Old school Otakus check this out ^^

Man, im suprised it has taken this long for them to actually make a series out of it.

It's an anime based off of the manga by Masamune Shirow, who also did Ghost In The Shell.

It's an all new CG movie :D

Correct-a-mundo XD

There was an Anime made for it about 15yrs (?) ago, it was actually one of the first commercially released Animes (without being "American-ized" i.e. Robotech) here in the states. I believe it was released by the old Streamline Pictures label from back then that released Akira, MegaTokyo etc. etc.
The Manga was also one of the first to get the royal treatment here in the US long ago, its absolute pre-requisite viewing and reading for any harcore Otaku.
I am so pumped about this............... Ive almost got disk 1 downloaded ^.~
I will buy this when it gets released domestically, its currently a Japan only release.
