Well, I have one question for people that have played with this...

Whats the difference between:

<Support Job: Thief>

and

<Job Trait: Thief>

Does this mean that with #2, I can get thief traits without having it as main or support job...? If it does... Do the traits become active at normal level, or double as if its a SJ?

You don't get traits for setting jobs, only stats. Job Trats: XXXXX give you those missing traits.

Don't certain feral skills require certain jobs to be set before you can use them as well?

alright, this answers the question. So, once I have the thf trait on, I can learn the traits from thf? Are they learned automatically, or do I need thf job, thf trait, and then the OTHER traits?

Anything +15% requires you to have that trait. Either through a job, or by setting a Trait feral skill.

Ex:

Double Attack+15% only works if you have a warrior monster at 25(and traits available,) or have used a plate that has "Double Attack." It will not work on its own. Attack+15%, Defense+15%, <Element> Attack+15% and the like, are exceptions, as these boost things that come naturally.

Wow..

Read what the npc says. You need Thief Main Job or Thief Support Job. It's worthless on its own, like magic scrolls are. Trade a plate without a crystal or a reflector, and he'll elaborate on what it does.

you totally misunderstood my question, lol

False. Triple Attack is a lvl 55 THF job trait, but still, there's +15% Triple Attack plates.

Unless SE completely fucked up and gave us those as a joke.

Theres also a Triple Attack trait plate.

This isn't rocket science.

And it unlocks the ability to learn those traits at the level they're unlocked, Ruffy. Thats why they're so cheap.

Because all pets can afford to set a FP 58 skill + a FP 47 skill.

This isn't rocket science. I don't think any pet have 115 points at lvl 50.

Edit: just a FYI, The "Trick Attack", "Double Attack", "Additionally effect: Xxx" plates without a modifier at the end, scale as you and the ability level up. The ones with a set number just add that to your pet.

Mimics start off at 100+

Plenty of monsters start off in the 60s and 70s.

Maybe it's just balanced so that the shit that starts off overpowered as all fuck can't touch those.

yes, but they also gain FP at a slower rate. You normally get no more then 2 every 10 level. Apkullu starts of at 68, and will end at around 78 or 80, but definently not 100+.

edit: actually, I don't know if they gain FP at a slower rate, but I know my friend's pets that didn't start out at 68 FP got FP increases faster then my apkullu, so I assumed they do. But I ay be wrong about that

Just throwing something in...set my Cactuar's main job to NIN, and at lvl 10, he started attacking twice, as if he had the Dual Wield skill...and I don't have <Job Trait: Ninja> set at all.

Is it possible that monsters with an inherit job gets the job traits automatically? I assumed I had to set Job Trait: Monk on my Cactuar, so I don't know.

I hope so though, since I'd love to get rid of Job Trait: Monk in favour of something much, much better...

Does it happen all the time, or occasionally?

It's either that, or they retain their monster-specific traits(which makes sense, ecosystem killers still work,) and the Cactuar had just learned Kick Attacks. They use hand to hand, but only attack once unless that fires off.

God, I hope this is true (that you don't need Job Trait: Xxx with it as an inherited job)... it took me a lot of time to get my Job Trait: Monk, so I don't want to remove it to see if he'd still counter...

I could tell you easily, but not many people use undead. Doesn't give my campa a chance to use Undead Killer from PLD.

I hate you -.- I keep getting paired with skeletons, and got paired with the same lvl 15 skeleton twice in 2 hours =/

Nope, my cactuar attacks twice EVERY attack round.
