Was digging around in my files 'n folders cause I'm in the process of switching pc's. If any of you've played Homeworld, you might remember the 3rd last mission: Blow up the big Hyperspace gate surrounded by AI Ion Cannon Frigates. All of them in a HUGE ass sphere around the thing. This was my response to how to get in.

|----clicky!!!

I stole them. Almost all of them. I can't remember how many of them there are even there, but the one in the center is one I built, the rest are not.
Needless to say I destroyed the last two missions with those. Ah those were the days.

Felt like posting that. G'day all!

I did that. Was hard as fuck to do too.

Cloaked fighters to draw them away in manageable groups, and then use scouts to dance in front of them while the Salvage Corvettes came in and grabbed them. Had to keep saving all the time though, because every time one of them went towards my mothership, they ALL went for it, and just raped me.

A-ha! Guess you didn't quite catch the "trick" to it. Screw cloaked fighters, a good old bomber'll do it. All you had to do was get the bomber close to one, not to close mind you, but close enough for the Ion Frigate to "aggro" (lol to much FF anyone?) the bomber. Never attack unless you could park the fighter next to the frigate and it wouldn't move. (Attacking the frigate meant the entire sphere shifted, which was pretty nerve racking. I could go on and on about that level, but I won't unless I'm asked.) Then you just hauled the bomber waaaay the fuck away. Doing that x1 is easy enough. When I did that, I bounced 12-18 bombers all over the place, even enough that I scattered support frigates and carriers around to refuel them and speed up capture time. It took hours, lots of salvage corvetts, and about 6 different "Oh shit will I die?" saves. Eventually, once I took that screen shot, I was like, screw it, time to blow shit up.

I miss homeworld, I might re-install cataclysm sometime, and homeworld 2 online was amazing. Gee, I miss those days. :<

Homeworld was da bomb, both of em. Never played Cataclysm but finished the 2 main ones front to back.

The only thing I wish they did was differentiate between the units a bit more. The only real difference between Vaygr and... durrr... Taiwanian? I can't remember the other race's name, but anyways.

The only real diff between the two were mainly in the battleships: one relied on heavy missiles as a primary weapon while the other relied on ion cannons. Aside from that, the two races were exactly the same units with different models.

The Higgarans and Vaygr were quite different.

Higgara was prety weak in the corvette department, wheras the Vagyr dominated that respect. Higgarans made up for it with stupidly strong frigates, and a much more versitile carrier.

Also, Higgarans Battlecruiser was da bomb, and you simply cant argue otherwise. It had the Rapecannons.

Higgaran, thats the name. Were they that different? Corvettes were never a strong point for me, went from bombers to frigates usually in new skirmishes. The carriers... what noticeable difference? Both had 2 tech slots didn't they?

Rapecannons... I like it. The sound of those things would just melt my heart, and zooming in close on an enemy destroyer getting juiced in 3 seconds with those things...

Well, I was gonna rub one out before going to sleep but now I don't need to.

speaking of homeworld, been playing it recently... but something is wrong with my game. capital ships wont leave the motherships, as in, the door wont open. i cant even capture stuff cuz it wont open ;;

anyone heard of this/had this problem/know a solution?

The Higgaran carriers could build a fighter facility, corvette facility, and friggate facility all on one carrier. The Vagyr could only build one facility per carrier.

And battlecruisers are the souce of all the fun in multiplayer.

Best moment: Playing vs a guy who's prety good. He's beaten me a few times before. This time, playing Higgarans, I went straight through the tech tree to get a BC, while playing jackass with his resourcers (bombers strafing them and running away before he could defend them.)
Well, he eventualy finds my mothership with about 20 heavy missile friggates while my First BC is still in production. He unloads into the shipyard and blows it up the exact second the BC finishes. So theres the shipyard, becoming its nice little ball of exploding gas and debris, when one of the Ion cannon beams comes blasting out of the fireball and slices one of the friggates in half. It was one of those things you'd see in a movie or somthing.
Anyways, i raped the friggates with the BC and the bombers who showed up eventualy from the other side of the map, and hyperspaced to his MS and pounded it with the Rapecannons.

People know about this game?? This is the only RTS that i have ever liked/been good at. And im kinda wondering why i stopped playing it, probably cause not many play online now. I remember back in the day makin like a group of 200 small ships into groups of 5, then put all the groups of 5 into a sphere...and then "swarming" (is that what they called it?) their mothership. Good times.

I got the first homeworld in 2000. Still to this day I can never beat that game. It seems like I never get enough ships or resources, I end up getting killed all the time.

I work for the company that made Homeworld 1 and 2. Cataclysm was made by a different studio though.
Tell them to make #3
