I am fairly pissed off at Sony at the moment. My original launch PS3 worked absolutely fine, never froze, never had any technical glitches, until GTA4 came out. For some reason it froze every few minutes, making GTA4 utterly unplayable. So I looked into it, and found out it was a widespread enough problem. I found out it affected the very original 60 gig batch and there was NOT going to be any patch to fix it. I called up and asked, and was told I'd have to send it in and get a replacement. It was however, covered for free, past warranty, because it was recognized as an internal error on Sony's side.
So they sent me a new PS3, I gave them my old one. The new one was obviously used, as it had some scratches on the case. It was a 60 gig though, which was what's most important. Because my old one had still worked fine, I was able to get all my save files off as well.
Well now about 6 months later, the replacement broke. They obviously gave me a shitty refurb, and what kills me is there's only a 3 month warranty on the fixed units. So while my original would no doubt still be running absolutely fine, me, cause I got the GTA4 bug, am instead going to be cycled through these fucking 60 gig refurbs. Unlike a newer model, I damn sure am not going to be getting a brand new replacement, because they don't make 60 gigs anymore. Which means I have to pay $150 to get a replacement, in order to get another refurb unit that could break on me at any time, and is only covered 3 months.
Now I don't really care about what company I'm dealing with, it's not about loyalty to me. It's about hardware, games and service. They've got great hardware and games, but this service is unacceptable. If they think $150 is worth pissing me off, they got another thing coming. They'll lose far more in revenue when I stop buying new games, sell off my old ones, and gameshare for all the PSN games. When blu-rays get cracked, I will torrent them all.
Just remember all, companies only screw the consumer over because they think the consumer will bend over, take it and continue giving them money if there's no better alternative. So if you get screwed over, by Sony, MS or Nintendo... it doesn't matter if you love their games and service, don't just take it... ALWAYS find a way to make it hurt THEM more than YOU.
