I am hoping that some people have beat 6-5 with pld being main tank. I have passed this mission, but my friend has been getting the crap end of the stick when it comes to this mission because his static <he has had a few> wants nin over pld. They have even "suggested" pld be sub healer. Not even engaging Omega and Ultima because they do not want the Ninja to lose hate. When I did this fight x.x <1/6 tries before win> we tried with Pld, then with Nin. Both seemed to do the same.
Anyway i was hoping people who have won with paladin tanks could post the set up they won with, supplies, and any other data or suggestions that might help this guy's Static beat 6-5 CoP with out having to gimp themselves by trying to carry the pld through (lolsubhealer).

P.S. they will only take him as pld on this run even though he has drk and whm lved high enough. If i remember right they had whm, pld, nin, 2 war/nin, and a sam as 1 possiblity. I took a drk on my static's run and they did 1k+ on every WS. Almost 2k on mamments. This was with a nin main tank.

We used a PLD tank, get evasion gear, bat earrings, blind pots for them and tank them that way. They have bad accuracy as it is, eva gear just makes it so much worse.

What Galaika said.
PLD in full eva gear.
Hi-pots, vile elixir.
Mages : hi-ethers, muslums, vile elixir.

Everyone : CCB Polymer.

I've done it with PLD THF MNK BLM WHM RDM.

If i remember right they had whm, pld, nin, 2 war/nin, and a sam as 1 possiblity.
They are gonna get raped if they have a pld tank that, 1 whm won't be able to keep up with a pld and 4 melee against ultima/omega. Pld backup heal is probably the best thing they can try if the melee can't come as mages.

When I went through the 2nd time we did pld, whm, rdm, blmx3 and didn't have much trouble.

This is the strat I used for my LS static, before the updates which reduced CoP mission difficulty.

Strategy for Mammets:

Team Kakashi:
Torm: PLD/WAR
Fleist: RNG/NIN
Worm: DRK/NIN
Chaoshao: BLM/WHM
Dor: WHM/SMN
Darchon: RDM/BLM

==========Top of Airship==========
------X1------X2------X3------X4------X5------

============[Worm]===========

Dor.................................................Darchon
Fleist..............................................Chaoshao

<--------------Torm Kite Path---------------->
========Party Spawn Point=========

Torm Kite at PT spawn point with Dor on west side of BC curing torm as he comes back.

X1 = Tormknight Flash
X2 = Tormknight Voke
X3 = Fleist Shadowbind, Torm voke X3 after voke timer is reset
X4 = Darchon Bind + Silence
X5 = Wormpip Stun, WS | Fleist Sidewinder ---> Barrage ---> Sidewinder | Chaoshao = Thunder

Darchon Silence:
X4 > X3 >

Chaoshao Silence:
X5 > X4

Dor Silence:
X2 > X1

Kill Order:
X5
X3 (Darchon keep this bound after Shadowbind wears off)
X4 (Darchon keep this bound)
X1 / X2

Use the Yellow liquid when u see a PLM.

Strategy for Omega/Ultima:

==========Top of Airship==========
-------------Omega Spawn Point---------------

[Fleist][Chao]..................................[Worm]
[Dor][Darchon]------------------------- [Torm]
========Party Spawn Point=========

1. Stun order = Alpha sequence [Chaoshao > Worm] on all big spells done by the NMs. Setup your /party macros.

2. CCB polymer used on Omega & Ultima @ 50% > 30% > 10%

Omega: Torm > Chaoshao > Darchon
Ultima: Dor > Fleist > Worm

3. At 10%, Fleist will 2 hour on Omega.

4. At 30%, Chaoshao and Torm will 2 hour on Ultima. Dor will keep benediction for the last fight.

5. We should have 3 Polymers left for Ultima.

Last but not least, if we die, we die where Torm tanks, at the original spawn point we entered the BC.

You're probably going to want 2 if not 3 backline jobs as it is. PLD tank is fine in and of itself (wear evasion gear, bring hi-pots, pop Sentinel for mini-invinc if you get relatively low) but the rest of your setup is a little melee-heavy and mage-light. This BC is more about pacing and outlasting, not about zerging.

