I hate ppl who dont come prepared... its makes no sense to go to a place where you know shits gonna agro you but noooooooooo ppl are greedy they dont think about how its puts stress on the ppl who take there time to help them nooooo they want either mages or someone who came perpared to give them there oils or powders. Hey I got news for you if you cant afford oils and powders DONT FUCKING GO! how bout that why dont you take your finger jam it in your ass cose thats the only thing your gonna be doing when everyone else is trying to get there item and bustin there ass so your lame no oil podwer buying ass can get a rare item with minimal effort! Not to mention ill thought out plans oh hey let me cast around shit that agros to magic yeah thats a good idea oh wait Priest your uber you can handle that a manpulator and some toni links right!? Tho I dont name names cose I really dont think its important for ppl to harass them I hope they learn that if you want ppl to help you need to have a well thought out plan.... dont sit there and throw somthin together only to drag abunch of ppl to there death. If you cant organise or afford shit you need why dont you just wait... I know its hard to and hell you might get hit by a bus and drown in your own blood I dont care. Now this flame is not only towards the ppl I helped today its in general lately been helpin ppl to find out they have no idea what to do or have any clue of what they need. And am sorry if you have no clue on where to go who to talk to or what you need ... maybe your ass needs ot log off and look up wtf you need to fucking do! ...... and yes this is not like me am just fed up with all my deaths and no one given a single thought of how hard it is somtimes to get descent xp pts even at my lvl.

Haha, yeah I hate that!

Props on the avatar also, Sealab was funny as hell.

Back when i was playing, oils and powders were about 8k a stack. Nothing to me. But really, get some of that if you're gonna go to places that NEED it. I SWEAR!

I don't mind giving people a free sneak or invis, especially if they don't ask for it, but goddam, I hate being in a party and someone cops an attitude like it's my -job.- Um, no. THAT pisses me off. If you want to ask nicely, great, if I'm in a good mood i'll probably give you a freebie or two, but in no way to I owe it to a random stranger to babysit them all the way to camp, especially when it poses a risk to me. I die enough on my own, kthx.

I am not a baby sitter and therefore i enjoy watching people die. It might sound wrong but when i go out as brd/whm i carry at least 1 stack of prisims and oils just incase i miss on a cast or magic agro is present. This is just my normal going to party setup. When i go on a mission i normally will bring atleast 2 stacks of each knowing that i will most likely not use one. I was in a zm4 party not too long ago where a pld brought exactly 6 oils and 9 powders and expected to make it all the way to the sacraficial chamber. Dont be stupid.

I dont care who you are i WILL NOT sneak and invis you anywhere except for at the beginning of the zone.

Why you might ask...
Because it is not my job to risk my ass because you are a cheap bastard.

To all the well i brought some but i ran out people I suggest not trying that with me because i have in the past said to people then good luck running.

Thank you Priest for this flame so non mage jobs may realize just how cheap they are.

Also for those of you who say your not a melee you dont know the expense of carrying around all of the travel aids..

All i have to say is check the sig. I am a 62 Thief atm and I cannot think of one instance where i have asked for any kind of travel aid except for possibly at the beginning of a zone. If you dont like my answer become a mage job and shut up about it you'll figure out the ways of the world quickly.

To all of you non mage jobs that are prepared all the time thank you and sorry for the /rant.

This is a really old topic. I think everyone who posts here already sides with Priest on this, and those who don't wont be swayed by any argument.

thats all i need ^-^

Yeah.. if you're gonna camp Bubbly Bernie make sure to bring 30+ lv70+ people and silent oils.. that bastard is mean and everything in the zone aggros sound!

Why go through all this trouble? 500 gil bitches... 500 gil

I couldn't agree with this thread more. It's also one of the reasons most alliances take at LEAST an hour after the set starting time to get their collective ass off the ground. I was gonna use this as an opportunity to vent a bit, but have tried to change it into something more positive, so hopefully something good will come of it. If appropriate, and if the qcdn powers that be allow it, perhaps I'll also post this on the events scheduling board.worded in an even more positive manner.

Anyway, among the things I would truly like to see happen with respect to quests/missions there are the following:

1. Read up on the mission or quest (know where we're going, who we're fighting, what kind of mob or mobs they are, what to bring, how to get there, etc.)

