You all can flame as much as you want on this topic, i wanna know their suggestions and thoughts on this issue which everyone talks about these days.

Ok This is an opinion thread to see where do the gil farmers originaly come from since SE won’t do shit about them, I decided to post where I think they came from.

The folling is an insert from the FFXI site under service and support;
https://secure.playonline.com/supportus/index03.html

You may not use the Game or PlayOnline for any activities that are illegal, fraudulent, or a violation of the rights of any third party. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the following acts and activities are strictly prohibited and shall, without prejudice to any other rights or remedies that SEI may have, be cause for immediate termination of your PlayOnline account and your right to play the Game (or any other services) in connection therewith:

(a)Any activities consisting of selling, purchasing or exchanging “gil” or any other currency that may be used in the Game from time to time, characters, and/or Game items for value (including, but not limited to, any payment in kind and any payment in any currency recognized as legal tender in any country, state, territory or other jurisdiction anywhere in the world) through any means or venue, including, without limitation, Internet auctions or other online exchanges

According to the agreement level as stated above, NO one is suppose to sell or buy gil right? BUT it does not mean ppl can’t do it and since SE doesn’t give shit about them, the only explaination I can think of is that SE hired them to make our lives hell in-game. Yes, that right, “SE Hired them”. Reasons is simple, we play the game, we pay rentals for game usage but SE may think that’s not enough, they want more money outta us so they hire gil farmers and farm the gil from inside the game and make a sister company ige.com to sell the gil and make more money outta it. Hence as you can see whatever mails we send to SE doesn’t get any action taken cause it’s their own doing. Another reason is that by doing this we (the users) will have to stay longer in-game to get more gil thus paying more rentals and staying in the game longer than we want to as our goals have not yet been fulfiled.

Whether the rights are violated or not they don't give damn about it. I think i made a pretty clear assumption of what is going on these days.

sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory to me. I'm no lawyer but I'm pretty sure that if they got caught doing that or if IGE was giving them money for it, they could get into some kind of trouble. There's an average of 3000 players logged on at any given time so:

3000
x 13
39000

So just from having one server up that's $39000 they get just from the average players. I have no clue how many actual accounts they're billing for but i'm guessing that it's easily 3 or 4 times higher than are online at any given time.

So...

$100,000+ a month
x However many servers
Healthy chunk o' change.

Doubt they'd need to make any more money from gil sellers. The people who sell gil would probably make a fraction of what SE makes in a month. The gil sellers have to buy thier gil from people who farm it, then hope someone comes along and buys their gil. Most people who play this are still living with their parents or in college so i'm sure that their gil purchases don't happen all that often.

and feel free to correct my math. I just assumed stuff off the top of my head so if anyone has some actual numbers that would be cool to know ^^

Hey im sorry but im pretty sure SE wouldnt hire and its just fat a?? at home living with his moma.

The thing is hell SE could probely just make free gil with all they get from NPCs AH etc. so im pretty sure they wouldnt hire people to make are lifes hell. But the evil SE well thats a different story ;).

hehe how many ppl DON'T buy their gil lol

Show of hands? (^.^)/

Well, greed honestly knows no bounds. I have always thought the same thing Teng. That they are not doing anything for multiple reasons...Every gil seller account is worth money. So ok...You are talking 6 gil sellers MINIMUM per server, times 13 bucks a month, multiplied by the number of servers. Anyone know the exact number of servers? Either way, that's a lot of money, whether you think it or not. And if they are being cut in on the profits made from people buying gil, then that's even more money. They have NO reason to stop it. Reason being...Despite how many people get pissed, no one does anything about it. In other words, quit...

If mass players quit because of the sellers, THEN something would be done. But until that happens(And it never will), we gotta deal with it. ; ;

IF SE isn't with ige.com then SE has every reason to sue ige.com for selling gil, they violated the agreement stated in mt 1st post already and you can't say they aren't. How else can ige.com get gil. Please don't tell me someone is so smart to make a program that can make FFXI Gil, that's not possible hence teh gil they have on ige.com are all bought and they are selling them hence SE has every right to sue them off but they aren't. That's what made me took the assumption SE is supporting ige.com

First off, it is ABSOLUTELY INSANE to think that SE and IGE are the same company. Why in the sam hell would SE take the time and pay the money for people to harvest gil, when they can do it en masse in seconds?

Secondly, the problem with suing IGE for the breech of the agreement would be the fact that they have NEVER entered into the agreement. You have entered into the agreement. I have entered into the agreement. The gil harvesters have entered into the agreement and anyone else who plays the game. IGE has not. The only way to catch them would be to PROVE that someone in game is a direct employee of IGE (good luck). To analogize it, let's put it this way:
I own a hot dog shop, I hire an employee and have him sign an agreement saying that he will not buy, sell, or eat pizza. He then goes to pizza hut for dinner. The EMPLOYEE broke the agreement, Pizza Hut did not and I can take no legal action on them.

If you want to hypothesize on a conspiracy theory, say something like "IGE gives SE kickbacks so they dont bother the farmers."

Well, regarding the maths, on the playonline site, they are now announcing that the have breached the 1,500,000 characteres created.

Suppose an account consist, on average, of a main and one mule. That means there would have 750 000 registered users:

$13,00 x 750 000= $9 750 000 (Main character)
$3,00 x 750 000 = $2 250 000 (Mule, might have the fee wrong)

Total = $ 12 000 000 / month in registration fees.

I don't think SE needs the money that re-selling gils would provide them with, to big of a risk for little money compared to what they are making now.

Ya, i would totally agree on that as well since nothing is still being done about them.

I've thought this for a while...but you have to remember there is more than just IGE out there. So if SE were infact getting kickbacks from gil sellers, they'd be making a ton of cash outside of just subscription fees.

here's the fun thing, use IGE's quote feature for selling gil . . .

200,000 gil isn't worth $8 US . . . now say you make 200k an hour . . . that's the same as working a higher paying retail job . . . so yeah . . . do you really think it's worth the hassle??
