How do you guys pass time at work when there is absolutley nothing to do? I just d/l a dvd media player (VLC Media PLayer) and have started watching Farscape. It's almost non-enjoyable simply because I am nervous of my boss walking by.

Are there any websites you recommend that are completly work safe content?

It would be nice if I could play FFXI at work but alas that wouldn't work.

Good find Sabia. That site has made me nestalgic. I must spend more time there.

I am VERY familiar with that website. I've been going there since, I think, 1998. :D

I love the onion, I have been an avid reader since 1997 when i lived in Milwaukee, and used to get it from the bar that I lived above. It is tough to find better satire than the onion. However I think the quality of their articles is starting to decline the past few years. It seems like they are taming it down a bit for a more widespread audience.

I aggree :( My fav article is still the door-to-door Marilyn Manson one

I also go on: http://rumandmonkey.com/ when I am really bored - the "tests and widgets" section is amusing :)

OHHHH and http://www.jumptheshark.com/ (i get bored at work too ;))

I think my favorite articles on the onion have to be:

Local Elderly Stand Up To Gang Violence - All Are Killed
Ninja Co-Worker
and
Scientist Capture the Elusive Male Orgasm on Film.

All of those made me cry from laughing.

rabid, you lived in milwaukee? where at? just curious. ive lived here all my life.

I went to law school at Marquette, so I lived by campus for 2 years (I got to know all the local bums very well), and I lived on the East Side for my last year. Milwaukee is a great city but after 3 years I moved back to Chicago. I still make it up to Milwaukee every year for Summerfest and Italian Fest.

very cool ^^ I work on the south side off of 37th and Burnham and live in
West Allis off 54th st.
As far as the bums....oh boy, they are a plenty over there. Ive got a friend who lives near Judges on the east side, and we tilt a few back there occasionally (well, not so much anymore since I seriously cut back on the drinking)

small world eh?

The thing I miss most about Milwaukee is a resteraunt called Real Chili. Where else can you go late night and throw crackers at all of the other drunks in the resteraunt.

Just finished "The Outsiders". Been forever since I've watched that. It isn't as good as I remebered it to be but many things you watch when young tend to end up that way. Still a quality movie with a good underlying message.

Stay golden.

Ahhh and I guess I'll have to choose between Big Trouble In Little China, Tombstone, or Battle Royale now. :D

I have absolutely nothing to do at my work right now (I'm home today cause I'm sick :(). Here's what I discovered yesterday: FFXI -> VNC -> SSH tunnel runs just fine :D (I'm at the local U so bandwidth is not an issue =P). You can't fight stuff or anything--graphics wouldn't update fast enough--but you can do things like check your delivery box and talk to people.

Something else I've discovered: if you use like text-based programs (lynx, mutt, etc), people just see a term window and assume you're working on Something Very Important.

I'd still rather have actual work to do though. I'd rather get paid than not, but sitting on my ass all day not doing anything is driving me crazy.

I go there all the time :) and yes, it is filled to the hilt with drunks after bar close :)

I mostly spent time at the one by Marquette because it was 1 block from my apartment. I still to this day always crave a big bowl of hot spaghetti and beans with onions and cheese after a night of drinking. I have tried and tried to replicate it but it is always a poor imitation of the real thing.

Oh yeah what ever you do don’t eat it sober it's not nearly as good.
