Outpost and Homing Ring

Ok, how do these rings work?

Tonight, my homepoint was in Valkurm to level thief, so I went to Windy, got the supply quest, and decided to test these rings.

I had thought one warped you to an outpost, and the other from an outpost back to home city.

I used a warp scroll I had lying around to get to Valkurm, completed the supplies quest, and tried my outpost ring. I wound up at the Valkurm outpost again (no choice of where to warp to or anything).

I ran a bit away again, and used homing ring. I wound up at the Valkurm outpost again (no choice of where to warp to or anything).

What happened to me? How can I make these useful?

I have done Saruta outpost quest as well; I thought I should at least be able to get there. What's going on?
 
Homing ring takes you to the outpost for that region (if you control it maybe?). Only way to warp to your own nation is speaking with the vendor at the outpost after having done a supply quest there once.
 
Yeah it only brings you to the outpost of the region you are currently in, and only if your country controls region.
 
Those war warlocks ripped me off, it seems. I'm tossing one of these damn rings for inv space . . .

And darn all those ignorant players who run around wearing both of them, making me think they're different and useful!
 
They are useful.....if your nation controls Zulkiem, get a tele-holla, use ring, O.Warp to home nation. Much faster than taking an airship.
 
They're extremely usefull if you have alot of outpost teleports unlocked. With a homing ring and a couple of outpost teles you can go from any zone your nation controls to usually within 1 zone of pretty much anywhere in the game.

Yeah, I love Outpost warps, I mainly keep my HP set to Port Windy since that's my home nation, yet I still have some more regions to do supply runs to but Windy have to take control of regions right next to Sandy and Bastok still ; ;
 
You missed out, Chrono? I love outposting to Ronfaure whenever I need to go to Sandy. I never use the Gustaberg one because it's a crap location. Outposts are the only way I travel, so I keep my HP in Port Windy as well.
 
Neyla got me hooked on them as we'll lol. I've got all of them except sandy and asstok as well. I never have to go to those zones though so its ok ^^ that's what my city mules are for lol.

If you arnt from basstok and you've done a few outpost it comes in handy. Remember this you can't usually outpost to or from one untill your the designated lvl or higher. Which means you can't use dunes untill 20 or something but you can always use the rings. Like say your going to valley of sorrows and you zone into kuftal and your nation controls the regin but you can't outpost at 58. You use your ring and your already through kuftal tunnel that saves time and money if you need to use oils the get through.
