I've actully wanted to play these games for QUITE a long time now and I've got a chance to pick them both up for 20 bucks.

So my questions are:
Will I be disappointed? Am I wasting money?

Simple as that ^^. If you can compare them to any other games or give me a firsthand account of them, I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks all.
 
I'm a big fan of the first Parasite Eve, and I'd say getting them for $10 each is a good deal. The weapons upgrade system, once you get used to it, is nifty. In terms of gameplay, it's sorta like Resident Evil but with a more action-RPG combat system.

You can have one weapon engraved and named, which lets you use it when you start a new save file and one-shot most of creatures and bosses after you've pimped it out.

I have the second game, but didn't get very far. I need to pick it up again.
 
God I remember having fun with Parasite Eve 1 and 2, I wish there had been a Parasite Eve 3 for ps2, ah well.
 
I liked PE2 a little better than PE1 in terms of gameplay and combat. But the story for 1 was much better.
 
Parasite Eve 2 is the only one I've played, back when I was a little younger. God, the big fat boss in the hotel deserty place is hard. It's a good concept though. Would work well as a multiplayer, I guess.

I personally loved them..a lot. Especially th e music, since I am a music whore. You will be happy methinks.
 
The last boss in Parasite eve is real creepy. When i made it to the end that is when i started exploring the depth of costomizing the gun in order to beat the game.

Be sure to play part 1 first. Part 2 is way better.
 
Yeah both PEs are really good. Never did finish the second one though. I remember I made it pretty far but then I just stopped. In my opinion, I was bigger fan of the first one. Better story, music, and was more RPG like where the second one is more Resident Evil like. But if your a fan of Resident Evil then like most people that mentioned on here, you'll probably like the second a lot.
 
They're both great games, the final boss in the second one is way, way way harder though. Especially on the harder modes.

Never did beat Nightmare Mode...golems everywhere...why... >_<
 
I liked them both, but never got a chance to play through CD 2 of PE2.
I had a bootleg copy that froze up on me, and then the game just became "rare."

The first PE, I loved.
It was freaky, and had an RPG element to it.
Ah, and oh yes...it was the first time I saw videogame boobs w/o zipples.

Overall, good games. Good purchase.
 
hehe.. I got parasite eve and liked it but for some reason just never had the feeling of wanting to play more of it XD was more interested in things like Starcraft and FF games and Xenogears at the times :P

Rare? There's about 30 copies of it in Gamestation in Manchester at any one time. Sells for £20 a pop.
