One of the best articles I've read? Perhaps!!

I think she was critiquing the game, not your reason for liking it. Could be just me though.

Name for me some console MMORPGs. I can name 2. Phantasy Star Online (I, II, III-card rev. *sigh*), and then theres Final Fantasy XI Online, which ofcourse was released on the PC first.. and probably should have stayed there.

I guess you forgot the part where FFXI was a PS2 title in Japan FIRST, and THEN was ported to PC.

PlayOnline History from POL Viewer said:
May 16, 2002: Final Fantasy XI for PlayStation 2 is released. PlayOnline service goes live. The PlayOnline Viewer and Final Fantasy XI are sold as a two-disc set.

November 7, 2002: Final Fantasy XI for Windows is released, marking the start of the PlayOnline service for Windows.

FFXI is a CONSOLE MMORPG. Not a PC.

FFXI runs twice as good on my PC than it does on my PS2. I can't _stand_ the idea of online games on a console. I don't think that you're stupid for liking it Cubswoo, but, it doesn't work for me. Therefore, the hype about "online capabilities" doesn't apply to _me_. FPS? Garbage to me. I can't stand those games. Really I have nothing against people who play them, but they don't sell to me. Sports games? In the same catagory as FPS. No interest.

I started out playing EQ, and I'm just comfortable with MMORPG's being on the PC. I can understand playing games where you don't need a lot of chatting to get things across, but those are not the type of MMO's I'd like to play.

I am just, more or less irritated by the fact that "everyone" thinks Online play makes or breaks a console. Online capabilities on a console don't effect me at all, because I have no interest in it. I know I'm not the only one out there. Sure, most people like it, but most people are idiots in my opinion.

Oh, and as for paying 50 dollars for boobies...

I bought Rumble Roses, that was 40 dollars for boobies.

And what a good buy it was. XD

Summer Heat Volleyball = THE Boobie Game!

 I have not played either of them. OK I AM OFF TO BESTBUY!

You would be correct

Oh and Cubs, with you buying a silly PS2 hard drive for FFXI, I don't want to hear you bitch about stuff like the Gameboy pocket, Supe rscope, etc. FFXI hard drive is pretty much for one game.

But! You can play Resident Evil Outbreak if you have the PS2 hard drive! *Coughs, sputters, laughs tush off*

Sorry...I heard so many bad things about that game >_<

And Pascal, Rumble Roses is totally worth 40 dollars. Rent it if you don't believe me. It's so...FUNNY....in it's perversity. Plus the soundtrack roxors my boxors.

When XI first came out on the PC, it wouldn't run on my laptop - wrong kind of graphics accelerator. Buying it for the PS2 was my only choice.

It cost me $140 to get XI, the HD (which should I stop playing XI on will become my HDLoader drive), a USB keyboard, and the network adapter. And it works with the entire 2k5 Sega series to speed load times and show full replays instead of 2 second clips. Not a real make-or-break thing, by any means, but it's something. I used my Super Scope for... playing soldier.

In July, my girlfriend and I were given a new PC to replace the fried power supply and hard drive on the laptop. One of the first things we did was consider getting a second copy so we could play simultaneously. To get XI to work on my PC took the game ($50), a router to let me play on PC and PS2 simultaneously ($20), a new Nvidia graphics card ($110), and a USB gamepad so my girlfriend can play with the PS2 control scheme she enjoys ($20.)

Total cost for PS2 XI: $140
Total cost for PC XI: $200

And I still much prefer playing on my PS2. And it's not that the game runs poorly on PC - my Vana'diel Bench numbers were fairly high up there. Mostly, it's a matter of comfort and a matter of convienence - I like having Somepage, Alla and Mysterytour a click away instead of an alt-tab or a XI Windower.

I thought I'd throw in this VGCats comic strip into the discussion.

Anyways, out of the three last-gen consoles, I prefer the PS2. Yah, it lacks powerful hardware and first-party support, but you sometimes find rare gems on that console, like Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, Katamari Damaci, Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank, and my all-time favorite, Dark Cloud 2.

I still love my GBA SP most though. Nothing better to get through those long hours of fishing in FFXI.

Cubs, you can't count the router as part of the PC's cost since you bought it so one could play on PC, and the other on PS2. Plus, the control pad also doesn't really matter. You got ripped off for $20. USB -> PS2 adapters are usually $10.

Also, to prove how much the PS2's DVD player sucks ass, I was trying to watch Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets last night, it skipped the first 15 seconds of the movie when I selected Play on the main menu, and it skipped about another 15 about a half minute later. Then, half-way through the movie, it just stopped. I took it out, cleaned all the smudges and everything, and it still did the same thing. Yes, there are a few scratches, but not any big enough to make it to do that.
