Paladins Highest Defense

im Just wondering as a Paladin what is the average Defense while partying as a 60ish Paladin.

As of right now im a level 59 Hume PLD with really good gear (gluttony sword, royal gaurds sheild, R.K. Chainmail, ALL AF up to level, 2 cryslobery rings and 2 drone earings, with a Irn. Msk, Gorget, Beak Mantle +1 , and a life belt ) and I heard some people say that some Paladins have their defense is up in the 600s at level 52.

I'm wondering if this is possible casue mine with sentinal and defender is only 436. Am I doing something wrong? yes i do east Food but i didnt look to see what my Def caped at with sentinel and defender. But i think its only like 546ish.

Is 600 defense even posible in the low 50s. If so plz tell me what im doing wrong so i can fix it.

If you load up on +def gear its probably possible, but you'd have to give up quite a bit of vit to get it up to 600 peak. Phlanx rings add 10 def each, and if you add 25% from food, 25% from defender, 25% from sentinal, you're getting closer to 20 per ring. if you switched around a few pieces of gear, like your belt, your earrings, your cape, and your rings, you could add probably 40 base def, which would multiply out to being closer to 70, but it would mean giving up alot of acc, vit, and agi.

Also, it depends on what food you are eating. Since different foods have different caps you might be hitting your foods cap without realizing it.

You can't count Sentinel or Rampart because their duration is so short. At level 68, with food, Protect IV, Defender, Sentinel, and Rampart I can push it to the 700s--normally with Defender I'm at about 630. I remember the first time I had 500 defense was around level 58 or 59, but keep in mind I'm a Galka. You're probably right about there.

If you want to improve your ability to take damage, I'd get a Master Shield (or Musketeer Commander's if you can't afford it), Gaia Doublet, a Mercenary's Earring, and a Medieval Collar. That would yield these overall stats:

+7 VIT
+10 Shield Skill (if you get the Master Shield)

-15 HP
-3 ATK
-12 DEF
-3 AGI (or +0 if you get the Musketeer Commander's Shield)
-3 CHR
-3 MND
-2 STR
-2 DEX

Now let's take out the stats that make absolutely no difference or make such a small difference that you can throw them out:

+7 VIT
+10 Shield Skill (if you get the Master Shield)

-15 HP
-12 DEF
-3 AGI (or +0 if you get the Musketeer Commander's Shield)

The -15 HP is negligible unless you are constantly under 15 HP in XP parties.

+7 VIT
+10 Shield Skill (if you get the Master Shield)

-12 DEF
-3 AGI (or +0 if you get the Musketeer Commander's Shield)

7 VIT and 10 Shield Skill is far better than 12 DEF and 3 AGI could ever be for you. Think about it this way: would you want a sword that was identical to the Gluttony, except it had -12 DEF, -4 AGI instead of -1 AGI, +10 Shield Skill, and +14 VIT instead of +7? I think you would.8)

lvl 75 Elvaan PLD

I easily hit 600-700 DEF (prolly more, i havent looked at it in a while.) with normal exp equip + Defender + Protect 4.

If i were to apply Sentinel + Rampart + food, i'm sure i could easily hit 800-900+ DEF