It would help if you could give us the 60+ job options for all the static members.

My CoP static just finished this with a PLD tank (and he didn't wear any EVA gear, he was entirely geared in regular tanking gear)

Here's a breakdown of our fight went and hopefully this will help you out:
Our setup: WAR/NIN, MNK/NIN, BLM/WHM, WHM/BLM, SMN/WHM, PLD/WAR.

Mammets: PLD ran in and grabbed aggro and took the mammets to the end of the ship and stood there only curing himself. He didn't do any move that would get him hate, which allowed our WHM to cure him non-stop. He used Terra's Staff to take the brunt of the DMG.

The MNK chi-blasted one of the mammets one at a time, and took it to the end where the mages were (but out of range so they wouldn't get hit with magic) and myself WAR and the MNK beat them down one by one with the help of the BLM. The SMN just helped heal the PLD.

**Remember do not rest during battle otherwise you will get hate from the mammets surrounding the PLD.

Omega: PLD went in and got initial hate and the WAR and MNK followed. WAR and MNK went on its side to avoid the cone shaped AoE moves. We did skillchains when available, which the BLM would MB on. The SMN had an avatar out and used offensive BPs.
When Omega was down to about 50%, we had 3 of our members use a CCB Polymer (1 minute apart). The WAR and MNK used an Icarus wing to get 100% at this point as well, and because I (the WAR) used my 2hr just before I managed to put quite a dent into his HP with our skillchain.

Ultima: Pretty much the same thing as Omega. PLD went in and got hate, WAR, MNK, BLM and SMN dealt damage and used skillchains when tp was available. When Ultima got to about 50%, we let loose: PLD invicibled, MNK hundred-fisted, BLM manafonted and SMN astral flowed = Ultima overkill. Oh, and we also had 3 people use CCB Polymers once Ultima hit 50%, each using theirs a minute apart.

One suggestion I might make which worked in our favor, is to obtain a sword (I forget the name of it) which has a paralyze effect. Because we didn't have an enfeebler really, our PLD decided to get a high damage dealing sword that could also paralyze the enemey which worked frequently and helped us a lot.

Good luck on your fight! Hope it doesn't take you more than 6 hrs to get done like mine did (but then again we had to wait around for our 2hrs to be up)

I think my static did that mission with PLD, RNG, WAR, WHM, RDM, BLM. I was the PLD; I just wore standard tanking gear(no +EVA--PLD's EVA is too low to even bother with). I also brought hi-pots but never had to use them. We won on our "dry" run.

Great suggestions. As I said this is for my friend, not me. ^^ i am on 7-4 atm. I will make sure he read this posting and maybe his static as well. Please keep posting any other suggestions.

We were PLD, BLM, THF, SMN, RNG, WHM :)

No it was Pld, blm, brd, smn, rng, whm. I went brd/whm.

But what gal said beside the thf instead of brd part. We went with the evasion pld strategy, and I did dragonfoe and ballad II for the pld.

However, he did bring his better defense gear and switched to an Earth staff for the part where omega and ultima attack very fast and rapidly. I switched to minne and ballad for that part. It might've been double minne or dragonfoe mambo and my highest minne, I forget.

I think full defense gear with a minne song to help fulltime would've been just as good though. A pld could easily get away with using a sword and shield to make keeping hate a simple task probably as well. Although an earth/terra staff for the crazy part is invaluable.

I tanked it on PLD. Sirelrohir did too.

Not really that hard if you have good healers.

I had a lot of potions though.

PLD is actually a great asset to that one as an offtank rather than the main man, with a NIN or a WAR/NIN or something maining.

I also offtanked as WAR for Cythe on his PLD and it worked just as well, so, you can really do it any way you want.

it's all skill.

Isn't it best to have a pld tank and nin both?
PLD tanks ultima
nin tanks omaga?

done it as 2 nin, 2 blms,1 rdm 1 whm.

