if you're gonna steal something from a gil seller you ought to drop it to get rid of the gil in the system if the whole concern is about inflation.

didn't you just pump more gil into the economy?

Not exactly, since the 40M or however much he gets from a buyer was already in the economy to begin with. It only changes hands when he makes the sale.

If he sold it to an NPC for 40M or w/e then that gil would serve to inflate the economy.

Exactly

These reasons do technicly fit into the bounds of common sense definitively.

You expounded on what i was saying but i think we're both on the level here.

Bingo, this sorta stuff happens every day ... alot of it ends up on the FB but in this instance since it was a seller it hit good times and thanks to shaunessy got as close to a flame as it could before reason took over. He may very well go about it again, but at this point i doubt he'll be very effective having announced that he's not above it and how he went about it. Just my thoughts on that last part, i could be completely wrong but it just doesn't make sense to me to go from the robin hood-esque "i jacked a GS, look" to "I'ma try that scamming crap out again .. worked pretty well last time .. let's find an easy mark." Psychologically speaking there's a HUGE seperation there.

no, that's why i asked, "where the boundaries are going to be drawn". sure, it's a gilseller now. but, who else will be "legitimized" targets by the community?

Jesus christ, he stole from a fucking gilseller. You people bitch and complain about "zOMG gilsellers r cauzing teh inflation" but sev fucks them over and you think he's a bad person? Quit being such fucking carebears.

Pretty sure had this been anyone but a known GS this would've blown up in his face but your question is definately logical and i understand why you'd ask that not simply of this person but the community on large.

C* no, it's not. only thing stopping those with the mindset to kill another human being is generally either the fear of being caught, fear of being shamed, fear of going to jail, or the fear of being roasted on a metal chair.
Actualy, the deterance aspect of the criminal justice system isnt there at all, because it only applies IF caught, and the chances arent all that high. If someone wants to commit a crime, they're going to do it. The possibility of going to jail isnt a deterant unless you can prove 100% that if you commit one, you WILL go to prison/be punished.

you don't see us go assaulting people in jail and getting away with it.
"but they were bad and ruining our society"
"cops weren't giving enough punishment"
"since they are criminals, i can do bad things to them"
sounds familiar?

NPC syphon off gil .. aside from that yer spot on

Correction:
Buying from an NPC results in gil leaving the economy.

Selling to an NPC results in gil entering the economy.

Not only should the Cape be dropped but people who try to steal items from people (RMT or not) with these methods are sad poor saps that are contributing nothing to the game but lies and deceit (something RMT's aren't doing) which attribute to even more untrustworthy transactions for the future... go camp your own damn items you lazy shits.

Imagine that, I agree with Deci completely.

No matter whom you stole from, you stole for personal gain. And now you have 40M to go screw up our economy more.

i dont understand how thats going to screw up our economy... lol its not like more money is entering the economy from this transaction... the money on the server that will be used to buy the cape will merely be transfered to sev...

40M cannot even dent our Economy. 40M gil in the grand scheme of how much gil is already there is nothing. He is not screwing over anything. Why do people think he is. Think for once

Aside from the fact you misquoted me and then rambled on about something completely different i can completely dig what you're saying.... just like i told him and just like i agreed with you when saying "if this had been anyone but a GS people would be going ape."

Just because i find what he did humorous or somewhat justified doesn't mean i think it' was the right thing to do, there's an important distinction there.

Please provide references and what you interpret to be their conclusions (definitive or otherwise).

Much of scientific research goes against common sense. That's the point. If what we defined as common sense prevailed indefinitely, we'd still be burning witches at the stake and performing hysterectomies to cure women from psychological ailments. Not to mention telling adolescents that jerking off makes you blind, menstruating is a sin, and if a woman doesn't provide a son to her husband it's her fault.

In each case we have clear scientific evidence to the contrary. Each was once a widely held belief, i.e. "common sense". If we could just look at things and make judgments we wouldn't need to do science to begin with.

So, once again, show what science supports your claims.

Sorry for the hijack, if this continues I'll make a new FB thread^^

as i have stated, i didn't make it a point to commit to memory, the source of all the material that i have seen and read over the past few years. i do remember the basic point of the pieces and their conclusions. if you don't believe me that the materials i've come across are from reputable sources, fine. i'm not going to waste my time digging through the entire internet just so you can be satisfied in knowing where it came from.

masturbation/blindness..etc., these are things be answered with a definitive conclusion from scientific evidence. doing research and trying to reach a verdict over something like "do violent video games lead to violent behavior" isn't as clear cut as the examples of research you brought up. it's never going to be absolutely "conclusive", because it's just not cut and dry. so, from the information i read on what the research trials and results suggested, I made a decision about the issue. not all research is a "yes" or "no" thing...sometimes, it's just a collection of information that can only offer suggestions about what the answer is. for this type of research, it's up to us to analyze what the results were and use our own common sense and judgment to see where we stand....because, in these instances, that all you can really do.

The problem, choc, is that anyone can say i heard thusandsuch here and there but on the internet when spouting some random crap that's easily shot down it helps to provide a source that bolsters the facts you would like to represent. This sort of thing will be required of you here and there on the boards to have a debate or arguement about something or you lose by default as you can't site anything but heresay which like in court is inadmissable when speaking on anything but opinion. Right or wrong, them's the breaks.

i know what you're saying, but this isn't something like, "i read that 89.356% of the american population are fat, lazy, bastards" where a specific point of information is touted as fact. this is simply a statement about research that made a general claim...a claim involving an issue that was plastered all over the media (NBC, time, Primetime). most likely, this is where i probably got the info, since that and yahoo.news are my prime sources of getting news...i figured people on this board would have been exposed to that at some point in the last 7 years. one of the topics was over whether the movie matrix led to the shooting at columbine. like any news outlet, they try and take the neutral position and offer info from the pro and con camps. i'm not thinking NBC news or primetime would risk their integrity and quote research from "Bob's House of Pancakes and Scientific Research".

Ok now wait a sec and think about the issue you raised and then the audience you raised it to .. we're naturally going to want conclusive evidence instead of sensationalized news coverage which is what this issue arrose from. Regardless of the hype violence is human nature at all times and ages with or without violent media present, i don't need a dood at harvard to tell me that. The news outlets have no integrity when it comes to issues like this they just want to sell the current headline to bump ad prices up via ratings over some seriously tragic shit. Meanwhile most of the groups who do studies into this subject are biased and can't say anything definitively one way or the other even if they're not...

Meanwhile there are many behavioral diseases, and i use the term loosely, that have very definitive causes as well as documentation. Why's this one so hard to nail down?

Human nature is simply that, it requires no outside influences. On the contrary i would move that being able to take out my aggressions on a game keeps them under wraps irl. Why go to jail when i can just blow up some doods on yonder Xbox?
