Okay, To invite, or not to invite?

Yeah shit like this sucks, but to be honest I've had to do it. I'm not a tard about it like this guy, but I've reclined invites. I felt like shit when I did but sometimes a person comes back from a dc a little late or some shit like that, it happens.

Yeah, I think that's kind of bullshit. First thing, Galka RSE is probably the best piece mage gear for a Galka up to mid level. I don't know what level your party was.

You knew it was a /Galka/ mage, so if great gear was a criteria for you, you should have asked how it was before you pulled him out there. It may sound rude, but if he's offended and turns down the party, his gear is probably bad, and he's not worth your time anyway.

If you're a mage, Galka or otherwise, you don't wear a bastokan ring past level 10 or whatever it is when you can grab those INT/MND rings or Astrals.

It was the starter RSE for a lvl 20ish party. No joke. The 27-33 RSE is good stuff though for galka mages.

Biggest pet peeve with invites are when they send a /tell, and all they say is "Hello". You're then required to send a "Hello" back, and wait for them to respond.

I noticed that was happening more and more over the last year. I would get those when I wasn't lfp. I'd do a /sea all lfp and there would be several other melee jobs lfp, but so many people will only merit with mnk/war/nin these days.

When someone gives me an invite like that or the standard "<party> <do you need it?>" I'm quite a bit more likely to decline it than if I get a polite invite.

When I send out invites it's something along the lines of "Hello, would you like to join a party? <level range> <jobs>" If it's an invite to someone Japanese I'll autotranslate <Hello> and the jobs and add in <experience points>

I got a invite from Svina the other night, he pretended to sound newby and i didn't know who it was at the time so my response was "Is this a joke or are you retarded" XD

I always accept if they are Japanese. Their parties are actually not shit.

As Airou and others who've partied with me as my witness, my invite /tell's are the best ever XD anyhow...

Sucks that it happened Ruffy, but remember when the shitty players stayed in the dunes and maybe qufim? Well, in an abundance they've made it further and further and now they're around ToAU. What can we do? I blame everyone who's helped with Kazham keys, PLed, or given money to noobs who didn't deserve it. What makes or breaks a person is trial and tribulation. These nubs haven't dealt with that shit, and may not deal with it until they plague and ruin your end game shells.

QFT and whatnot.
On the rare occasion I have dealings with an actual new player, I don't make everything super easy. I feel horribly mean doing it, but at a certain point, good natured help can be a very bad thing. Some things can only be learned on one's own, or through error.

To Garvin and Kotsu:

I agree, really.. but sadly, the days of allianced Ancient Papyrus, Allianced Genkai2, allianced AF.. are over. These days it's "grab a 75 and do it!"

I miss those days, doing Genkai 2 with 16 level 55s and a couple 65-70s, was a blast XD

I agree those were a ton of fun.

I just had something simular happen to me on my DRK. My DRK that I have spent the last week and a half seeking and only got into one party started by a linkshell member.

I was seeking in Jueno for about 3 minutes on my way to my usual place where I screw around while seeking, Rolanberry Fields, when I get an invite. I send the tell back that yes I do want a party. The person, who's name I don't remember, tells me to please come to Garlidge Citadel. So I run to the chocobo stables and make my way to Garlidge. About 2 minutes away from citadel I send a tell stateing that I am close and will be in citadel shortly. I get your standard, ok tell me when you get here, response. So I hop off my chocobo and run into citadel. My DRK is 50 so I figure we will be in the basement but I stay up top until I get invited that way I don't have to run around stupidly amidst all sorts of aggroing mobs. I send a tell saying that I am in citadel and ready for my invite.

***Segway***
When I got the original invite back in Jueno I didn't drop my invite flag but instead went anon to avoid getting another invite (riiiiight) so I am standing in citadel seeking but anon.
***Segway End***

So I get a tell from a random person who I've not yet spoken with asking what my job is. So i respond with <job> and wait. About 2 minutes later I send another tell to the original person asking for my invite. They tell me to hold on a sec, at this point I figure they are probably leaveing when they level and haven't done so as of yet. I don't really mind so much as I have done the same thing when I know I am going to be leaving when I level. Another 3 or 4 minutes goes past and I send yet another tell asking what the hold up is. They send me the exact same tell they sent me before. So I wait another 2 or 3 minutes and ask again. The response comes back they want to know what job you are. so I turn off anon and tell this person that I am no longer anon. About 5 more mintes I ask what is going on. And I am told that the party is freaking out about my job. I'm a tad confused at this point so I ask who the party leader is. And I get the name and I send a tell to the leader. About a minute after my tell the leader responds and tells me that I am to be replaceing a RDM. A RDM who is main healing with no PL. So it is pretty justified that the party did not want me to fill this position. So at this point I am very upset, not at the party because I understand that inviteing me would mean numerous horrible deaths for everyone involved, but at the retarted RDM who thinks that DRK can main heal.

Seriously though, why can't people use their brain and realize a melee DD can not replace the one and only healer in a party? Is it really that hard to know your function in a party without having it spelled out for you?

Same thing happened to me a couple of days ago where I got an invite for my whm to a merit pt from a PLD. He asked if I could party and I said sure but then like 2 minutes later he said they found another whm. No biggy for me since I already had a merit party earlier in the day.

i hope you dont get mad when ppl you invite ask you about the setup and location

Try reading some more. I specifically said In the exact same sentencethat I send in the rest of the information after the intitial /tell. This is without waiting for a responce. the initial /tell is to ensure the person cant say they didn just get an invite during the extra time spent outlining the party in the initial /tell. I've Seen situations where spending 5-10 seconds more to type out the initial /tell has resulted in me already being in the party of the first party leader over another and presumably just as competent party leader. If there aren't people in the party yet then I cant give em details about the setup other than what I wish to have as the party setup from what's seeking.

I've had to "de-invite" people a few times. I hate to do it, but I will if it's for the overall good of the party.

Example: 5/6 party members with me as low-level rdm/whm as the only mage. We waited like this for about 20 minutes until I start to get the inevitable questions of "Who's #6," and "When are we starting?" Although it's not an ideal set up, a tank, one healer and 4 melee in Qufim is better than disbanding. I invited a random DD job, and literally 30 seconds later a party member points out another mage that just started seeking.

Even then, it took some arm twisting from the party members to get me to take back the invite to the DD. I did my best to be polite and honest about the situation at least.

So on the bright side, it's likely that you either avoided a death-trap party with a bad set-up, or at least a slow, mediocre party.
