One reported dead, several injured in Virginia Tech shootings

Or because they are crazy. I mean manhunt nearly got banned here after some idiot with mental issues went and acted it out on a classmate. Beat him to death with a hammer and tortured him and shit.

Well, that would be mostly because of the person's upbringing. Kid probably got beaten a lot or buttfucked as a kid.

Ron Paul had an interesting article this week.

(Ron Paul is a congressman for the 14th district of Texas and is running for president. He writes an article every week.)

Security and Liberty

April 23, 2007

The senseless and horrific killings last week on the campus of Virginia Tech University reinforced an uneasy feeling many Americans experienced after September 11th: namely, that government cannot protect us. No matter how many laws we pass, no matter how many police or federal agents we put on the streets, a determined individual or group still can cause great harm. Perhaps the only good that can come from these terrible killings is a reinforced understanding that we as individuals are responsible for our safety and the safety of our families.

Although Virginia does allow individuals to carry concealed weapons if they first obtain a permit, college campuses within the state are specifically exempted. Virginia Tech, like all Virginia colleges, is therefore a gun-free zone, at least for private individuals. And as we witnessed, it didn’t matter how many guns the police had. Only private individuals on the scene could have prevented or lessened this tragedy. Prohibiting guns on campus made the Virginia Tech students less safe, not more.

The Virginia Tech tragedy may not lead directly to more gun control, but I fear it will lead to more people control. Thanks to our media and many government officials, Americans have become conditioned to view the state as our protector and the solution to every problem. Whenever something terrible happens, especially when it becomes a national news story, people reflexively demand that government do something. This impulse almost always leads to bad laws and the loss of liberty. It is completely at odds with the best American traditions of self-reliance and rugged individualism.

Do we really want to live in a world of police checkpoints, surveillance cameras, and metal detectors? Do we really believe government can provide total security? Do we want to involuntarily commit every disaffected, disturbed, or alienated person who fantasizes about violence? Or can we accept that liberty is more important than the illusion of state-provided security?

I fear that Congress will use this terrible event to push for more government mandated mental health programs. The therapeutic nanny state only encourages individuals to view themselves as victims, and reject personal responsibility for their actions. Certainly there are legitimate organic mental illnesses, but it is the role of doctors and families, not the government, to diagnose and treat such illnesses.

Freedom is not defined by safety. Freedom is defined by the ability of citizens to live without government interference. Government cannot create a world without risks, nor would we really wish to live in such a fictional place. Only a totalitarian society would even claim absolute safety as a worthy ideal, because it would require total state control over its citizens’ lives. Liberty has meaning only if we still believe in it when terrible things happen and a false government security blanket beckons.

But saying peoples' personal beliefs, which include all life being precious is horseshit, is much more of a better thing to say, whatever.

You don't have to feel bad for someone just because they died, you can feel bad for someone because their life got to the point where they felt they had to do something like this. That now it appears that there were so many signs that people missed. That someone is now feeling the lose of a family member.

People who commit these type of acts do so because something has gone wrong in them where life is NO LONGER precious to them. The ordinary person does not kill someone. So whether something goes wrong for a moment and you kill someone, or whether something goes wrong until it is remedied by some type of help, something went wrong, and you can feel bad that someone's life got to that state.

Yes I get it...And then he killed 32 people.
Something didn't go wrong. The fucking kid went wrong. He fucked up big time.
One of the things every person should do in life is to work on becoming a stronger person and one that is equipped to handle life. He didn't own that responsibility. If I told you everything I've been through personally in the past 5 years, you'll see where I am coming from.

There's plenty of people out there that I'm sure have it worse than this little emo shit did, and some of them even manage a smile. The kid got a bad run of luck and the g/f was the straw the broke his back...So fucking what? Ya don't even need to hear his life story, because it CANNOT validate his actions at all. Let's go an feel bad for the guy that murdered 32 people. lol. That makes all kinds of sense.

Well the manhunt kid had a nice sterotypcial family for the most part. Like i said he just had mental issues and for some reason thought it would be a great idea to copy manhunt. I think he also stole £20 and a mobile phone from the kid...profit!

You can be crazy without buttrape and beatings y'know.

Yet there are reports that his parents run a laundry mat and are friendly people. You fail. Watch his manifesto his attacks were never because of shitty parents.

Friendly people abuse their kids too. Not saying these folks did, but anyone with a bit of charisma can put on a mask and lie through their teeth saying they didn't do what they actually did but can't be proven.

I know some people like that. =(