I can't see paladin having a problem tanking this at all since the updates, some of the people that have been giving there strategy I know have done this pre-Auto-refresh, pre parade gorget, and pre-shield mastery. This is why many are suggesting earth/terra tanking, however the dmg reduction from shield blocks after all the updates to enhance the sword/shield combo will be > the flat %dmg reduction from the stave. I could be wrong, but I don't believe you have spirit taker by that level, and if you don't, I can't see any benefits to using a stave.
With shield mastery, I would load up on Shield skill and just have a ton of hi-pots. As was mentioned earlier, putting eva+ on a pld is kind of ridiculous, unless you're going for +evasion skill rather then straight evasion+ gear. PLD's base Evasion skill is extremely poor. + Evasion skill gear is a lot pricier as well then run of the mill eva+.
Since assault came out, you can very easily load up on hi-pots, whereas us crazy old vets had to buy them one at a time, making alchemists rich. Using hi-pots also helps with hate-control, so its win win. If your other party members aren't full inventory, have them hold hi-pots for you and bazaar them for 1g while inside. This will allow you to use quite a few more.

You know I've often wondered if the Earth staff is getting a bit long in the tooth for dmg reduction on PLD's Like you say the shield mastery, ability to merit shield skill to the point where you are blocking alot more damage than would normally be getting through, and each sucessful block allows us to cure ourselfs. Along with yag drinks and hi-potions I see no reason why a pld cant reduce alot of the damage done by a boss mob.

I believe omega and ultima's moves are light based also, so light carol if ya got a brd may help a lil on your tank if you can position it right to hit him and not your melee. We ran all of CoP without a refresher, just used pots and drinks. Also having your dmg melee sub nin works great imo. We ran all our dmg melee with /nin to help with mana, and help the ninja hold hate. I think we used 2 tanks also.... had them trade vokes when one started getting low.

2 nin/war
1 sam/nin
2 blm/whm
1 whm/smn

I know at times i was spending more time curing on my blm then actually nuking. So maybe pld as a back up healer in mana gear isnt so much a bad idea. Throwing flashes when the ninja needs shadows up and gets into trouble.

You did nail it with the comment about doing it pre-update. I was with Jag and galaika in their group, and it was quite some time ago. We actually had a choice of using Nin or Pld, but went with Pld because AoE was ripping up the nin, and a Pld made the Mammets easier for us. We found that the acc of ultima and omega was so poor, that adding EVA almost made a Pld nin-like. I think he used HQ wind staff for even more EVA. Since the Pld spent most of the fight blind, nothing was lost (other than the shield) between staff and sword.

Overall, an easy fight. Right guys?? :P

This fight can certainly be done w/ a PLD tank.
Main thing is, to keep PLD clean of Paralyze and other debuffs that come his way.

Setup: SMN/WHM, PLD/WAR, BLU/NIN, BLU/NIN, RNG/WAR, and RDM/BLM

Mammets: Here, everyone took a mammet, PLD aggro'ed them all, and we killed one by one. The RNG came close to dying here, but he never actually did. Worst thing here is the AoE the BLM Mammets can generate. I main healed PLD as he tanked two Mammets and RDM main healed the others. Just have tank aggro but don't attack, and healer can spam cures on him all day.

Omega: We actually go through Omega w/ the us of only 2 CCB polymers. Best thing to do here is keep tank clean of debuffs. RDM main healed here, SMN attacked w/ avatar and covers statis effects. Usually your tank will go down here, if Omega isn't really near death, take the death, just make sure to die close to where you started in Airship. With that in mind, SMN AF'ed against Omega, as well as one of the BLU's. Omega usually went down fairly easily.

Ultima: Our issue here was running out of time. He has a buff that he puts up, and we figured that we lost about 20-30% damage b/c of this shield. (To avoid this, the two BLU's set dispel and spammed it on him). After that, main rules w/ omega apply go apeshit on him, but keep tank alive. He will go crazy on you as well at about 50%.

We did this before updates and found it to be hard b/c of time limit. Otherwise it would be easy, certainly a PLD can tank this fight effectively.