2. Be where you are supposed to be at the agreed-on time. "Really, I'll be at the Bastok airship in 3 minutes" - for someone showing they're in Zeruhm Mines with the wrong job on for a party that was supposed to take off 20 minutes ago from atop the Lower Jeuno AH - well, it's just not acceptable. It doesn't show very much thoughtfulness or regard for other people's time either.

3. Please start the mission or quest! (it's so MUCH fun to find out someone in your party hasn't done that when you're 3/4 of the way down Gustav Tunnel)

4. Have the normal gear for the mission/quest (e.g. Level 40 cap BCNM fights)

5. Have oils/powders. Even for mages with sneak/invis spells, as far as I'm concerned, any responsible person level 65 or higher should be carrying a stack of each around at all times. The places we go, and the magic aggro issues we face, just makes it effing prudent.

6. Have the other things you're supposed to have for the mission (e.g. unlit lanterns, special drops, etc. (unless farming the drops is an agreed on part of the quest).

7. Take part in the prep work. If farming something, such as animas, is a part of it, then please participate in a prior farming parties. Don't expect the rest of the party to carry you - it isn't very thoughtful.

8. During the party, including in particular while getting to and from the camp, stick with the party! Don't run off ahead of or away from the party and get yourself killed. Getting to or from the mission site is often harder than the mission itself. Running off means you're risking going the wrong way, and also risking getting killed. In effect, you are relying on your party to take the considerable time it takes to find you, tractor you (or kill mobs around you), raise you, wait for you to heal, rebuff you, etc. - in other words, to bail you out after you've done something completely unrelated to the task at hand. Please note, when people lag because they need to recast something or find a safe spot to use oils/powders, thats part of the deal - just please be sure to let others know what is going on. The point here is, everyone else is in the party to do a mission. That's the priority. Don't fuck around and waste everyone else's time.

9. Prior to the battle, take the time to make sure everyone's clear on the battle strategy and their part in it. Don't rush in to a battle that requires planning and coordination, before everyone's clear on things like what to watch for, what to do, etc. Not all parties need this, but a lot do, and its helpful to remind the blm, for example, to be ready to stun the mob when it uses Baleful Gaze or whatever, or to discuss in advance the order for people to use animas, etc. And party leaders, please be prepared with such a plan or be prepared to discuss it within the party to come up with an agreed-upon plan before the fight.

10. Try to stick to the plan when actually engaged (and yah, I know that plans often don't survive the first minutes of the fight - I just hate it when that's because someone's run off and done something dumb).

Some final words - First, I'm applying these to quests and missions, and not to xp pts, because in xp pts we're usually fighting the same types of mobs over and over. That doesn't mean that many, if not most, of these principles apply for xp pts - many do.

Second, many times I'm helping others do something else, and have to leave them because I've committed to others that I will be someplace at a certain time to do something. In those cases, I'll have always let the people I'm with know in advance that I have to leave at a certain time, and even if we're not done, or they are close to leveling, I just won't be able to stay. My usual line is that others know I expect them to be there on time - it would be really bad for me not to keep that same commitment myself.

Third - if you've "picked up" someone at the last minute, you can't expect them to have done all these things. Let them know what they need and give them the time to get those things. Oils/powders for 65+ should be the exception, but you'll have to ask.

And finally, yes, there have been times I haven't done all these things. Each time I've felt embarrassed (as I think I should), and, hopefully, I've learned from those times. They may be ideals - but living up to them as much as possible helps me get invited to do a lot of things.

Hopefully this can be of use to some. Enough preaching on my part.

Empy's yellin at me for the sneaks>< i always ask for them...

Seriously tho, all respect given to mages, but there are circumstances where altho its not your "Job" to sneak someone, it does lend quite the helping hand. Altho people seem to have money to burn these days, tossing it on a stack of oils daily isn't imo the best way to spend your gilz. I understand where priest is comin from on this, be prepared, have oils, etc etc etc...but if u have the ability to snk for free, help your party out. Im not gonna ask empy for a snk in the middle of 10 dec weaps, but still, if you're close, help eachother out, make luv not war =)

peace

More or less what Firebrand said.

So sick of people never being prepared, when teh gather together time is say 5:00 they are logging on 5:10-15, wrong job, without meds, 4 zones away, and are missing CSs to boot.

Ohhhh this is just classic Pedro^^. Thank you so much for posting this. I wasn't gonna say anything, and I'll leave the names out, but you know who you are.

