That blows, but you knew it was coming. Things won't turn around until more good games are put out.
By the time Sony gets some good games, Halo 3 will be out and the 360 will get a price cut. Not looking good for PS3 imo.
According to the article, they only 596 million in profits over the last fiscal year, dropping down 1.28 billion from last year's reports, I don't see where you're getting 128 billion from unless you're looking to yen. Hell, one of the VP's(on the Yahoo news article I read) said that the PS3 is one of the big reasons for this loss.So. Sony pulls in 128b less profits than last year, and despite the fact that only 2b of that is from the gaming department, its all blamed on the PS3.
The loss is due to that laptop recall early in the quarter, in addition to poor laptop sales after. The PS3 isnt even 10% of that.
Just like M$ makes all of its money off windows and the like, and says to hell with the Xbox cost, so too does sony to an extent.
No the drop in profit's isn't solely due to the PS3, but a good chunk of it was.
Marajade said:The development costs of the last 3 years for the PS3 were not included in the gaming division before, and were now tacked on for this year.
That's how you keep investors money to remain in your stocks. Hell, since the stocks dropped from this report I bought stock in sony. XD Now's the time to buy, after all. It's guarunteed to go back up.

"In the Game segment, there was a significant operating loss as a result of the sale of PS3 at strategic price points lower than its production cost during the introductory period," said the company in its annual report.

If you're going to dumb it down like that, do you want to go ahead and define "significant?" God, you have a hard time thinking your arguments through. Go to somewhere like Alla where you might not look stupid. 5% is a significant percentage, doofus.
I think it'll be ok. It had a rocky start because of the price and the less-than-stellar list of games, but I think in time everythign will be fine for Sony.
You're forgetting PS3 is losing exclusives.
