I didn't get the 32x's and VirtualBoy's until a few years after they were abandoned. Electronic's Boutique was selling the VirtualBoy's for $20 each, so I grabbed a couple. Toys 'r Us was selling the 32x's for $15 each, so I got two of those, too.
As for the DDR machine, I actually bought that back in 2001 and only paid $2000 *shipped* for it. I bought it from some place in Korea that had a warehouse full of 3rd Mix machines and was trying to get rid of them. So I wired $2000 over to them and they shipped it by boat over to California, then it road a train to Houston, then was delivered to my house via truck. It took about a month for it to get here after I paid for it. It was DDR 3rd Mix Korean v2, so it had about 10 or so extra Korean songs not on the Japanese version of the game, plus all of the songs from the Japanese version except two: Follow the Sun and If You Were Here With Me. There might be one more song, but I can't remember which. Anyhow, I ended up selling it a year or so later because I didn't have anywhere to put it. It literally sat outside under the carport at my house the entire time. When it rained, I'd just cover it up with blankets and all was good. I sold it to an arcade for $2500, so I actually made some money off of it.
I probably would have kept it if I could have found some cheap upgrade kits. Most places at the time were charing $1000 for DDR upgrade kits, but like 2 months after I sold it, I found a place selling them for like $300. Believe it or not, though, owning your own DDR machine kind of takes the magic away from playing at the arcade.
If you're wanting to buy a DDR machine, if you know where to look, you can get them for pretty cheap. People expecting to sell their machines on ebay for the $7000 they paid for them several years ago are in for a surprise.
I've also owned many things that I never took pictures of. At one point I've owned almost every type of Neo Geo: Neo Geo CD, Neo Geo AES (home cartridge), Neo Geo MVS arcade boards (1 slot large, 1 slot small, 2 slot, 6 slot), several games for all the Neo Geo systems. For anyone that cares, the Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 and Metal Slug 2 roms that are circulating the net that you play in MAME or other Neo Geo emulators were dumped off my cartdiges. I've also got a Street Fighter II: Champion Edition arcade cabinet sitting behind me. I have SF2CE, but currently Mortal Kombat 2 is in it. Other arcade boards I have owned at one point: Killer Instinct, Rolling Thunder, Contra, Haunted Castle, TMNT. I've also got about 30 SNES carts that aren't pictured.
