Cardians...
Specificly the rogue variety. Yeah you remember those guys? There's 40 of 'em, and they all pop in one palce, Outer Horototo Ruins. Specificly in a spot you'll most likely ever go to like, twice, in the whole game, if your windurstian. (There's a spot you go there for to do a mission or two, correct?)
Anywho, these guys aren't even the real mystery. It's their drops. Each one belongs to one of 4 suits, and make up a deck of 52. Just like a real deck!
Now here's the thing, only, like, 5 or so of these 52 cards have a use in a quest. Thats right, there's like a set of 48 items that we have yet to figure out the use for.
There was a myth that holding the card of a cardian prevented aggro, this has been disproven.
So wtf are these things for? Hell, up until two eyars ago, they had an ENTIRE section of the AH to themselves, Misc>Cards.
I'm wondering if the JPs know something we dont, cause looking at the price history, there were an awful lot of JPs buying the cards, especially the higher tier ones, for ridiculous amounts of gil, the kings and queens went for over 100K once upon a time. wtf?
Think about it, why on earth would SE spend the huge amount of time to design 40 mobs in an area, and draw up 52 items, write the scripting for them, and set the drop rate, paths, everything involved with adding the drops and mobs to the area, for these things to have no purpose?
I've noticed a few things with cardians, first off, there are 4 decks of cardians, just like the rogues, in windurst. not only that, from what I've seen, the 4 areas each have a corresponding suit, IE all the cardians in port windurst are the same suit!
Also, it seems that the entire suit is sparsed around its area, so, though I still need to check over and make sure, there appears to be an entire deck of 52 cardians or so, in windurst! Just like in horototo ruins (minus the kings and queens, thats a BCNM)
huh. Thats interesting. I'm going to start experimenting with these cards, my first goal is to get a complete set of suits 2 through 4, maybe 5.
If anyone wants to help, pelase post your theories and feel free to pitch in your help, I'm really curious about these cards.
