One of FFXI's Last Mysteries

Pretty huge to me then, lol. I think next time I bother to log on I'm gonna hunt them for sport.

i've seen the sharks and fish off the coasts in valkurm dunes and buburimu peninsula. as a tarutaru, you get a good up-close-and-personal view while drowning.

as a PS2 player I've gotten a good up-close-and-personal view too :P

Spoiler:

Bitmap cause i'm too lazy to convert it

Ive seen a bunch of random things in the water. Its crazy how much they actually put into the small stuff that no one notices.

That's what separates some MMOs from others. The only other one I've seen that kinda detail on is Guild Wars. It just adds to the experience for me.

Come to think of it, GW has landmarks (natural or man/beast/etc-made) that serve no other purpose aside from being...landmarks. They're really quite cool, and lots of people (myself included) spend a lot of time looking for them ^^

Used for skilling up I beleive.
As neisan already said, they're useless for skilling up. Spelunker's hat would only be good for defensive skills, and there's better hats for all of those anyways.

They're useless items, one of which is incredibly rare.

If I recall correctly, Spelunker's hat was a joke put into the game. Check wiki, it has some story about why the creaters put it into the game.

It was put there as a joke because of the entire "OMG how did you get Refresh?" common answer: "I got it from a Taisai".

If I recall correctly, you can trade a B=Veydal Wrasse (fish) to the NPC apkullas in mount zhayolm, and they'll follow you around for a bit...

Dunno, I've been intending to test it, I'll get around to it...

I'm always hoping the ??? headgear from Taisaijin will turn into a spelunker's hat in Nyzul Isle.
My one of my ultimate goals before I quit the game is being hypergimp for day, with stumbling sandals, spelunker's hat, and a couple of malrings.

That's fine, but then the cards could just be for consistency. 5 cardians drop cards that you need, and it'd be very odd if they were the only ones to drop anything.

I always assumed it had something to do with Tetramaster... I don't know, and I really could care less how they work or why they work or what they do. Inconsequential to me.

Black Triple Stars.

Killing this NM is required to complete the quest The Miraculous Dale.

I know the quest was recently added, but hey it has a use now :P

BLM AF Quest: Pops a light elemental NM

dark elemental

/end nitpick

sorry man lol

about CN I never knew they existed much less ceilings, I thought that was just a shadow effect as well, but then again when your graphics are like mine in dark places you can't really tell much detail

YES :D

Cactuar needles
Nidhogg Scales
I'm pretty sure its been said Nidhogg Scales are used to synth Dragon Scale +1 with higher success rate.

According to FFXIAH... if you use Nidhogg instead of Dragon scales, you can only get Dragon Scale +1.

But the internet has been known to lie before...

My Nyzul static got one a few weeks back. We rarely get the ??? item to appraise to the actual item, so it was quite funny when we got a Speluners hat.

Don't correct me bitch....

my fault there, I was thinking he was talking about the toraiming canal af hat for blm which is magic sludge.