My story:

Last Monday I happened to be online. Well Juju in my LS asked me to come help him and some others with the minotaur. I said sure no problem and I'm so glad I did. Some of these people are level 40 characters and they were ALL prepared. They did just an awesome job!!! Yes sometimes 1 or 2 of them got a tad impatient (not waiting for mp and pulling too soon), and there was death, but all in all they did just an awesome job.

Fast forward to about 30 minutes later.

I get this /tel from someone I don't even know asking me to go to Gustav Tunnel to help someone get their Eviscration(sp?) NM. They explain they've already asked about 14 other whm's who've all said no. So, I'm like, sure wth I'll go help.

We get to Gustav Tunnel to the part where even level 75's get aggro, and the guy who needed the NM and another person all of a sudden say I need sneak and invis. LEVEL 75's!!!!!! Now I've already spent I don't know how much time waiting on one of the people to get done doin' whatever they were in Kazham. The whole time we were in Jeuno you mean to tell me the person needing this couldn't have taken 2 minutes to run to the AH and buy 1 damn oil? Or ask one of his buddies there to give him one? So, hell yes, I give the person a hard time. Of course after I gave him crap I was gonna sneak and invis him. But he doesn't wait. Instead he starts running thru the mobs and gets aggro. Next thing you know they're all fighting everything, one of the other players goes down, he decides to run thru the tunnel and zone them after I die.

Needless to say, for the first time since I started this game, I was so livid I reraised myself, didn't say a word and warped out. I have never done anything like that since I've started playing this game. If he would've handled it better, I would've reraised myself, gotten the weakened off, raised the others who died also and helped him. You know who you are. Don't EVER ask me to help you again! That was one of the stupidest moves I think I've seen in this game.

Not a shock, sadly.

I've lost count of the people I've seen with stupidly expensive gear that simply couldn't be bothered to carry oils and powders with them. And it never ceases to vex me...

I'm not the mage, I don't have to sneak you. That much is true. But you constantly stopping and asking for sneak/invis is WASTING MY TIME.

I also notice how every odd person you teleport for gil decides that he's not ready yet. He shouts for a Teleport-Dem or something (for example) and then you go towards him and he says he's gotta get something at the AH, or get Signet. Now that stuff doesn't bother me, so long as there's not other people in the party that want to be 'Ported too (because then they leave), or if it just doesn't take like 10 minutes. Like the one guy who offered like 1000g for two people to be Tele-Demmed. He was ready, but his friend had absolutely nothing. He went to the AH and started selling and buying stuff. About 15 minutes later, he still wasn't ready, so I just did the whole "screw this" bit.

Oh and about the Oils and Powders. Yeah, I'd agree to an extent. Most people either have Tonko or Invisible, so that clears the Powders. But nowadays you see Oils worth like 30k for a 12stack. I'm freaking appauled at the prices. Just seeing that makes me pity the non-Mages and actually help 'em out. Like I said in another thread-- Give 'em their stealth spells, it just shows everyone how Mages are the best things ever ^^

That's just complete and total bullshit. You also see earth and water crystals for about 2k a stack in towns. That's about 1 hour of farming even at a low level. Water and Earth crystals are a dime a dozen drop. So don't even try and pull that crap on me.

Don't get me wrong, I also agree prices for oils are hideous. And I don't mind doing first sneaks/invisys for a party in the zone we're going through, if they stick around for em. After that, though, it gets a bit more difficult, especially in places like Cauldron or Den of Rancor, or Ulugerand Range. If I'm trying to keep 2-5 others snuck and invisibled, as well as myself, it gets pretty tough - and its the times I'm worried about the rest of the party rather than just keeping track of myself that I am most likely to get distracted, get aggroed myself, die, etc.

To me, if a person's made it to level 65, I would hope I can assume they have their ways of earning gil - and that they can afford these things for travel purposes, at least on an emergency basis after getting snuck and/or invisibled at the start of the area we're travelling through.

I'm a lv 70 whm.. and as far as the teles go I always worked this way: Someone shouts, /tells, or w/e and I got time and patience, I tele them. One at a time. If they dont offer money then oh well, I'm casting a spell. I think the whm who wait until they have a full party before they tele are rude. People are PAYING you to cast a spell.... they shouldn't have to wait on you. Also people should for teles before they are done with what they are doing because it can take hours to get a tele if jeuno lacks whm that are willing to tele.
