I want to play this game for the PS2 but my system no longer playes blue discs? Is the FFXI disc for PS2 a blue disc?

I don't think any of the instalation discs are blue discs, and the game itself is run off of a hard drive that you put in your PS2.

You shouldn't have a problem with it.

Really? I hope you are right. I really dont feel like buying a new PS2 >.<; So you dont need a disc in the PS2 while playing the game?
 
Nope. The game comes with a hard drive that you install in your PS2 (you will have to buy a new PS2 if you have one of the newer thin ones, i think). The only discs you actually put in the PS2 are to install the game and install the expansions.
 
The original FFXI discs, as well as the expansions, are all silverback. If you ever have to reinstall, you'll be fine. Come to think of it, I haven't seen a blueback disc in a long time.
 
Most of the first wave of games for the PS2 were blue backed. I still have my copy of NBA: Street lol.
 
i would get an xbox360 and play it. it looks much much much much better than PS2. i mean really! i does! ><!
