For the most part, nerfs in general are a complete act of laziness on the part of any company. Instead of balancing the game by adding new content, new job abilities, and increasing the strength of other classes, they decide to weaken one job.

"But Songi, then it will be too easyorz."

So increase the difficulty of the monsters as well. Give them annoying special attacks, and give us abilities to deal with them.

It sucks that they can't come up with anything new, so they take away old.

Until SE raises the level cap and makes some new jobs I will never think of them as actually putting some good updates into FFXI.

Yeah, because new gear, new quests, new abilities/traits, new mobs/exp areas; none of that is good.

If that is what you like, then by all means you can be pleased with SE.

I'm more of a power gamer and skip things so prefer higher level caps and new classes/jobs in games.

We all have opinions, no need for you to be rude.

Yep, SE should have fixed the melee jobs instead of nerfing RNG. But they chose the easy way =/

Time will tell Seawolf... time will tell.

I could see them lowering BLM dmg in a future update and adding some melee abilities / traits.

/em sacrifices a lamb in prayer for Double Attack II.

In a pvp game like guild wars, one overpowered class has to be nerfed. However, pvp is less than 1% of ffxi. In that case they should have just boosted the other melees. Nerfing always causes bad feelings, especially when taken to such an extreme. You can always make things harder and stronger, so avoid nerfing. The melees are all happy, but sam, war, thf, and drk are still going to be last picked next to rng, blm, and mnk. Even if they nerf more, that is only going to hurt us more since the game isn't getting any easier. Begging for nerfs is digging your own grave.

I never viewed FFXI as a power gamer's game. Maybe I am just thinking of something different when you say that. I tend to see WoW, and other games that are more easily conquored in less time as a power gamer's game. How did you mean it?

I never said that I wouldn't like new jobs or anything, but they have given some good stuff so far. I'd rather have to wait a while for a well designed job than get a totally shit job every update. They have changed the level caps and added jobs in the past, no reason they won't do it in the future.

FFXI is easily power gamed. Please see Jhonnyb and Cerescole for just two of many examples.
