you having to sneak and invis your party members. You were given the spell for a reason.

If you don't want to...If it's such a hassle, don't buy the spell. Pretend you don't have it and use your own powders and oils. Then maybe you'll know how we feel.

We worked just as hard for that experience we're about to lose running our asses back into aggro zones to cast invis and sneak on you and ending up dead. Nobody's saying that they wont' cast sneak/invis when it's convenient/safe but Melee should have oils/powders for situations when it's not.

this is my biggest pet peave. i am in a static with my rng and a brd. together we can fill in a party with any bunch of idiots and pull 4k an hour. the other day we were in kuftal tunnel, gonna set up camp by zone to cape terrigan. the monk dies...the pld's sneak is wearing, so he runs down by the spiders(south instead of north where everyone else was) and dies. mnk gets raised...then dies again. we get pld raised. mnks sneak wears, blm cast sneak right next to an elemental and dies. WTF you fucking noobs cost me an hour of xp, when we got going we were getting 6k an hour, thats 6k more xp we could have gotten. everytime i am 6k tnl i am gonna think of morons all over this game that are too fucking cheap to supply themselves with what they need. and that includes mages too, i have seen many mages die by agro from elementals on the way to camp, its just flat out dumb.
on top of that, the oils and powders are much more stable than the spells so they will probablyy get you to camp or the next zone with0out having to stop in the middle of a bunch of aggroing mobs.

Idunno, I say just give 'em sneak/invis if possible. The powder/oils should be on hand but not be required...more or less as a fallback in case the mages happen to be completely out of reach or you're stuck between a rock and a hard place... or a shitload of robber crabs.

Actually I'd say mages should carry them as well. There are those rare occasions where you might get caught near magic aggros and can't cast ;P

I dunno i always try to cast this as much as i possibly can. Why? People dyin tend to sometimes break party, make everyone lose faith right in the begining, or set the lowest memember so far back or delevels him to the point that it will affect the party.

Of course I too hate those stupid guys that don't know how to run and find a safe place to hide to recast re-oil/powder.

I usually carry the stuff with me. When I have NIN subbed (or main), I carry Shinobi-tabi with me for invisible. And I usually craft silent oils for myself so I can both sneak and invis myself if I'm soloing or in an emergency. When I'm in a party, I usually like to ask for one sneak to get me going (I don't care about invis since it's 99 Shinobi-tabi per stack), that way I don't use one of my silent oils. When my sneak is running out, I usually get myself to a safe place, and then do it myself with an item. I don't expect the mage to sneak me the whole way to wherever we're going.

Sneak/invis from mages also gets annoying from a melee point of view. For an example, I'll tell you about my trip to Castle Zvhal for 5-2. We started out alright, but then after a while, someone would have their sneak/invis refreshed only to see "Mine's wearing" from someone else a few seconds later. When you're trying to move along as a group, it's really annoying because you move very slowly. I ended up using my own oils and ninjutsu tools (I also did that because one of the WHM was being extremely rude about having a sneak/invis partner).

Some mages have different policies about sneak/invis than others. It's a good idea to carry the stuff with you just in case.

People who play this game are worthless. 90% of the players are garbage pail kids who only want the next level and can't stop to grab a few of the essentials to make everything more smoothe. If BST wasn't such a boring job I swear to christ I would have been one just to avoid parties. I will never make it to 70+ with my lack of patience for idiots.

So let's get this straight, you melee want to buy a stack of 20k food so your not missing every other attack (like usual) but you can't buy items to get to your camp safe and sound so people like me and the other 4 who had their items don't have to wait another 20 minutes and raise your dumbasses? Retarded fucks. You want your mage who has half the HP, Defense, and prime target for an aggro snack to come hold your hand and help you to camp you dependant losers?

Stop being so fucking lazy, most of you melee never get invites but every other month anyways so why don't you make the most of the time you have and do something for yourself for once. Leave fucking lower, go outside, and make some gil please. Sick of all of you in my way, lagging up the game in Jeuno when I need to buy something and your just fucking windowbrowsing the AH every 5 seconds like a fat drooling kid who keeps doublechecking the refridgerator for a cheeseburger to magically appear.

I swear it's the job you play, my beloved old Ranger brothers always have these items on hand, Ninjas do, Thfs do, and the rest are a toss up..
I have never seen a PLD with sneaks or invis, then again I never pegged PLD to be a job played by the most intelligent, coordinated people on the server. :P (/equip "Flame Shield +1)

But really, from my experience, most melee are lazy and selfish and way to cocky for how replaceable they are. Deny it all you want, call me a dick all you want, just stating my opinion. I will say one thing and believe me Im not kissing up, I have yet to party with a QCDN melee who has let me down.

When convenient I have no issue with senak invising the party.... When convenient. By that I mean that they keep up and do not get lost. If someone gets lost in kuftal tunnel, guess what I aint going back and I aint looking for them. I HATE backtracking because some ediot "forgot" pots. Now if we are doing a mission or quest and some funky shit has happened and they ate through an entire stack real fast (as can happen) I will be a bit nore lenient.

My two gil:

Any party worth a shit will have at least two mages capable of casting these spells. I say at least because three is also highly common.

So what do you have to do? Keep spells on... let's see 6/2-3 hmmm... two to three people.

Pardon my sarcasm, but keeping one-three buffs on two-three people, one being yourself, it just must be insanely hard.

I guess I'm a lazy Thief though. I leveled up four sub-jobs, raised god knows how many skills, unlocked my Ninjutsu *I keep Tonko on me.*, bought a crapload of the nicest gear I could manage to farm for *For each of my subs respectively.*, pay out the ass for good food now, and am happy to go running for a party to all ends of the game.

To top all that off I also have my various ammo that has the price raised every day.

Now that isn't even the biggening of what I would call 'cost', but it adds up as you xp.

So please, buy your pie/juice and shut your pie hole. I might need a sneak/deoderize from you in the future, if I do I'd be happy to pay you a few hundred gil if it meant you'd do it without flaming to high hell.

I do have a couple of sneak oils in my inventory, but I make it a point to ask for a free spell before I use gil.

Most of the time i carry my tools with me so i dont have any trouble casting invisible on my self but sneak is an issue. Most of the time i get sneak from mages if possible cuz its greaking 10k per stack now... but if its a zone where mage can get in trouble casting sneak then i either put a stone on my heart and buy it or ask a crafting to mek afew for me.
