That's right! One more month until the Wii wreaks havoc in North America! And for once Nintendo has a pretty solid launch lineup of games. Not only that, but the memory card medium are Secure Digital cards. Just a heads up on memory cards, Staples has a deal going on with SD cards every week, normally 1GB for around $20-$35, sometimes with and sometimes without Easy Rebates. I wouldn't think you'd need to get SanDisk's Wii branded ones alone anyway. I can't fucking wait!

I've heard that there will be special looking cards for the Wii, so I'm going to wait and see how that turns out.
One month! Bring it on!

Yeah. I'm tempted to get one when I see a good deal while at work, but like I mentioned, SanDisk is making Wii labeled SD cards. Since they're SD, I'd assume that they'll be the same shape, but they may have some sort of extra programming on them to tell the Wii "Hey, save games specifically to me." I just don't want to pay out the wazoo for one when I get the system, to find out a normal one will work.

If Nintendo would release more information on compatibility for the SD cards. I'm really tempted to order a 4GB Ridata SD card but I fear it might not work right away. I'm more interested on the hardware side of things and how it works like USB ports etc.

I bought a 512 MB Wii memory card when I preordered my system, I really can't see needing a full gig unless they're going to be hugely wasteful with the save data size.

They haven't said much on the Virtual Console size, I'd assume the VC game data would be small and saved onto SD. Aside from saves etc., Nintendo meant it also as a digital photo reader/movie files from the digi cam for the average person as well so i'm assuming to avoid any problems they would support 4GB+ SD cards if people used those sizes in their Digi Cams.

I also heard something about USB flash drives for storage too, since it has USB ports. Not sure how true that is though. I'm thinking of going for a 1GB card for the system. I got the big memory card for the GCN when I bought my system, and it's still not full, even with an extra Animal Crossing town and everything. Well worth the extra bit of money.

Don't know about the memory card, but I do know that i get 10% off on anything and everything at Zellers! No tax on the Wii! :D

O__O This is going to be bigger than the November elections lmao.
Hells yes I'm going to reserve/buy/kill for one/camp this bad boy.

only gme i'd get for wii is smash which is supposed to come out next year? Unless there's a major difficulty change in zelda... i can't see myself buying a Wii at launch.

no need, they are shipping 4 million units. That's like 10x as many as PS3.
I think I remember they sold out already on preorders.

Yes Nintendo is planning to ship 4 Million units worldwide (Japan, Europe, North America) by the end of 2006. Planned is 1 Million at launch for North America (US and Canada). With 1 Million left to be trickled down (divided up amonth the other countries) shipments till the Holiday Seasons.

14 Million people watched Heroes on it's debut in the US. 1 Million shipments seems like it's nothing compared to those numbers. Now imagine Nintendo starts advertising ;x . The 1 Million units are divided up between US and Canada, so let's say Canada has population of battalion of mooses and get's 300,000+/- Wii's. That would leave 700,000+/- for the US at launch I guess?

In store Pre-orders are sold out from Gamestop/ebgames and Nintendo World Store. Nintendo hasn't even started putting advertisements on TV yet and in store pre-orders are sold out. If Wii becomes a hot item this Christmas season chances are it can be sold out. Of course not saying that you won't get one but anything can happen.

*Edit* Bolded the 1 Million, Also the numbers are taken from the Nintendo Press Conference held in Sept. 2006. Official words and not some analysts that don't work for Nintendo.

Good thing I've got some friends at a local game store. =)

I'll be playing with my Wii on Nov19th.... and maybe tonight as well.

You guys are talking that US and Canada are the only ones in North America. Don't forget the Mexicanoos!

Last night's South Park made me think about this thread. We should ALL freeze ourselves!

And then wake up in an athiest future where sea otters are highly intelligent, and the Halo Needler makes people heads explode?!? Remember, they had no video games in that future, no thanks, I can wait, LOL.

Was an excellent episode though, didn't need to see Ms. Garrison's boobs though...eugh...
